Before I express my condolences for the murder of Rationalism within the Baloch Community and martyrdom of ‘realization’ from the rest of the Pakistani society, I would like to share some relevant information about our insensitivities as Pakistanis. So much for the Aman ki Asha program aimed to build intra-cultural relationship with the neighboring India, one wonders why such a program is not launched to build strong bonds within the country first?

What does a student from LUMS University Lahore knows about a student from Bolan Medical College? What are the political views of Peshawar University students and how do Karachi University students perceive certain political issues in the country? The lack of communication among the youth of Pakistan should be more concerning than the so called bridging the gap between Pakistan and her neighbors, as ‘charity begins at home’, isn’t it?

That is why I call it a martyrdom of ‘realization’; because the way I see it, there is yet to be an effort, not necessarily expected from the government but from the private sector, to bridge communicational and geographical differences within Pakistan. And this absence of realization is simply causing enough vacuum, which is being filled with something not healthy for Pakistan’s national unity. Also, what we see now is an increasing number of challenges from Sub-Nationalism in the Balochistan province.

My observation, after living in such an environment, is that the insurgency in Balochistan is not big enough to literally threaten an East Pakistan like consequence, which was due to our weaknesses both politically and militarily; but they are strong enough to keep the condition chaotic and anarchic in the entire province. There are three major elements of this insurgency; brainwashing campaigns, armed struggle, and sufficient funds to carry on that armed struggle. But I am going to speak about the mother of all problems – the brainwashing campaigns.

Effective Brainwashing Campaigns;

Both on the provincial and the national level; for example, other parts of the country are injected with the disinformation that the ongoing struggle is for their basic rights, as if there are enough rights in interior Sindh, Punjab, KPK and FATA; while on the provincial level, the brainwashing is extremely effective, where the masses are fed with the fairy tales of Pakistan’s occupation of Balochistan. Let me remind you that in Balochistan, they don’t even use the term “forceful annexation”, which is unfairly propagated on the national television screens of Pakistan, but rather, in the province it is even worse. This is carried out by various different methods; there are anti-Pakistan books, easily available in cities and districts of Balochistan, which support the enemy’s narration of history. The domestic newspapers and political seminars, by using the banner of Baloch Students Organization-Azad, are extremely lethal in manufacturing hardcore militants out of hatred for Pakistan.

Imagine, if you are convinced, since your birth that you are occupied, your land is snatched away and almost all the bad things that you view are due to this particular country, most likely, you won’t accept the slavery, would you? Same is the case with most of the people of Balochistan, who don’t have access to the Internet, who don’t have any alternate information which could convince them that Pakistan is their home.  It is such a pity for any country to not have the state’s narration of history; of course there is a more logical and authentic state narration about Balochistan’s history, but it is almost non-existent on the surface. Even those who are able to watch television channels find the same narration of the enemy being delivered by so called prominent journalists, and this keeps them intact to the anti-State version of history. See a few examples of these innocent young angels who are being indoctrinated with hatred for the state from a tender age.

This girl is holding a calendar, what they term as “Shuhada’s Calendar”, listed with the names of some famous anti-Pakistan BLA sympathizers. These Calendars are largely available in Quetta. Which country allows such anti-state material to be openly exposed to her population?

This is another example of the child brainwashing campaign, publically launched in 2006 by BSO-Azad, Chapter Khuzdar, where the Baloch separatists came to the conclusion that an active propaganda campaign must be launched to brainwash the minor children, in order to prepare a generation that is anti-Pakistan. This has met lots of success, not because of their propagative tools but simply because of the absence of any counter narrative. This is where I see that the awareness campaign in Balochistan is more important than anything else. It would be wrong to say that almost every child has been convinced to hate the country, because we still have an overwhelming majority of sane elements in Balochistan who are resisting this menace on their own, but they are surely waiting for the state to practically step in to stop these activities.

People who are being convinced by this horrifying propaganda are now seeing Balochistan as a country, not as a province. This is another challenge for the state – to break this perception and define ‘what a province is’. It has come to a point that even national political parties give a picture that Balochistan is a country and not a province; they don’t say it, but they simply go with the flow without contradicting the militant ideology whenever they hold any political seminar. They start with the slogans of Balochistan Zindabad, and they end it with the same slogan, without mentioning Pakistan anywhere, and I have personally seen the JUIF and the PPP do this a number of times. There comes a point when people are forced to think that maybe Pakistan has abandoned its own people, which is obviously not true, but the state has definitely become more insensitive and indifferent towards this grave issue.

The brainwashing campaign has many ingredients, such as the unemployment and inflation which are cashed in the militant struggle by the propagators. Other elements are; not enough education infrastructure, even the places where you have infrastructure are extremely poor, so that the militants start comparing it to the top level universities in Punjab and Karachi, hence, this comparison helps to fuel up more fire. All these elements that contribute to manufacture militants and hatred for the state are actually very little compared to the major element which I have previously discussed; and that is the very narration of history, which asserts that Pakistan has occupied Balochistan and that the Baloch identity is in trouble by associating it with Pakistani identity. This alone is enough for spawning the hate mongers.

Considering my personal experience, my observation of the situation and with all my research and knowledge I can say with complete confidence that this brainwashing campaign is more powerful than the armed struggle itself. Baloch nationalism, like any other nationalism, is fueled up with nationalistic mythologies consisting of extreme exaggeration of past rulers and warriors. You will be surprised to know that one of their usual propaganda to children is that one Baloch is equally powerful to 11 Pakistanis; and you will be more shocked to know that in their texts as well as verbal propagation, they even prohibit people to eat “daal” which they refer to as a Punjabi recipe, and I have personally witnessed it. In such a hateful environment that is designed by a bunch of sub-nationalists, it is shameful for all those Pakistani intellectuals who are not doing just enough to counter this home grown monster, which I see as a Frankenstein created by this senseless nationalism, which is in turn killing innocent people; because the way I see it, not even the Baloch are now safe from these ethnic militants.

