UK Helped India in 1984 Sikh Genocide; Thatcher's Letter to Indra Gandhi Leaked

(January 15, 2014)—Margaret Thatcher gave her Indian counterpart Indira Gandhi Britain’s full support in the immediate aftermath of the 1984 [Sikh Genocide], according to private correspondence seen by the Guardian.

The then British prime minister sent a personal note saying that Britain supported India’s unity in the face of demands for a separate [Sikh homeland—demands that became stronger after the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Sikhs.]

The letter will cause further debate about Britain’s role in the raid among the worldwide Sikh community and senior MPs across the political spectrum after it was disclosed on Monday that the Indian government had made an apparent request for advice from the SAS in the months leading up to the raid.

It will form part of an investigation launched by the cabinet secretary, Sir Jeremy Heywood, on the orders of David Cameron to determine the British government’s actions over the raid on Sikhism’s holiest site in Amritsar.

The Indian government says about 400 people were killed when Gandhi sent troops into the temple complex in June 1984 in the six-day Operation Blue Star. Sikh [and independent third party] groups, which have called for an inquiry into the British role in “one of the darkest episodes in Sikh history”, put the death toll in the thousands, including many pilgrims. [It has been documented in recent years that thousands of Sikhs were cremated in mass graves in order to cover up the atrocities.]

In what appears to be the first letter to Gandhi after the raid, sent on 30 June 1984, Thatcher wrote: “These have been anxious weeks for you, involving difficult decisions. I have followed closely your efforts to restore calm there, and I very much hope that the ‘healing touch’ for which you have called will open the way to a peaceful and prosperous future in that troubled region.”

The letter, which is in response to two sent by Gandhi on 9 and 14 June, appears to show that the Indian prime minister had expressed worries that [so-called] Sikh “extremists” could use Britain as a base. Thatcher wrote: “I well appreciate your concern about the potential security threat posed by extremists outside India. We are determined not to allow our traditional freedoms to be abused by those who seek to use violence for political ends.”

In an apparent reference to death threats against Gandhi which had been reported in the British media, the UK prime minister who died last year wrote: “We have made sure the police are aware of these statements and they are investigating them.”

Thatcher also reassured Gandhi that British police were “devoting considerable resources” to safeguarding Indian government personnel in Britain.

A few months after the letter was sent, Gandhi was [executed by her own Sikh bodyguards for her continued acts of Genocide. This triggered further pre-planned pogroms causing the deaths of thousands of Sikhs across India.]

Other documents in the file make clear Whitehall’s interest in lucrative arms sales to India at this time. A secret Foreign Office briefing dated 22 June 1984, which was sent to Downing Street, stressed that British “commercial interests” in India were “very substantial. It it a large and growing market for both commercial and defence sales. British exports in 1983 exceeded £800m and since 1975 India has bought British defence equipment worth over £1.25bn,” the document claims.

Cameron on Wednesday appeared to downplay the likelihood of an inquiry finding evidence that Britain was to blame for the [genocide]. Labour’s former deputy chairman Tom Watson suggested the British might have played a part in the assault on the temple in exchange for the Indians agreeing to purchase a fleet of helicopters in a £65m deal.

Watson said to Cameron: “On your Amritsar inquiry, instead of ordering the civil servants to investigate, why don’t you just ask lords Geoffrey Howe and Leon Brittan what they agreed with Margaret Thatcher, and whether it had anything to do with the Westland Helicopter deal at the time?” Cameron dismissed any suggestions of a conspiracy.

Thank you for your letter of 14 June about the problems in the Punjab. These have been anxious weeks for you, involving difficult decisions. I have followed closely your efforts to restore calm there, and I very much hope that the ‘healing touch’ for which you have called will open the way to a peaceful and prosperous future for that troubled region.
Needless to say, we in the United Kingdom fully support India’s unity. I well appreciate your concern about the potential security threat posed by extremists outside India. We are determined not to allow out traditional freedoms to be abused by those who seek to use violence for political ends.
I know that certain remarks carried by the media in Britain have caused distress in India. We have made sure the police are aware of these statements, and they are investigating them. As you know, the media are independent in Britain, as they are in India. This means that the government does not interfere in media decisions, however much we may personally regret them.
I know that you are also concerned about the safety of your government’s personnel and premises in this country. We firmly intend to fulfil our responsibility to protect them. The police are devoting considerable resources to this task. They will of course continue to need the fullest co-operation and assistance from your people.

A Russian warship was detected off the coast of Scotland the night of December 23, reveals the Daily Mail.
And this is not the first time:

This is the second such incident in two years. In December 2011, the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, anti-submarine ship Admiral Chabanenko and escort ship Yaroslav Mudry sailed close to Scotland before being challenged by the Royal Navy.

The Russians claim that the ship was seeking shelter from bad weather:
The Russian military news agency Interfax-AVN reported at the time that the fleet was on route to Syria and took shelter in the Moray Firth when faced with deteriorating weather conditions. ­However, some ­commentators ­believe that the country is ­testing Britain’s response times to such an incursion.

