Karachi: Training of selected personnel from various ranks (Sub Inspector, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Seargents and Constables) of Sindh Police Force on counter urban terrorism by the Army concluded at Malir Cantonment here Monday. This 4-week intensive training course of a batch comprising of 202 policemen was held under the auspices of Karachi Corps. The program included enhancement of skills in close quarter encounter, sniper firing, repelling, cordon and search and quick reaction responses in case of any eventuality. Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Muhammad Zaheer ul Islam along with senior army and police officers witnessed a mock exercise of counter urban terrorism by the newly trained Quick Response Unit of Sindh Police. The Corps Commander commended the agility, physical fitness and fighting skills of the trainees and eulogized the efforts of Pakistan Army instructors in achieving splendid standards in a short span of time.
He expressed the hope that the spirit and dedication behind this joint training course would go a long way in improving synergy of all elements of law enforcement agencies for quick and effective response to a terrorist threat. He said that the high professional standards maintained by Pakistan Army are second to none; and Sindh Police will continue to benefit from this experience. “We all must join hands to eliminate the menace of terrorism from our society”, he added. Inspector General Sindh Police Fayyaz Ahmed Laghari thanked the Corps Commander Lieutenant General Muhammad Zahir ul Islam on behalf of Sindh Government for rendering Pak Army’s state of the art training facilities and highly professional services of the training staff.