Maula Bakhsh Baloch from National Party and Ghulam Mohammed Baloch from Baloch National Front Party are two huge examples of those who were killed by the same groups over petty disagreements. For now, it is irrelevant to discuss the destruction, as the monster is already created, and this monster is an ideology that is based on sub-nationalism and hatred and stands opposed to Pakistan’s ideology based on Islamic nationalism. For the victims of such brainwashing campaigns, Pakistan is just any other foreign country that has invaded their land; they are designed as secular in nature, because the intelligent propagators know that the only thing which undermines Pakistan’s existence and that can make the people see it entirely differently is the strange mixture of secular Marxism/Communism. It is important to know that many Baloch militants drive their inspiration from Communism.

How successful are these propagandists so far? The answer is simple; they are successful enough to peacefully carry out hate preaching, which transforms into violence later on. They are successful enough to undermine the entire country openly in public forums, including schools and colleges. Just see the shocking examples of their success.

They have successfully convinced a certain segment of people (not majority) that Pakistan is an alien country, and that their Baloch identity is contrary to Pakistani identity; for this they had, in the 1980s, designed a so called National Flag of Balochistan, which is now also the flag of the Balochistan government in exile. This move to launch a flag of their own to symbolize their struggle was a very significant move, but what was even more strange is the Indian involvement even in reshaping the Baloch nationalism. Let me remind you – India has not just aided the Baloch separatist militancy, but also had a part in shaping Baloch nationalism, by directing their stooges such as Khair Bakhsh Marri in the 70s and 80s. When Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front was gaining momentum in Kashmir – an indigenous Kashmiri party that seeks Kashmir’s independence from India based on Kashmiri nationalism; the Indians decided to discredit Pakistan with the help of their proxies in Balochistan, in order to distract her focus from Kashmir to her western border. Many RAW officials met Baloch separatist leaders in Afghanistan, and designed a flag for Balochistan People’s Liberation Front (BPLF) – a militant separatist organization of the 70s, headed by Khair Bakhsh Marri, and this flag resembles that of Maqbool Bhat’s JKLF of Kashmir. This was an attempt by the Indians to distract Pakistan’s focus from Kashmir to its eastern borders, so that India continues her brutalities on the Kashmiris with maximum comfort; and the intention of such a flag was to gather all the disintegrated Baloch separatist groups under one umbrella of their cause.

The Role of India didn’t stop there. I noticed another strange similarity between the current BLA flag with the flag of the Popular Front of India, which consists of Muslims who were blamed by the Kerala state government, once in 2006, to spread communal hatred.

I do not know whether I should call it a coincidence or a part of Indian involvement, but there are many signs in the Baloch nationalist struggle which seem to be designed by Indians. Even their so called revolutionary songs consist of the lyrics of Indian revolutionary songs – produced for Bollywood movies themed on the colonial rule in the subcontinent – translated into Balochi language. I was surprised to witness many Azadi songs of Hindi movies being used in Baloch Students Organization Seminars.

These minor successes of Baloch separatists are enough to keep an anti-state environment alive, without any interruption from the state itself. No one is there to stop them, because if anyone dares to express his difference of opinion from these nationalist groups, he or she will no longer be alive after that. Many Balochs are victims of these nationalist groups.

Flags were just one chapter, which they have opened to symbolize their nationalism against Pakistan; the other chapter is the so called National Anthem of Balochistan. This is hilariously strange, that a cultural song sung by Yasmin Baloch from Sindh in the 80s would be adopted as a national anthem by a group of people, and that too without the consent of Yasmin Baloch. However, this beautiful cultural song – ma chuke balochani  (We are the sons of Baloch), that simply speaks about Baloch history and culture, is being misused against the Pakistani state, where nationalists are programing the children to oppose the Pakistan national anthem in order to sing their own.

All is not under the control of the Baloch separatist groups, despite the state’s indifference to their propaganda. There is still an overwhelming majority of Balochs who not only believe in Pakistan, but also know the difference between right and wrong. They are not secular as they are projected by the separatist leaders. Their entire family structure is based on Islamic principles. They just want the Pakistani state to step into Balochistan and counter the propaganda, to save their lives from these nationalistic bigots.

It is not difficult to win this war, but it is a question of political will. It is a question of spreading awareness; Pakistanis in particular need to participate and try to discredit senseless historical narrative, even if delivered by the likes of Hamid Mir, who reads a BSO-Azad pamphlet and shows up to deliver the speech on its history. We need to aggressively stop them because this is harmful; I retreat that this is not the war of rights, of course the sense of deprivation is there, but it is present everywhere in Pakistan. In Balochistan, it is the question of identity. People need to be convinced that there is a concept of the multi-cultural state. They need to be told that being a Pakistani doesn’t compromise their ethnic identity and culture. There is an aggressive campaign also on the social media, particularly by the Balochs from the Middle East and the Gulf states who are not accepted by the Arab society, and now they are shown this green grass of a free country of their own in South East Asia; so they are the major propagandists and even fund raisers for the terror outfits, simply because they are desperate for a separate identity.

All we need to do is to own the Baloch culture. Just keep this in your heart that you have to own the Baloch and Balochistan culturally; and the moment you do this, I promise you that the separatists will meet an immediate defeat. Their only weapon is to create a sense of alienation from the rest of Pakistan. Their weapon is to make the Baloch see Pakistan as a completely different country; imagine if the Pakistanis start singing patriotic national songs in Balochi; imagine if the Pakistanis promote Balochi traditional dresses and food in different parts of the country; imagine if the Pakistanis are able to convince them that being a Pakistani Baloch is very much possible; then I am very much sure that we will win this war and all these fake flags will be thrown down the drain.