مولوی فضل اللہ کا تحریک طالبان پاکستان کی باگ ڈور سنبھالنا حکیم اللہ محسود کے مار ے جانے سے کہیں زیادہ اہم خبر ہے۔ اس تبدیلی کے نتائج صرف فاٹا کی ایک ایجنسی تک محدود نہیں رہیں گے بلکہ نام نہاد امن مذاکرات، تحریک طالبان کی کارروائیوں کے اہداف، سوات میں امن، پاکستان افغانستان تعلقات کے علاوہ پاکستان اور امریکا کے درمیان فوجی سطح پر مذاکرات اور بات چیت بھی ان سے متاثر ہو سکتی ہے۔

مولوی فضل اللہ ان عسکریت پسندوں میں سے ایک ہے جو پاکستان کی ریاست سے ہر طرح کی ٹکر لینے کے لیے اُس وقت سے کمربستہ ہے جب سے وہ پراسرار طور پر سوات کے گرد پاکستان آرمی کے تنگ گھیر ے میں سے مکھن کے بال کی طرح نکل کر سرحد کے اُس پار کنڑ صوبے میں جا پہنچا۔ اِس معاملے پر اُن دنوں میری پشاور میں موجود عسکری حکام سے طویل بحث ہوا کرتی تھی۔ میں دوسر ے صحافیوں کی طرح یہ جاننے کے لیے بیتاب تھا کہ اتنے کامیاب آپریشن کے باوجود مالا کنڈ ڈویژن اور اردگرد کے اضلاع میں ریاست کے خلاف شورش برپا کرنے کے پلان کا سرغنہ پکڑ ا کیو ں نہ جا سکا؟ مولوی فضل اللہ جو اس وقت بعض خبروں کے مطابق زخمی حالت میں تھا، کبھی بھی ان پھرتیلے لڑاکوں کے طور پر نہیں مانا جاتا تھا جو گھائو کھانے کے باوجود بڑی مہارت سے اپنی جگہ تبدیل کر لیتے تھے۔

لحیم شحیم، فربہ جسم کا مالک مولوی فضل اللہ مشکل راستوں پر چلنے کا عادی نہیں تھا۔ اُس کا کام ریڈیو کے ذریعے واعظ کرنا اور اپنے کمانڈرز کو احکامات جاری کرنا تھا۔ مجھے اپنے سوال کا جواب کبھی نہیں ملا۔ جب بھی مولوی فضل اللہ کا قصہ اٹھایا جاتا تو یا خاموشی اور یا پھر عدم دلچسپی کا اظہار بطور ردعمل سامنے آتا۔ اُس وقت ایک انتہائی قابل اور ابھی بھی حاضر سروس عسکری لیڈر اکثر صحافیوں کے فضل اللہ سے متعلق سوالوں کو ’’غیر ضروری‘‘ یا ’’غیر اہم‘‘ قرار دیتے تھے۔ اُن کا کہنا تھا کہ مولوی فضل اللہ جیسے لوگوں کے پیچھے جانا وسائل کے غلط استعمال کے زمر ے میں آتا ہے۔ وہ سمجھتے تھے کہ مالا کنڈ ڈویژن میں عسکریت پسندوں کی شکست بھرپور تھی۔ مولوی فضل اللہ بطور خطرہ مکمل طور پر ٹھکانے لگ چکا تھا لہذا اس پر توجہ دینے کی ضرورت نہیں تھی۔

پاکستان کے فیصلہ ساز اداروں میں اس قسم کی سوچ اُس وقت بھی تبدیل نہیں ہوئی جب فضل اللہ نے صحت یاب ہونے کے بعد کنڑ کے گورنر کی سربراہی میں ایک بڑا لشکر تشکیل دیا۔ جس کو نہ پیسے کی کمی تھی نہ سرحد پار جنگ کے سامان کی۔ باجوڑ میں فضل اللہ کی طرف سے بڑھتی ہوئی کارروائیوں اور مسلسل جھڑپوں پر ہماری طرف سے احتجاج تو کیا گیا مگر کبھی بھی تسلسل کے ساتھ یہ مطالبہ نہیں کیا گیا کہ ہمار ے ملک میں اس دراندازی کو روکا جائے اور فضل اللہ کو ہمار ے حوالے کیا جائے۔ اس کے برعکس حکومتوں نے یہ جانتے ہوئے کہ صدر حامد کرزئی اور غیر ملکی انٹیلی جنس کے ادارے فضل اللہ کو پاکستان کے خلاف ایک زمینی ڈرون کی طرح استعمال کر رہے ہیں۔ کابل کے ساتھ تعلقات بہتر بنانے کی خواہش کو ترک نہیں کیا۔ اب یہی فضل اللہ افغانستان میں سے اس تنظیم کی باگ ڈور سنبھالے ہوئے ہے جسے حکیم اللہ محسود اور اس سے پہلے بیت اللہ محسود نے وزیرستان میں رہتے ہوئے ملک اور قوم پر حملوں کے لیے استعمال کیا۔ دوسرے الفاظ میں مولوی فضل اللہ کی صورت میں تحریک طالبان پاکستان اب تحریک طالبان پاکستان افغانستان بن گئی ہے۔

