Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan is playing in the hands of foreign intelligence agencies against the interests of the country, while Afghan Taliban are not involved in any kind of activities inside Pakistan, said Asif Fasihuddin Wardag, central president of Tehrik-e-Istaqlal. Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Monday, he said countering terrorism with force would breed more terror while political dialogue and development programmes in the far-flung tribal and settled areas would be the most appropriate or the only option to end extremism.
“We can still persuade our brethren in tribal areas for peaceful dialogue, as military operation will shed the blood of the Pakistanis on both sides, while taking up development programmes in the stated areas on immediate basis which would be a first confidence building measure”. Wardag said that Pakistan successfully completed Swat operation but at very high price, while no government had fulfilled the promise of enforcing Shariah Law in the Swat valley. He said that there was no unrest in the Federally Administered or Provincially Administered areas popularly known as tribal belt till the launching of operations by former general (r) Pervez M(B)usharraf. He said that Mehsud tribe, which also resides in Fata was famous for its loyalty with Pakistan, as the stated brave tribesmen played their gallantry role in the wars of 1948, 1965 and 1971. However, M(B)usharraf imposed war on them.