Like I said in the beginning, the Balochs have inherited love for their cultural identity, and if the Pakistanis own it, then they, too, will be able to own the rest of the country. Otherwise, this brain poisoning will continue to breed violence and hatred for the state. The government may have abandoned them, but the people should not. Many journalists are playing the role of prostitutes by selling their integrity for some petty materialistic means, so don’t follow them. All we need for now is a strong state’s narrative of Balochistan’s history being aggressively propagated on every level, and to own all the cultures of our great country; secondly, to support the idea of using force against the separatists and propagandists; no state tolerates such a nonsense, then why should we? Combined efforts of the society and the military can eradicate them completely.

Misguiding the Baloch People

After taking cognisance of the general pardon announced by the Pakistan government for the Baloch separatist leaders, and favaourable hearings of the Supreme Court of Pakistan about the missing persons of the province of Balochistan, holding Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Frontier Corps (FC) responsible for them including deteriorated law and order situation in the province, Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, former Chief Minister of Balochistan and head of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) returned to Pakistan. Meanwhile, son of late Nawab Akbar Bugti and chief of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Nawabzada Talal Akbar Bugti also came back.
Both the Baloch leaders shared same views in misguiding the Baloch people by concealing the real situation of Baloshistan, created by Pakistan’s external enemies. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Sardar Akhtar Mengal distorted the facts, while raising false allegations against the security agencies of the country, which have continuously been leveling by the anti-Pakistan elements. Giving a six-point solution to the Balochistan issue, Akhtar Mengal suggested to the Supreme Court that all proxy death squads, operating under the supervision ISI or MI in the province should be disbanded. He stated that all missing persons who are under the custody of intelligence agencies should be produced, and Baloch political parties should be allowed to resume their political activities without any interference from these agencies. Mengal explained that those responsible for torture, killing and dumping of bodies of Baloch political leaders and activists should be brought to justice. He added that military operation should be stopped in the province and measures should be taken for the rehabilitation of the displaced Balochis.
In reply to Akhtar’s statement, the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered that all the disappeared people should be produced before the court and proxy death squads formed by the ISI and MI should be disbanded. Afterwards, Akhtar Mengal revealed that he will not talk to the government about any reconciliation process unless the acceptance of his six points.

Talal Akbar Bugti showed the same tone by inciting the Balochis against the centre in some diplomatic style. While emphasising that the government should provide basic rights to Baloch people, he blamed the security agencies for killing of people, missing persons and military operation in Balochistan. He also declared that he would not take part in the elections until FC, ISI and MI leave the province.

Besides, political leaders like Nawaz Sharif of PML-N), Syed Munawar Hasan, Ameer of Jamaat-i-Islami and Chairman Imran Khan of PTI including those of other religious parties who met Akhtar Mengal and Talal Bugti encouraged them in maligning country’s key security institutes, and misguiding the Balochis about the missing persons in order to increase their vote bank at the cost of Pakistan’s integrity. Especially Imran Khan supported the six-points of Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

Talal also invited all political parties to make grand alliance for general elections and to lend a hand to pull the country out of the present crisis. However, during their interaction with media Akhtar Mengal started following the tone of late Sheikh Mujibur Rehman, while Talal indicated that the current situation of Balochistan is worse than that of West Pakistan in 1971. Nevertheless, the federal government and the armed forces in a joint statement to the Supreme Court, rejected assertions of Baloch leaders Sardar Akhtar Mengal and also of Tala Bugti saying that “armed forces are neither conducting any military operation in Balochistan nor are there any death squads of intelligences agencies in the province.” The statement clarified that no missing person was in the custody of the secret agencies and every political party in Balochistan was free to work.

In fact, baseless accusations of both the Baloch leaders are part of a deliberate campaign which has been accelerated by the foreign-based NGOs, human rights groups and media against Islamabad. With the secret support of American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mosssad which are well-penetrated in these entities and Pakistani media are being used for vile propaganda against Pak Army, ISI and FC in relation to the human rights violations and disappeared persons. US, India and Israel seek to separate Balochistan from the federation of Pakistan to obtain their secret strategic designs. With the help of Baloch separatist leaders who have taken refuge in western countries, these hostile entities are perennially distorting the image of Islamabad and its security agencies in relation to Balochistan.

For these sinister aims, on July 31, 2011, a rally was organised by Baloch Human Rights Council in UK in front of the US Embassy in London, which raised false allegations such as inhuman torture and extrajudicial murder of the Baloch intellectuals by the Pakistan’s security agencies. Besides, a demonstration was held outside the United Nations in Genva on the occasion of the 19th Session of UN Human Rights Council to condemn the human rights violations in Balochistan. Apperently, the demonstration was organised by Mehran Baloch, Balochistan’s representative at the United Nations and Noordin Mengal, but in fact, it was arranged by anti-Pakistan entities and Indo-Israeli lobbies with the cladestine assistance of America. On all these occasions, Sardar Akhtar Mengal and Talal Bugti played a key role secretly.

Recently, the delegation of the UN Working Group also visited Pakistan to know about human rights violations and situation of missing persons, particularly of Balochistan. As the UN is under the influence of the US-led major countries, so it also raised similar allegations against Pakistan’s security agencies. Regrettably, Akhtar Mengal and Talal Bugti also met those media anchors who are working on the payroll of the foreign elements, and they provided them false information to misguide the general masses about Balochistan.

Reliable reports suggest that these media commentators and Baloch separatist elements including Akhtar Mengal and Talal Bugti have been invited by the US officials and participated in their secret meetings in Pakistan so as to accelerate propaganda against Balochistan as part of a conspiracy against the country.