افغانستان، انڈین اور امریکی انٹیلی جنس ایجنسیز کے لیے اس سے اچھی خبر شاید اور کوئی نہ ہو۔ یہ تمام ممالک پچھلے کئی سال سے یہی الزام لگاتے چلے آ رہے ہیں کہ حقانی نیٹ ورک اور ملا عمر پاکستان میں رہتے ہوئے نیٹو اور آئی سیف کے خلاف جنگ میں مصروف ہیں۔ پچھلے دنوں امریکا کے خصوصی ایلچی برائے افغانستان پاکستان جیمز ڈوبن نے پاکستان کی وزرات خارجہ کو چند صفحات پر مبنی ایک دستاویز دی۔ جس میں امریکا کی طرف سے حقانی نیٹ ورک کی بڑی بڑی کارروائیوں کو پاکستان کے کھاتے میں دکھایا گیا ہے۔ یوں لگ رہا ہے کہ مولوی فضل اللہ کو اب پاکستان کے ساتھ حقانی نیٹ ورک کے معاملے پر پیشرفت کرنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جائے گا۔

مگر اس سلسلے میں  اس دبائو کو بھی نظر انداز نہیں کیا جا سکتا جو مولوی فضل اللہ کا تحریک طالبان کی کمانڈ سنبھالنے کے بعد اوباما انتظامیہ پر پڑ سکتا ہے چونکہ حکیم اللہ محسود کو مارنے پر واشنگٹن نے یہ نقطہ نظر اپنایا ہے کہ اس کے قتل سے انھوں نے پاکستان کی تحریک طالبان کے خلاف کارروائیوں میں حصہ ڈالا ہے جو ان کی طرف سے اچھی دوستی کا ثبوت ہے نہ کہ مذاکرات کو ناکام بنانے کی کوئی سازش۔ لہذا امریکا کو منطقی طور پر یہی فارمولا مولوی فضل اللہ سے متعلق بھی اپنانا ہو گا۔ بالخصوص ان حالات میں کہ جب تحریک طالبان کا یہ قائد افغانستان میں موجود ہے جس کی ہر طرح کی نقل و حرکت امریکا کے جدید ترین ریڈارز پر  چوبیس گھنٹے تصویروں کے ساتھ نظر آتی رہتی ہے۔ اگر پاکستان کی طرف سے مولوی ٖفضل اللہ کے خلاف امریکی مدد کا مطالبہ کیا جائے مگر مسترد ہو جائے تو واضح ہو جائے گا کہ اب تحریک طالبان کس کا اثاثہ بن گئی ہے۔ مگر مولوی فضل اللہ کو پکڑنے کا مطالبہ کرے گا کون؟ میاں محمد نواز شریف کی حکومت نے تحریک طالبان کو عملًا اپنا منہ بولا بھائی بنا لیا ہے۔ پاکستان تحریک انصاف پہلے سے ہی اس نظریاتی رشتے میں بندھی ہوئی ہے لہذا اس ماحول میں افغانستان کا تحریک طالبان کا اڈہ بنایا جانا موجودہ حکومت ہضم کرنے کی کو شش کرے گی۔

بہر حال اس کے باجود طالبان کے ساتھ بات چیت کے عمل کو آگے بڑھانے کی راہ میں موجود نئے مسائل سے دامن چھڑ انا ممکن نہیں ہو گا۔ ریاست کے عہدیداران کے مطابق مولوی فضل اللہ قانون کے تحت مطلوب اور ایک خطرناک مجرم ہے جو ایک غیر ملک میں بیٹھ کر وہاں کی انٹیلی جنس ایجنسیز کی مدد سے پاکستان کی سرزمین پر قتل و غارت گری کا مرتکب ہو رہا ہے۔ اگر ریاست پاکستان کا یہ موقف برقرار رہتا ہے تو فضل اللہ کی قیادت میں چلنے والی تنظیم سے ’’بھائی بندی‘‘ والی بات چیت آگے کیسے بڑھے گی؟ اس کا جواب وزیر اعظم نواز شریف اور عمران خان کو دینا ہو گا۔ اس دوران سوات کے اندر اضطراب اور خوف کی جس نئی لہر نے جنم لے لیا ہے اس پر توجہ دینے کی ضرورت ہے۔ مولوی فضل اللہ ایک ’’غیر اہم مفر ور‘‘ کے مقا م سے اٹھ کر تحریک طالبان کے قائد کی مسند پر جا بیٹھا ہے۔ وہ اس وقت وہ تمام بدلے چکا سکتا ہے جو اس سرزمین سے نکلتے وقت اس نے اپنے ذہن پر نقش کیے تھے۔

وہ بدلے کیسے ہوں گے، یہ سمجھنے کے لیے آپ کو اسلام آباد کی پرامن فضا اور لاہور کے باغات اور رونقوں سے باہر نکل کر سوات جانا ہو گا۔ یہاں کے باسی اِس سو چ میں پڑ ے ہوئے ہیں کہ اگر میاں نواز شریف، عمران خان اور مولوی فضل اللہ نے ایک ہی تصویر کے تین رخ بن جانا تھا تو ان کو نواز لیگ اور تحریک انصاف کے بجائے، تحریک نفاذ شریعت محمدی کو ہی اپنا سیاسی والی مان کر منتخب کر لینا چاہیے تھا۔ ایک خاتون یہ سوچ کر پریشان ہو رہی تھیں کہ ان کے خاندان نے خواہ مخواہ سواتی طالبان سے جھگڑا مول لیا اور اب حضرت مولانا فضل اللہ کابل، اسلام آباد، لاہور اور پشاور میں حاکم سیاسی قوتوں کے منظور نظر ہو کر مینگورہ کے بیچ اپنا پرانا دفتر دوبارہ کھولے گا تو کیا ہو گا؟ میں نے ان کا غم غلط کرنے کے لیے کوئی تجویز نہیں دی۔ نہ ہی تسلی کہ ایسا نہیں ہو گا۔ نواز لیگ اور تحریک انصاف کے حلقوں میں آجکل طالبان کی محبت عروج پر ہے۔ محبت میں سب کچھ کیا جا سکتا ہے۔

UK pushing 100,000 more Kids into Poverty

The British government’s squeeze on benefits is to force a further 100,000 children from working families into poverty, ministers have admitted for the first time.

According to official figures, a total of 200,000 children will be pushed into poverty as a result of British Chancellor George Osborne’s plan to limit annual increases in working-age benefits to 1 percent from April.

Moreover, Liberal Democrat pensions minister Steve Webb disclosed that 50 percent of those children come from families where at least one parent works.

The new figures seem to undermine the Chancellor’s claims that his cap on benefits is designed to target Britain's jobless "shirkers".

"The Government wants to run away from the problem and ignore the fact that half the children pushed into poverty as a result of the strivers' tax have parents who are working hard while this Government makes life even more difficult for them,” said shadow employment minister, Stephen Timms.

"Children should not pay the price of this Government's economic failure,” he added.

The cap on benefit handouts was approved by British MPs on January 8, despite a move by some Labour and Liberal Democrats to block it.

NATO's Afghan Rats Fire 7 Mortar Shells into Pakistan

PESHAWAR - At least seven mortar shells were fired from Afghan soil which landed in the border area of Ghulam Khan in North Waziristan Agency on Wednesday afternoon, security officials said. They confirmed the shelling by unidentified people believed to be Afghan security personnel, did not incur any casualties to local residents. The shelling, according to the sources, continued for several minutes. The mortar shells were fired from Tarkhobi area in Afghanistan's Khost province.

Cross-border shelling by NATO's paid rats has heightened tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan as the two countries accuse each other of firing. Islamabad has been repeatedly asking Kabul to stop cross-border shelling, the Afghan puppet officials however deny any involvement and blame Pakistan for violating border sovereignty. Local officials said a dozen people including security personnel have been killed or injured following missile attacks by the American Puppet Afghan National Army and CIA's so-called "Afghan" mercenaries during the past months.

UK to aid France in Terrorizing Mali with Intervention

Britain has announced it will provide France with logistical support during its Mali intervention as French forces stepped up airstrikes against Islamist militants fighting government troops in the North African country. The British terrorist prime minister has welcomed France’s decision to intervene in the North African country to "help" the Malian army halt a rebel advance towards the capital Bamako.

"The Prime Minister has agreed that the UK will provide logistical military assistance to help transport foreign troops and equipment quickly to Mali," David Cameron's office said in a statement on Saturday, adding that London is not going to deploy British personnel in a combat role. Downing Street said two military transport planes would be deployed, AFP says. Over 100 rebels and dozens of Malian + French troops have been killed as Malian troops backed by the French military fought for control of the strategic town of Konna.

Meanwhile, Paris announced on Saturday that a French pilot had been killed in an air raid over Konna. "During this intense combat, one of our pilots… was fatally wounded," French Defense Minister Jean

-Yves Le Drian said in a statement. The pilot was wounded during the operation and later died in hospital. This comes just two days after France sent hundreds of troops to its former colony. The West African regional bloc ECOWAS, will begin sending troops to Mali on Monday.

French airstrikes overnight pushed back Islamist rebels from Konna and destroyed a rebel command center, Le Drian said. The deployment of French troops has been met with anger from Islamist group Ansar Dine, which said the move will have “consequences for French citizens in the Muslim world.” Ansar Dine is fighting on the frontline of the battle of Konna. “We are actually in Konna for jihad," an Ansar Dine spokesperson told AFP on Friday.

French President Francois Hollande says the country will raise its domestic terror threat level as a result of the military operations. He promised to increase protection at public buildings and transportation networks. France decided to take military action after a plea from Mali’s president, and says the intervention will last as long as necessary. However, many critics say France may have had its own motivations for deploying troops in the country.

On Thursday, the UN Security Council called for “rapid deployment” of international forces in Mali to combat the Islamist militants in the north of the country. Given the latest developments in the West African country, the members of the UNSC “expressed their determination to pursue the full implementation” of its resolutions on Mali, in particular Resolution 2085, adopted in December, which authorizes the deployment of over 3,000 African-led international troops. The support force approved by the UN had not been expected to be deployed until September 2013.

Ansar Dine and Mujao have controlled most of northern Mali since last April. They formed an alliance with Tuareg rebels following a military coup in March. However, their alliance quickly collapsed, with the Islamists capturing the area's urban centers and marginalizing the Tuareg rebels.

Princess Diana Murdered by MI6 Death Squad: Report

RUSSIAN intelligence agents in France had become suspicious of the sudden arrival of three senior MI6 officers in Paris before Princess Diana’s death, a new book claims.