Pakistan’s internal elements, especially political parties should know that the reality behind the worsening circumstances and the missing people of Balochistan is that secret agencies like CIA, RAW and Mossad which have well-established their collective network in Afghanistan are in collusion, and have perennially been supporting bomb blasts, suicide attacks, abductions, target killings, ethnic and sectarian violence in Balochistan through their affiliated militant groups such as Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jundollah (God’s soldiers), Balochistan National Party led by Sardar Akhtar Mengal and other Baloch feudal lords (Sardars) to dismember Pakistan. Their subversive activities have resulted in missing persons in Balochistan.

In this regard, Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik repeatedly disclosed that he also showed proof about training camps being run in Afghanistan, and supply of arms and ammunition by the Afghan government to Baloch separatists inside Balochistan. Malik explained that BLA has owned 299 terror attacks in the province in which more than 170 personnel of the FC were martyred. It is mentionable that a Gallup survey of the UK official body, DFID, conducted on July 20, this year, disclosed that the vast majority of the Baloch people oppose the idea of an independent Balochistan. This survey has proved that some external elements have been conducting acts of sabotage in the province by backing the minority groups.

While, civil, federal and provincial governments are making strenuous efforts to restore peace and order in the province. For this purpose, a paramilitary committee has also been formed by the ruling party to hold negotiations with the disgruntled elements. And recently, Chief of Army Stall Gen. Kayani stated that the military would support any political settlement in Balochistan within the confines of the constitution.

No doubt, on the direction of their foreign masters, Baloch leaders Akhtar Mengal and Talal Bugti have returned Pakistan to further misguide the Baloch people by arousing their sympathies through their pre-conditions and by manipulating the law and order situation.

Missing Persons & Death Squads in Balochistan - Detailed Analysis

Amidst the murky environment in strife-torn Baluchistan, sudden appearance of Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Akhtar Mengal from his self-imposed exile since 2009 was a surprise for many. He is relatively moderate and wants to settle grievances remaining within the framework of federation of Pakistan. Assurances given by Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami and above all the tough stand taken by the Supreme Court against the Army and agencies and chief justice softness for the Baloch nationalists must have encouraged him to make a brief four-day sojourn. The apparent purpose of his short sojourn to Pakistan was to reinforce the case of missing persons taken up by the Supreme Court and to give out his loaded six-point plan, which he intends to play upon in the next general elections and reinvigorate Baloch nationalism at the cost of Army’s reputation.
 
He came out with a six-point program as a means to a political settlement, but it contained hints of secession. His six points are being viewed with mixed feelings both within the general public and the nationalist Baloch leaders. Those having apprehensions are drawing parallels with late Sheikh Mujibur Rehman’s six points which divided Pakistan. Even the military see him with suspicious eyes and is not sure of his motives since Mengal has been advocating right of self-determination for the Baloch. Those in favor argue that he has broken the ice and has given a political roadmap for reconciliation which helps in building trust between estranged Baloch and the government. 

Brahamdagh Bugti, Harbyar Marri and Suleiman Daood in exile in Geneva and London respectively along with other hard-line Baloch nationalist leaders are quite vexed and view it as a sellout to the government, and a blow to their separatist agenda. Even the Baloch Sardars in the government are feeling edgy that the nationalists allegedly backed by the establishment may snatch power from them. Talal Bugti led JWP and Mir Hasil Bizenjo led NP too are having reservations. Given the conflicting perceptions, Akhtar Mengal will not have a smooth sailing. Once Akhtar decides to take part in the forthcoming elections, his opponents will dub him as a collaborator. However, the Baloch nationalists are a house-divided and stand on a weak wicket. In response to Akhtar’s demands, the Chief Justice demanded that all missing persons should be produced before the court and all proxy death squads created by the ISI and MI should be disbanded. His directive implied that he had accepted Akhtar’s contention without being furnished proof.

Chief Justice’s stance together with the visit of UN team has encouraged vested groups and external power centres harboring ill-motives against Pakistan in general and Balochistan in particular to go-ahead with their agenda. Doom-Sayers say that the final act will be played before the departure of US-NATO troops from Afghanistan, and that the UNand the US will start making overt moves in 2013 leading to declaring Balochistan an "occupied area".

The trend of enforced disappearance and involuntary disappearances in South Asian states is an old one. In Nepal where Maoist rebels had battled government forces for over a decade was confronted with this issue. In Sri Lanka where Tamil Tigers fought a secessionist war for over 30 years had one of the highest levels of unresolved enforced disappearances in the world. Well over 10,000 enforced disappearances have taken place in Indian-occupied Kashmir. However, this issue has been blown up out of all proportions in Balochistan and the figure excessively bloated to over 14000. It is strange that despite JWP leader Talal Bugti furnishing a list of just 600 missing persons to the two-member UN team, the latter remained glued with the imaginary figures of 14000. The visitors who had come with preconceived notion took no interest in the evidence presented to them about most of the missing persons hiding in Farari camps both in the mountains of interior Balochistan and in neighboring province of Afghanistan but lent receptive ears to the imaginary tales narrated by foreign paid NGOs and vested interests. The initial assessment of the UN team given in the preliminary report in which the entire focus is on law enforcement agencies indicates a clear bias.