Author Gennady Sokolov argues that she was killed in “a distinctly English murder” contracted out by the British spies.

In the book, to be published in ­Moscow next year, he will say the most likely scenario is that a microchip was planted in her car enabling its steering and brakes to be disabled on a signal from an operative who joined the chasing paparazzi.

He claims: “There will never be documents about it. Never. Those responsible must all have been liquidated. The traces have also gone. Some of the witnesses disappeared in the strangest manner.”

Sokolov, who has many contacts in the Russian secret services, said the MI6 officers had arrived and stayed incognito. “Normally when players of such rank are in the country the host intelligence services are aware about it. Here DST (French counter intelligence) had no idea.

“Our people were following them. After all, they were leading faces of British intelligence. Whatever people say about our guys from Yasenevo (headquarters of Russian foreign intelligence, the SVR) they know their rivals very well.”

Sokolov claimed he had met Russian operatives who were involved in seeking to establish the role of the senior British agents in France.

The presence of MI6 figures was known to the Scotland Yard inquiry into Diana’s death headed by former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens.

An inquest returned a verdict of unlawful killing, blaming the drunken driving of Ritz hotel security boss Henri Paul and pursuing paparazzi photographers for the fatal crash in the Alma tunnel in August, 1997.

The security services have always denied any involvement in the Princess’s death.

Sokolov’s claims echo some of the views of Mohamed Al Fayed, whose son Dodi, Diana’s lover, also died in the crash. The author’s dossier on the Princess’s death was passed to the former Harrods owner before the inquest, though he never had any contact with the tycoon, he said.

In an article in the Komsoloskaya Pravda newspaper, Sokolov said he had identified “at least three dozen absurdities” which point to foul play and a sophisticated cover-up.

“Diana became a real threat to the Windsors,” he said. “There was a strong rumour she was pregnant and I think that it was not a coincidence that her body was mummified an hour before it was sent to London. After that it would be impossible to identify if she was pregnant.”

America, Britain against Pakistan's Nukes: Defence Secretary

ISLAMABAD  - The United States of Zionism and Britain are against Pakistan's nuclear program and the CIA uses ‘foreign agencies’ for its operations in Pakistan, Defence Secretary Lt-Gen (r) Asif Yasin Malik has said. Talking to media at the defence ministry here on Friday, Asif Yasin also said that they had ‘complete information’ of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agents working in Pakistan, and USZ had provided a list of its spies.

But neither the defence secretary divulged when the USZ informed them about its sleuths nor did he clarify if their ‘complete information’ was solely based on the list provided by the USZ, whose behaviour with Pakistan, he said, had ‘changed’ after Salala checkpost attack and subsequent suspension of NATO supplies. Lt-Gen declared that no country was allowed to work undercover in Pakistan. Also when he also said, “The CIA also uses the agencies of other countries”, he most probably meant NGOs, media organisations and obviously the CIA's Lap Dog, India's RAW.

General Asif said, “There is no formal agreement between CIA and the ISI for secret operations.” He also said 95% of defence policy is made by the three defence services on the basis of mutual consultation, leaving one to assume the civilian government might have been doing the remaining five per cent work. About possible operation in North Waziristan, the defence secretary said that the operation in the agency could not be successful until sealing off the Pak-Afghan border. He however emphasised that the army has all the capacity to launch an operation in the NWA. He also said that negotiations were going on for the replacement of spy aircraft that were damaged at Mehran and Kamra bases.

Amid hyperactively spread speculations by the Zionist owned Pakistani Media that the Army was trying its best to avert any harm to its former bosses involved in 1991 vote fraud, the defence minister said that his ministry had ‘no objection’ if the government took any action against former Army Chief General (r) Aslam Beg and former ISI Chief Lt General (r) Asad Durrani in the light of SC verdict in Asghar Khan case. He however revealed that the ministry has received no communication from the law ministry for implementation of the SC order. When such a letter is received, they would proceed ahead, he added.

About the puppet government's corruption-hit Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), he said that the airline was in profit since this September- that is for almost past three months. He said that almost 200 employees including four pilots had been sacked for fake educational degrees, and a list of 350 officials has been prepared who were appointed on the basis of fake degrees. He said that no downsizing would be done in the airline on the basis of golden handshake or on any other ground.

The PIA owes a loan of Rs152 billion while its overall deficit is to the tune of Rs192 billion, the secretary said, adding that it suffered a loss of Rs410 million during Haj operation. General (r) Asif Yasin said that former PIA Deputy Chairman Saleem Sayani was appointed in 2009 at a salary of Rs. 5 million and his case has been referred to NAB.

“Government is working on a policy to get the PIA out of loss," he said, and added that the PIA would purchase 12 planes including four new A-320 planes and eight small planes. He said an amount of $4.5 million has been released for the purchase of passenger planes. The defence secretary said that of the 34 aircraft fleet of PIA, 28 are operational. He said all the appointments on political basis have been banned and all the pilots and air hostesses would be graduates.

SUKKUR  – A truck carrying a huge stash of arms and ammunition was seized and two culprits arrested in a Thursday noon raid on National Highway near Ghotki district of Sindh province. Besides hashish, hand grenades, rockets, suicide vests and detonators were seized from the vehicle. Initial investigation suggested that the explosive material was being transported to Karachi from Peshawar. Sources said the arrested culprits, Riaz and Ghulam Hyder, belonged to South Waziristan, adding that they had been shifted to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

An excise police team spotted a suspected truck on Punjab-Sindh border and upon search found hand grenades, suicide jackets, rockets, launchers and other arms covered in a quilt in it. The Bomb Disposal Squad was called from Sukkur to ascertain the actual number of suicide jackets and other explosive material.

Economic Collapse: Japan's Economy, Exports Rapidly Shrinking

While investors are focused on the out of control eurozone crisis, Japan’s economy is showing signs of contraction as its GDP fell last quarter by 3.5%, the most since the earthquake and tsunami in early 2011, while exports and consumer spending slumped.

­The results fell below analysts’ expectations, which predicted Japan’s GDP to decline 3.4 % in the Q3, according to a Bloomberg News survey last week. It was expected to be the third technical recession since 2008.

“The GDP figures were grim," Japanese PM Yoshihiko Noda told parliament after the data was released. Noda is preparing for an election and has pledged to speed up government efforts to boost the economy. Weaker results could undermine his efforts including a crucial plan to raise the national sales tax from 2014 to boost revenues. The proposed measure would be the first tax rise in more than a decade and is considered politically controversial.

“Today’s bad economic numbers deliver unpleasant news for Noda,” Hiroshi Shiraishi, senior economist at BNP Paribas SA in Tokyo, told Bloomberg. “It will take a while for Japan to get back to a sound recovery, considering a modest pick-up in the global economy at best and the country’s damaged relationship with China.”

Japan suffered the worst September trade result in more than 30 years amid the territorial row with China. The long running dispute re-emerged after the Noda administration’s bought a group of islands that China also claims. Exports to China – Japan’s biggest trading partner – sank 14% from a year earlier to 953.4 billion yen ($12.2 billion). Meanwhile the spreading crisis in Europe also hurt Japanese exports.

Weaker exports have hit Japanese corporate majors such as Sharp, Panasonic, and Nissan, which heavily rely on foreign trade. Panasonic  forecast a $9.5bln loss this year, 30 times bigger than analyst estimates, while Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. and Nissan Motor Co. cut their full- year profit forecasts and cosmetics major Shiseido Co. plans spending cuts.

At the end of October the Bank of Japan expanded its asset-purchase program by 11 trillion yen ($137bln) to 91 trillion yen for the second time in two months. With the new weak figures the BoJ is likely to continue its supporting policy under political pressure, experts believe.

High debt burden is another problem of the Japanese economy. Earlier this year the US-based Fitch rating agency cut Japan's Long-Term Foreign and Local Currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) to 'A+' from 'AA' and 'AA-' respectively. The move reflects “growing risks for Japan's sovereign credit profile as a result of high and rising public debt ratios,” according to Andrew Colquhoun, Head of Asia-Pacific Sovereigns at Fitch.

Japan's general government debt is expected to hit 239% of GDP by the end of 2012, compared to the average 39% for OECD economies and 8% for 'A' –rated economies. Even Greece has a debt of 178% of GDP. This debt ratio has risen by 61% since the global financial crisis broke out.

However, Fitch considers that broader private sector savings, official foreign reserves worth $1.3 trillion and the fact that the Japanese yen is a global reserve currency will help the country’s economy to stay firm.

David Cameron fooling the world on MI5 Asset Abu Qatada's release from prison

Following British authorities “reluctantly” releasing Abu Qatada from prison on bail after a British court ruled the so-called "Muslim" cleric should not be extradited to Jordan, British prime minister David Cameron complained,

“I am completely fed up with the fact that this man is still at large in our country. We believe he is a threat to our country… We have moved heaven and earth to try and comply with every single dot and comma of every single convention to get him out of the country.”

Mr. Cameron would like the British people to believe he is disgusted with the misdeeds of Mr. Qatada. Cameron, however, is leaving out the part about Qatada’s service to British intelligence.

Abu Qatada, described as the so-called “spiritual head of the mujaheddin in Europe,” worked with British intelligence and ratted out his fellow Islamic extremists. In 1997, he met with MI5 and French officials say his continued cooperation with the authorities allowed him to avoid arrest after the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. The MI5 went so far as to set him up in a safe house and protect him.

Qatada’s friend, Bisher al-Rawi, served as an informant and a go-between MI5 and Qatada in numerous meetings between late 2001 and 2002. Al-Rawi also served as Qatada’s MI5 translator.

The cozy relationship ended in 2002 when Qatada was arrested, mostly because he was an embarrassment – he had attempted to morally justify the attacks in New York and Washington D.C.

NATO's Puppet ANA Proudly Kills 4 Pakistani Civiians including 2 Children

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has strongly condemned the cross-border shelling by the NATO's puppet Afghan National Army which led to the death of four Pakistani civilians including two children, a private TV channel reported on Sunday. Quoting military sources, the channel reported that the Afghan National Army fired from KK Top on villagers who were returning home after collecting firewood in Nernarai area near the Pak-Afghan border on Sunday evening.