In 2008, the propaganda on missing persons was initiated and at that time it was claimed that 2390 persons were missing. Once the judicial commission took up the case the figure dropped to 392. By the close of 2010, the figure further slumped to 134. In March 2011, second judicial commission was formed to authenticate cases of 755 missing persons including 138 noted by the first commission. Out of 755 persons, 256 persons have been located. Investigations reveal that most of the missing persons are either underground, or involved in insurgency and in heinous crimes. Many have been killed in family or personal feuds. Evidence of several missing persons present in Farari camps in Baluchistan and in Afghanistan was presented to the UN Group but this aspect was not inscribed in the UN report. It has been gathered from some of the militants who managed to escape from Farari camps that those showing inclinations to give up militancy and return home are tortured to death by death squads of BLA, BRA, BLA under the supervision of CIA, RAW, MI-6, RAAM. They revealed that the killers wore FC uniform. It is also well known that Blackwater is also involved in mysterious killings of Baloch nationalists.

Moreover, among the 77 big and small Sardars of different tribes, bigger and powerful tribes like the Bugtis, Mengals and Marris are immersed in inter-tribal rivalry. They operate private militias and jails and have death squads. Fifty tribes in Balochistan are deeply involved in major feuds because of which 14 districts are restive. Among the Sardars, Khair Bux Marri remains the fiercest proponent of separatism. He also vehemently hates Punjabi settlers in Balochistan and now it is common strategy of the dissidents to rid the province of the presence of Punjabis. He was the only one who had refused to sign the 1973 constitution. Although majority of Sardars are pro-establishment and are in the government, most are involved in corrupt and criminal practices. They are least interested in running the government machinery, and have politicized the police and levies because of which, law and order has broken down in the province.

In 2011, 565 violent acts including murder took place in the troubled districts and the number rose to 1157 in 2012. During the last six years, 1400 settlers (Punjabis and Urdu speaking) have been killed. Under the obtaining volatile environments where the security forces and agencies are battling the foreign supported insurgents under adverse conditions and are the victims of terrorism, it is indeed preposterous to make an allegation that death squads are operating under ISI and MI. Military and intelligence agencies are not to prop up armed non-state actors but are mandated to identify, operate and nab terrorists.

A thorough probe should be conducted by an independent judicial commission to trace the real culprits. It will not be difficult for the investigators to ascertain the last destination from where and for what duration the calls on mobile phone were made by the victim. The Supreme Court needs to take cognizance of the tragic incident in Chamalang coalmines where a security party of 14 soldiers under the command of Maj Shehzad Amer providing protection to mine diggers belonging to different provinces was ambushed, the security members kidnapped and brutally killed. It was a pre-meditated act by foreign agents to undermine the highly successful Army’s project which has made the people of that impoverished region prosperous and educated. The judiciary and media should strengthen the hands of law enforcement agencies rather than discouraging them and encouraging the insurgents supported by foreign
agencies.

Is Balochistan Really on "FIRE"?

When my house was looted, the first person naturally I doubted was the potential thug next door instead of doubting my Guardians who would give me protection at all times. But amazingly and ironically, that's not the case when it comes to Balochistan. There is chaos, anarchy, upheaval, mismanagement, bad governance, corruption, looting, bad law and order in Balochistan. Interestingly the entire media, the whole of the corrupt government, the complete population and the partial Judiciary are raising fingers at the defence and security institutions, all at the same time, for the worsening of situation in Balochistan. 

The media has been making heightened claims of the Premier state intelligence agency being involved in "kidnapping" and "abducting" persons who later become "missing" persons. These missing persons are then brutally tortured and more tortured while in the mean time, the family members of these missing persons somehow come to know from God knows what supernatural source that those persons are abducted by only  the ISI or MI alone.

Although the separatist terrorist organizations like BLA/BNA/BRA have been working parallel in Balochistan yet people are cent per cent confident about ISI and MI being responsible for "missing persons". The terrorist proxies of BLA, BNA, BRA are known to have strong connections with the notorious RAW and CIA. The leading figures of these separatist insurgent groups like Bramdagh Bugti, Harbiyar Mari, Shehzain Bugti etc confessed on record of having friendly relations with the Indian RAW.  Why would someone on Earth have alliance with the enemy intelligence agency when he/she claims of working for the betterment of the country? For sure, your cunningly proactive enemy would not think of your welfare even in your dream.

From the heated claims, loud hues and cries, intense hullaballo being made by the media, it smells as if a new era of disinformation, PSYOPS, and dirty propaganda is in the making! The revival of the dead Bugti case, the advent of Akhter Mengal with 6 point agenda along with the hype of the missing persons lead to deliberately created situation like that of Former East Pakistan. 

Akhter Mengal.. Here comes a new hardcore admirer of so called "Human Rights"  with his treacherous 6 points agenda like that of Mujeeb-ur-Rehman's which forms an easy formula to disintegrate Balochistan on the Bangladesh doctrine. Intrestingly, Akhter Mengal pops out from no where twisting the facts in his sugar coated statements full of pain and sorrow for his fellow Baloch "missing persons" and then his straightforward and blunt advice cum desire of disbanding "death squads" of the ISI and MI. Sarcistally its yet to be proven before the respected apex court if the state intelligence agencies are the  responsible elements having created "death squads" and kill the innocent civilians. 

What forms the most obnoxious part of the entire Balochistan episode is the 100% confident claims of the privately owned free media without any authentication or solid evidences being produced before the Supreme Court. At the very same time, all the Political Parties along with the media filth fed masses got unleashed instantaneously and  started to call to disband the establishment. If we ponder deeply and logically, it seems the gradual and subsequent steps are directed by a driven agenda. Note the timings, they are critical. UN intruding gang to probe into the "missing persons" case?  Later, Bugti Case. What is the purpose of reviving the dead Bugti Case after a span of complete 6 years from his death?! Subsequent emergence of Akhter Mengal? Anti-Army Propaganda being propagated on the social media by the SAFMA and other BLA terrorists? Prior to this was the resolution passed by Pentagon?

This entire drama being staged on the Baloch front seems to be a part of the bigger game. Blame game is being put on the responsible state institutions particularly the Army and the ISI. In this way it would be much easier to pave way for the final stage of deployment of the 4GW, target being the defence institutions of Pakistan and then the nukes ultimately.

BLA Killing Balochs, Wearing FAKE Pak-Army... by BalochPatriot

In the recently leaked video above, a gang of maddened terrorist insurgents are brutally torturing and butchering human bodies even after they have turned dead. The tortured bodies are the innocent Baloch civilians on which BLA terrorists are taking out their frustration in forged and bogus disguise of men in "Uniform". They are trying to give an impression as if the mad soldiers are the men in Pak Army uniform who butcher  civilians mercilessly and this is the sole reason for recording this pathetic video.

On a lighter note if we analyse the Geo Political scenario around the globe, the premier spy agency of America, Israhell and India have been fully deployed against the rival countries, massacring their people overtly. For instance, the Iraqi people, the Afghani people, the Libyan people and many more have been openly butchered at the hands of these humanatarian zombies in the name of killing terrorism. But not a single TV channel takes notice of their brutal acts or reports their inhumane behavior?!! Despite claiming to be free and fair press, they don't say a word against their state institutions even if they commit disastrous sins because they have certain boundaries. They don't start waging a war against NATO for massacring innocent human souls unlike the Pakistani Media which has gone at war with the Armed forces institutions for a case which is yet to be proven before the world!

"Bugti committed Suicide", BrassTacks moves SC against SAFMA Swines

The Supreme Court has been approached to appoint a high-level judicial inquiry to probe into the death of Nawab Akbar Bugti with the petitioner insisting that the Baloch leader had committed suicide but his unfortunate demise has been exploited by foreign agencies through the separatist elements to destabilise Pakistan. The petitioner in this case is Syed Zaid Hamid, who is represented through his counsel Raja Muhammad Irshad. Boththe petitioner and the counsel are generally known for their connections with the Pakistani establishment thus giving the impression as if they have been encouraged by military/ISI to get the issue of Bugti’s murder probed through an independent judicial inquiry commission.

Raja Irshad when approached said that though he has been representing the ISI and FC in different cases in various courts, in this particular case his services have been hired by the Zaid Hamid’s think tank - Brasstracks. The petition, according to Raja Irshad, submitted before the apex court a week back seeks from the apex court to order a judicial inquiry through serving or retired judges of the Supreme Court to reach the real author of this crime as “the unfortunate death of late Nawab Akbar Bugti has provided fuel to those playing in the hands of foreign agencies out to destabilise Pakistan in general and the province of Balochistan in particular to achieve their global designs”.

The respondents in the petition are DG ISI, DG MI, Mian Nawaz Sharif, General (R) Pervez Musharraf, Shaukat Aziz, the then Balochistan governor Owais Ghani, ex-chief minister Jam Yousaf Khan, former interior minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, ministries of interior and law, Jamil Bugti, Ahmadan Khan Bugti, Talal Bugti and Tariq Bugti.

The petitioner contends that a team of five special forces commandos were invited by late Bugti into his hiding cave to settle terms of surrender but once the officers entered the cave, he triggered an explosive device which brought down the entire cave, killing Bugti and the SSG men. “He committed suicide and also murdered the army officers,” the petition reads.

The petition added that Bugti had desired to meet the army officers in the cave before he could hand over his custody to the law enforcement agencies. There was no doubt, it is said, that the late Nawab was going to be lodged in a room especially arranged for him in the Governor’s House in Quetta. The petition insisted that the latest insurgency in Balochistan has been ignited by a massive anti-state propaganda campaign that the Pakistan army and the state killed late Bugti in a well-planned conspiracy to eliminate the Baloch demands for rights.

“The judicial system of the country is also being exploited by the separatist sympathisers to attack and destroy the state of Pakistan through diabolic propaganda. The political parties in Pakistan like PML-N are also exploiting the situation to settle their personal score with former President Musharraf without looking into the facts of the case; hence are supporting the hostile and separatists’ propaganda and thus fuelling rebellion and insurgency,” the petition said.

The petition also said that the present MNA and cousin of late Nawab Mir Ahmadaan Bugti openly acknowledged that Bugti had committed suicide and had also murdered the army officers. “Every member of the Bugti clan knows this,” the petition added. Referring to a story published by a Lahore-based English language newspaper the petition said the newspaper, run by a close friend of Nawab Bugti, reported that Bugti had refused to give himself up and had committed suicide.

But his death, it is said, is exploited by hostile and anti-state elements to launch propaganda war to prove late Bugti a victim of state terrorism and a deliberate conspiracy of murder.

The petition said that the family of Nawab Bugti has now started to exploit the judicial system of the state to launch a murder case against former president (Musharraf), former governor and former interior minister. “This is not just massive distortion of facts and gross violation of fundamental rights but also initiating a fake case to implicate innocent men. It is also dangerous for the state and the nation as the judicial system is being exploited to establish that the state of Pakistan was involved in the deliberate murder of late Nawb Akbar Bugti which, of course, is opposed to facts on ground.”

“In reality he had committed a rebellion, waged a war against the state and his own tribe and when cornered, he committed suicide while also murdered five army personnel, but these facts have never been reported by the media, never taken up by the courts and the separatists are fully exploiting lies, deceptions and propaganda in the environment to wage a war against the state of Pakistan, against the army and against the former members of the government in dangerous times.”

The petition prayed: “That the factum of death of late Nawab Akbar Bugti is shrouded in mystery which has triggered militants, insurgency and fuelled the feelings of separatists. It is a matter of cardinal and paramount importance and eminently required the intervention of this honourable court of ultimate jurisdiction as a guardian of Constitution of Pakistan. The entire nation looks up to the apex court as a beacon of light to shake off despondency and acute insecurity in the minds of highly aggrieved and panic-stricken people of Pakistan.”