A civilian car was hit by the mortar attack which left two children and other occupants of the vehicle dead. According to military sources, Pakistan has protested against this unprovoked shelling in the strongest of words. There have been frequent incidents of cross-border violations by the Afghan forces in 2012. However, such attacks continue despite protests by Pakistan. Many Pakistani civilians and security personnel have been killed in these cross-border attacks by the Afghan forces.

British Terrorists Invaded 90% of World's Countries

A new study has shown that the warmongering British regime has invaded 90 percent of all countries around the globe in its colourful history. The study contained in a new book entitled, “All the Countries We’ve Ever Invaded: And the Few We Never Got Round To”, says from among 200 countries in the world only 22 have not experienced an invasion by the British. Those countries which have remained safe from the British colonial adventurism include nations such as Guatemala, Tajikistan and the Marshall Islands, as well some slightly closer to home, such as Luxembourg.

Stuart Laycock, the author, said he started to carry out research after my 11-year-old son, Frederick, asked me: “how many countries the British had invaded”. Laycock said that he was shocked by the findings after conducting almost two years of research. “I was absolutely staggered when I reached the total. I like to think I have a relatively good general knowledge. But there are places where it hadn’t occurred to me that these things had ever happened. It shocked me”, said Laycock.

“Other countries could write similar books – but they would be much shorter. I don’t think anyone could match this, although the Americans had a later start and have been working hard on it in the twentieth century”, he added. The research lists countries based on their current national boundaries and names. Many of the invasions took place when these did not apply.

Have you ever noticed something evil in the eyes of Prince Charles? If so it could be because the Prince of Wales may be descended from Count Dracula. Romania is exploiting the kinship between the Prince and the real Dracula – Romanian ruler Vlad the Impaler, to attract tourists.

The Romanian National Tourist Office has released a promotional video and brochures, in which it uses the links between the British Royalty and Count Dracula to boost tourism to Transylvania and the rest of the country, The Daily Telegraph reports.

Transylvania is best known as the land of Count Dracula, who in popular fiction drank his victims’ blood and could turn into a bat. Thousands of tourists visit the town of Castle Bran every year to see where the cruel Romanian ruler Vlad the Impaler lived. However it is also linked to British Royalty.

“The genealogy shows I am descended from Vlad the Impaler, so I do have a bit of a stake in the country,” Prince Charles said in an interview last year. In the video the Prince “traces his ancestry back to Romania’s dark and distant past.” He speaks about his kinship with the historical Dracula – Vlad Tepes or Vlad the Impaler, the 15th century ruler of the Wallachian Kingdom, and with the deeds which prompted Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel. The Prince says in a book published in 1982 by Sir Iain Moncreiffe he is listed as a great grandson 16 times removed to Vlad Tepes.

The promotional material featuring Prince Charles speaking of his relationship to the notorious Romanian ruler was launched at the World Travel Market that kicked off on Monday in London. “The link to the British Royal Family and the clear fondness the Royal Family has for the country will only help to promote the country across the Commonwealth and particularly in the UK,” The Daily Telegraph quotes Simon Press, from World Travel Market.

Indo-American Terrorism in Karachi Continues: 5 Kg Bomb Defused near Mazar-e-Quaid

An Indo-American terrorism bid was averted on Tuesday when a remote-controlled bomb was defused near Mazar-e-Quaid (the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah). Officials said the Bomb Disposal Squad was promptly called by police after people informed police helpline (15) about a suspicious parcel near Mazar-e-Quaid. The explosive material was defused within half an hour, one of the BDS members said, adding that five kilogram explosive was concealed in a packet and connected with remote-control.

He said the bomb contained ball bearings. Heavy police contingents arrived at the site and cordoned off the area, evacuating citizens from the mausoleum as the bomb recovery caused panic among area people. Earlier, Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen leader Allama Aftab Haider was shot dead along with his associate in Saddar area near Parking Plaza. His vehicle was fired upon by unknown bike riders. Karachi has been a continuous target of both India and American agents in the region in order to economically cripple Pakistan since Karachi is the trading hub of the country.

Missing Persons & Death Squads in Balochistan - Detailed Analysis

Amidst the murky environment in strife-torn Baluchistan, sudden appearance of Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader Akhtar Mengal from his self-imposed exile since 2009 was a surprise for many. He is relatively moderate and wants to settle grievances remaining within the framework of federation of Pakistan. Assurances given by Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami and above all the tough stand taken by the Supreme Court against the Army and agencies and chief justice softness for the Baloch nationalists must have encouraged him to make a brief four-day sojourn. The apparent purpose of his short sojourn to Pakistan was to reinforce the case of missing persons taken up by the Supreme Court and to give out his loaded six-point plan, which he intends to play upon in the next general elections and reinvigorate Baloch nationalism at the cost of Army’s reputation.
 
He came out with a six-point program as a means to a political settlement, but it contained hints of secession. His six points are being viewed with mixed feelings both within the general public and the nationalist Baloch leaders. Those having apprehensions are drawing parallels with late Sheikh Mujibur Rehman’s six points which divided Pakistan. Even the military see him with suspicious eyes and is not sure of his motives since Mengal has been advocating right of self-determination for the Baloch. Those in favor argue that he has broken the ice and has given a political roadmap for reconciliation which helps in building trust between estranged Baloch and the government. 