IG FC turns down UN intruding gang yet again!

Islamabad: Inspector General (IG) of Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Obaidullah Khan Khattak will not be able to meet the UN intruding Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances when the team visits Quetta on September 15, a highly-placed source told. According to sources, the UN intruding group had expressed its desperate desire to meet Khattak to discuss the issue of missing persons in Balochistan, despite Pakistan's Chief Justice's refusal to meeting to the intervening gang of the UN.

An official in the FC media department, Murtaza Baig, told that the IG FC would be unavailable to the UN team as he would be ‘busy’ with relief operations in the flood-affected areas of the province. Another official in the Balochistan government said Khattak was not obligated to meet the UN team since the working group was not mandated to conduct an investigation on the issue of enforced disappearance.

Former president of Balochistan High Court Bar Association Advocate Shakil Hadi also refused to arrange a meeting with the UN working group. Hadi, who is the legal counsel of Nawabzada Jamil Bugti, son of Nawab Akbar Bugti, told  that he considered the UN team’s visit to Pakistan as interference in the internal affairs of Pakistan, adding that the list of missing persons was highly misleading.

“I personally know that many persons who have gone underground were also being treated as missing persons,” Hadi said.

Post Script: It should be critically noted that the figure of missing persons all across the globe is far higher than that of Pakistan (which is undoubtedly an exaggerated figure). In areas like Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan and so many areas of India have a far greater number of people missing from their homes but interestingly the very sympathetic UN did NOT take any trouble to console the grieved families and search for their lost ones. The questions arises WHY is the UN so much concerned about the internal affairs of Pakistan? Or is it only paving a way for Libya/Syria type intervention with gradual and subsequent lame excuses? Later when the UN feels more and more excruciating pain for the grieved families, it would break into Pakistani soil with the consoling and sympathetic NATO forces for the "greater" interest of Pakistanis and humanity at large and thus the last and grand final phase of 4th GW would be deployed happily ever after!

Pakistan Army launches FM radio in violence-hit areas

ISLAMABAD – The military has launched a new project ‘FM 96 International Radio Network’ in the violence-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata and Balochistan, a move described as ‘community service’ but being criticised by many, reported BBC on Tuesday.

According to the broadcast, the basic objection raised is that the army is trying to establish an institution parallel to the Radio Pakistan and prominent analyst Ayesha Siddiqa says it is a dangerous commercial venture of Pakistan Army.

The BBC says after the army’s investment in banking, cement, sugar mills, transport, fertilizer, land, construction and other sectors through its related organisations, the company, named as FM 96 International Radio Network, has been made subsidiary of Shalimar Recording and Broadcasting Company being run by the Pakistan Television.

The transmission of the radio network managed by the army can be heard in Malakand Division, Fata except Orakzai Agency and various parts of Balochistan - Quetta, Panjgur, Khuzdar and others – in Urdu, Pashtu, Balochi and Barahvi languages.

Major chunk of the programmes are related to music, culture and national songs, while news and current affair has so far received a limited slot. Interestingly, Indian songs are not relayed by the Radio Pakistan, but they get ample space in the army-run FM network.

The head of the project is an in-service colonel of the military’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to Colonel Aqeel Malik, the initiative is not a commercial venture, but a community service project. He added that no advertisements could be obtained from the insurgency-hit areas.

Aqeel told BBC that the army had shut down the illegal FM radio stations operated in Malakand Division by militant chief Fazlullah, because they had been used to attract locals towards terrorism coated in the name of jihad. During the military operation in Swat, it had been observed that there was need to start FM radio service to provide entertainment and information to the people, badly affected by violence.

The army colonel further said the radio network had been set up after an approval given by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, adding that the reports about any foreign funding were totally wrong.

When asked why the army did launched the project in the presence of the state-run Radio Pakistan which has necessary experience and technical expertise, his reply was that media was mushrooming in Pakistan and it was necessary establish more organisations to convey the state’s message to people.

“21st century is an information century, during which more organisations will be set up to promote the state interests.” Although, Aqeel said that the network would be expanded, but he did not give any details. On the other hand, the BBC has a document which reveals that the plan envisages establishing 44 radio stations under the army-sponsored network. 

Some analysts are saying that the army is attempting an institution parallel to Radio Pakistan, which will face drastic effects because of the venture, a view rejected by Colonel Aqeel.

Thinking logically on Balochistan

After six decades of independence, the debate should not focus on whether Balochistan or part(s) of this geographically largest province of Pakistan willingly joined the state of Pakistan at the time of its independence or there was a forced accession. Rather, the debate should focus on the ways and means of addressing the grievances of Baloch people by those, occupying the driving seats in the Federal capital, Islamabad as well as in the province of Balochistan. Historians, writers, scholars and above all, the media should play their part in bringing out the nation from these worthless debates and discussions. Since the none-issue was irrationally puffed-up by some feudal (Baloch sardars), over the years, mainly because of their personnel gains, therefore, the global players, exploited the situation to their best interests and against the state of Pakistan.


Owing to its strategic location, the conspiracies against Balochistan are dates back to pre-partition. Indeed, this landmass of Pakistan joins various regions of Asia, hence got the attention of international actors at all time. Apart from the covert conspiracies against Pakistan over Balochistan by some global spying networks, the US lawmaker Dana Rohrabacher has very recently assigned for himself the role of frontline runner to fight the Baloch case in the US. It is very surprising that, the research of Rohrabacher could found after sixty-five years of the independence of Pakistan, that, “the Baloch Khanate of Kalat was founded which functioned as an independent, sovereign country.” What he could not research that some US states also declared their independence, until reunited at the end of US civil war. We must say that he is a very scrupulous researcher, or else, a buffoon, latecomer, trying to catch the flight that has already took off.


To put the record straight, particularly for those readers who may have misconception that, how Balochistan became part of Pakistan, I do not find any logic in these unfounded demands and debates at this point of time. Nevertheless, the reality is that, the Khan of Kalat Mir Ahmed Yar Khan, who initially decided to keep the Khanate as independent state unconditionally acceded with Pakistan, on the request of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. However, the Instrument of Accession was signed on 27th March 1948. Earlier, other parts of the Balochistan decided to become part of Pakistan through a referendum held on June 3, 1947, under the British Government, as done elsewhere in the united India. The fifty-four members of the Shahi Jirga, and Quetta Municipality voted to join Pakistan.

While analyzing the Baloch history, one would learn that, under the sardari system, the people of Balochistan had no voice of their own, thus practically remained subservient class. Deliberately, these Baloch masses were kept economically backward and illiterate by these sardars. In the past, whenever, these sardars had differences with Federal Government, would use the remote and educationally backward masses against the state of Pakistan. On their part, the successive federal governments too did not play a part to change the status quo in the province. Owing to the typical nature of the tribal system, these governments allowed the sardars to continue exploiting the Baloch masses and federal governments too.


The current situation in the province indeed, is a sum total of the follies of the past rulers of the country. It is because of their deliberate overlooking of the socio-economic condition of masses that the situation has worsened to this level. Federation maintained a policy of pleasing the sardars and ignoring the masses, constituting the bulk of the province indeed. In the process, the sardars exploited both as per their convenience. Even today, those masses being used by sardars to challenge the writ of the government are unaware of the motives behind. They act as per the ordain of sardars. Mostly the insurgents are the paid murderers of the sardars and now international players too. Even after having known all the facts, those at the helm of affairs are keeping mum over the extraordinarily changing situation.

Indeed, neither someone in the Province or at the Federal level is ready to address the real cause, as if someone else will do it for them. There has developed an environment, where everyone shifts the blame to another. As disclosed by a minister of Balochistan, some of the ministers and MPs are involved in the abduction cases of the Baloch masses. The disclosure is an eye opener for everyone that, those whom masses elected as their representatives are involved in the heinous crimes of Baloch abduction and human smuggling.


No Government in the Federation or in the province has ever tried to seriously understand and resolve the socio-economic problems of the province. There have been announcements of packages for the socio-economic uplift of the province, but, practically those were only for the political consumptions. Aaghaaz-a-Haqooq Balochistan was a huge political stunt of the incumbent Government, whose implementation has not been felt in any part of the province as yet. This project remained on papers only and sufferance of the people is a matter of routine without a change. In the previous governments too, there have been such political gimmicks without practical manifestation. I am afraid that, if still sardars are paid the funds as an appeasing policy, that means we have not learnt anything from our past history.


Then there are the cases of the missing persons. It is very easy to blame Frontier Corps Balochistan, Pak Army, ISI and other law enforcement agencies as responsible for those, but very difficult to prove that. This indeed is a global format, followed by domestic media, some analysts and writers. Then, there have been discovery of mutilated and disfigured bodies of some Baloch missing persons. Even for those, sub-nationalists, media and some analysts are bashing these LEAs. Astonishingly, no one has ever bothered to think logically that, after all, who is the beneficiary of this entire game? What advantages these acts would bring for the security forces, except bringing bad name. Should an organization or agency would like to earn bad name for it. Surely, not. Should national and provincial LEAs create hatred for themselves? This is a big question mark.


Whereas those involved in various crimes must be dealt as per the law of the land, the issue of missing persons needs serious inquiry and investigations by an impartial body, rather involving into a blame game. After all, FC, Army and ISI are for the security of Pakistan and its people. How can they exceed the limits and involve themselves in extra-judicial killing of Baloch people. Let us think logically, find out the conspiracies behind, the beneficiaries of this entire campaign and above all, the motives behind. Failure to these, we will keep wandering in the darkness in search of invisible light across the tunnel.

Obey SC or we'll call in Army: CJ Iftikhar Chaudhary

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court judges Friday raged in fury as not only did FC IG flout their order to appear before them but police also said they have proof FC picked the three missing persons the court had ordered to produce. Hearing the case of missing persons and law and order situation in Balochistan, the two-member bench directed provincial Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hamid Shakeel to produce the three persons, or he and the Frontier Corps Balochistan Inspector General (FC IG) Obaidullah Khattak will have to appear in the next hearing.

The bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry himself, had warned on last hearing that if the FC IG would not show up then strict action would be taken against him. The court warned if police and FC continued to ignore its orders, it will order military authorities to take the necessary action. The chief justice expressed his annoyance when FC's Major Sohail told him that the officer was busy and therefore he could not appear before the bench. "Which institution is greater (even) than the Supreme Court," the displeased CJP remarked, adding the court cannot accept the Major as a representative of FC in the case at hand.

The bench also observed that federal government was not taking interest in Balochistan issues as no one was appearing in the hearing on its behalf. Balochistan Advocate General Amanullah Kunrani prayed to the bench to give time till Monday for appearance of FC IG and IGP. The court noted the two officers will be granted time if they assure the bench of producing the three missing persons. IGP Hamid Shakeel told court the persons concerned were picked up by FC and they got CCTV footage showing FC vehicle taking them away. “If people are continued to be picked up like this, it will bring a bad name to the institution”, the CJ remarked, adding that families of missing persons too have named FC.

The court directed police to produce footage in next hearing, directing both IGs to produce missing men on Monday or appear in person to explain the situation. “If the officers ignored court orders, Corps Commander (army) will be directed to do the needful”, the CJ warned.