Brahamdagh Bugti, Harbyar Marri and Suleiman Daood in exile in Geneva and London respectively along with other hard-line Baloch nationalist leaders are quite vexed and view it as a sellout to the government, and a blow to their separatist agenda. Even the Baloch Sardars in the government are feeling edgy that the nationalists allegedly backed by the establishment may snatch power from them. Talal Bugti led JWP and Mir Hasil Bizenjo led NP too are having reservations. Given the conflicting perceptions, Akhtar Mengal will not have a smooth sailing. Once Akhtar decides to take part in the forthcoming elections, his opponents will dub him as a collaborator. However, the Baloch nationalists are a house-divided and stand on a weak wicket. In response to Akhtar’s demands, the Chief Justice demanded that all missing persons should be produced before the court and all proxy death squads created by the ISI and MI should be disbanded. His directive implied that he had accepted Akhtar’s contention without being furnished proof.

Chief Justice’s stance together with the visit of UN team has encouraged vested groups and external power centres harboring ill-motives against Pakistan in general and Balochistan in particular to go-ahead with their agenda. Doom-Sayers say that the final act will be played before the departure of US-NATO troops from Afghanistan, and that the UNand the US will start making overt moves in 2013 leading to declaring Balochistan an "occupied area".

The trend of enforced disappearance and involuntary disappearances in South Asian states is an old one. In Nepal where Maoist rebels had battled government forces for over a decade was confronted with this issue. In Sri Lanka where Tamil Tigers fought a secessionist war for over 30 years had one of the highest levels of unresolved enforced disappearances in the world. Well over 10,000 enforced disappearances have taken place in Indian-occupied Kashmir. However, this issue has been blown up out of all proportions in Balochistan and the figure excessively bloated to over 14000. It is strange that despite JWP leader Talal Bugti furnishing a list of just 600 missing persons to the two-member UN team, the latter remained glued with the imaginary figures of 14000. The visitors who had come with preconceived notion took no interest in the evidence presented to them about most of the missing persons hiding in Farari camps both in the mountains of interior Balochistan and in neighboring province of Afghanistan but lent receptive ears to the imaginary tales narrated by foreign paid NGOs and vested interests. The initial assessment of the UN team given in the preliminary report in which the entire focus is on law enforcement agencies indicates a clear bias.

In 2008, the propaganda on missing persons was initiated and at that time it was claimed that 2390 persons were missing. Once the judicial commission took up the case the figure dropped to 392. By the close of 2010, the figure further slumped to 134. In March 2011, second judicial commission was formed to authenticate cases of 755 missing persons including 138 noted by the first commission. Out of 755 persons, 256 persons have been located. Investigations reveal that most of the missing persons are either underground, or involved in insurgency and in heinous crimes. Many have been killed in family or personal feuds. Evidence of several missing persons present in Farari camps in Baluchistan and in Afghanistan was presented to the UN Group but this aspect was not inscribed in the UN report. It has been gathered from some of the militants who managed to escape from Farari camps that those showing inclinations to give up militancy and return home are tortured to death by death squads of BLA, BRA, BLA under the supervision of CIA, RAW, MI-6, RAAM. They revealed that the killers wore FC uniform. It is also well known that Blackwater is also involved in mysterious killings of Baloch nationalists.

Moreover, among the 77 big and small Sardars of different tribes, bigger and powerful tribes like the Bugtis, Mengals and Marris are immersed in inter-tribal rivalry. They operate private militias and jails and have death squads. Fifty tribes in Balochistan are deeply involved in major feuds because of which 14 districts are restive. Among the Sardars, Khair Bux Marri remains the fiercest proponent of separatism. He also vehemently hates Punjabi settlers in Balochistan and now it is common strategy of the dissidents to rid the province of the presence of Punjabis. He was the only one who had refused to sign the 1973 constitution. Although majority of Sardars are pro-establishment and are in the government, most are involved in corrupt and criminal practices. They are least interested in running the government machinery, and have politicized the police and levies because of which, law and order has broken down in the province.

In 2011, 565 violent acts including murder took place in the troubled districts and the number rose to 1157 in 2012. During the last six years, 1400 settlers (Punjabis and Urdu speaking) have been killed. Under the obtaining volatile environments where the security forces and agencies are battling the foreign supported insurgents under adverse conditions and are the victims of terrorism, it is indeed preposterous to make an allegation that death squads are operating under ISI and MI. Military and intelligence agencies are not to prop up armed non-state actors but are mandated to identify, operate and nab terrorists.

A thorough probe should be conducted by an independent judicial commission to trace the real culprits. It will not be difficult for the investigators to ascertain the last destination from where and for what duration the calls on mobile phone were made by the victim. The Supreme Court needs to take cognizance of the tragic incident in Chamalang coalmines where a security party of 14 soldiers under the command of Maj Shehzad Amer providing protection to mine diggers belonging to different provinces was ambushed, the security members kidnapped and brutally killed. It was a pre-meditated act by foreign agents to undermine the highly successful Army’s project which has made the people of that impoverished region prosperous and educated. The judiciary and media should strengthen the hands of law enforcement agencies rather than discouraging them and encouraging the insurgents supported by foreign
agencies.
