Hamid Mir's "DAD" threatens aggression against Pakistan

Print Friendly and PDF

Amid tensions at the Line of Control over violation by Indian forces, Indian chief hyena General Bikram Singh on Monday asked his ground commanders to be aggressive. Pakistan protested strongly the ceasefire violations committed by troops of the neighbouring country at a flag meeting held to discuss a recent flare-up and a fresh firing incident by Indian border forces which injured a Pakistani soldier. General Singh held out the threat of retaliating against Pakistan for the retaliation which killed two of the Indian intruders at the de facto border in Kashmir. His strong remarks appeared set to ratchet up tensions further, although analysts said a breakdown in ties was highly unlikely. “I expect all my commanders at the Line of Control to be both aggressive and offensive in the face of provocation and fire,” he said. “The orders are very clear: when provoked, I expect my unit commanders should fire back.”

A brigadier-level flag meeting was held at Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch sector on the LoC on Monday. Pakistan strongly protested with Indian military authorities about continuous ceasefire violations including an attempted raid by Indian troops on LoC during last week in which two Pakistani soldiers, Havaldar Ghulam Mohyuddin and Naik Muhammad Aslam embraced martyrdom while one soldier was injured,” an army statement said. “During the flag meeting, Pakistan strongly rejected the Indian allegations that Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked fire, attacked Indian post or killed Indian soldiers,” it added. Pakistan demanded a United Nations-led probe into the fresh skirmishes.  During meeting, the Indian delegation was led by Brigadier TS Sandhu, according to Indian media.

The spokesman said India also lodged its protest with Pakistan. Requesting anonymity, a brigadier in Pakistan Army told Pakistan's daily "The Nation" that both the armies had agreed to release tension and honour ceasefire following assurances from Indian army that it would abandon the bunker construction plan at the forward posts in Chondra village at the LoC, during the flag meeting. “It appeared that the matter was heading towards solution but this may not be the case,” he said commenting on the Indian army chief’s statement. “This has taken us by surprise. Everything was discussed and sorted out in the flag meeting,” the brigadier added referring to between the neighboring forces.

While India accuses Pakistani troops of entering into Indian side of the LoC to behead two Indian soldiers, Pakistan alleges that the Indian troops crossed into Pakistani area and killed two soldiers in separate incidents of cross-border attacks.Indian army chief’s belligerent statement came in a press conference in which he termed the alleged beheading of the soldier as ‘gruesome’, India’s army chief told a news conference: “We reserve the right to retaliate at a time and place of our choosing.” Singh said the alleged attack which led to the ‘beheading’ must have been planned well ahead and reiterated the claim that it was the work of the Pakistani Army. “These kinds of operations require planning of at least 10-15 days. You have to observe the activities, arrange the logistics, firepower. You have to have a plan and practice it. No one would like to leave tell-tale signs,” he went on claiming. “The clockwork precision, detailed planning and execution... is indicative of premeditated and pre-planned action of Pakistan.”

Singh said the ‘treatment’ meted out to the Indian soldiers last week was ‘an unpardonable act’ while adding that it should not lead to a breakdown in peace talks. “We want the Pakistani army to hand over the head of the soldier as soon as possible,” he said. “This incident has had strategic nuances, beheading our soldiers is not acceptable. The act was against ethics and principles of rules of engagement,” General Singh said. The Indian army chief also claimed that no operation at LoC was done by the Indian Army on January 6. “We want to keep the dialogue process on and also explore the best ways to communicate with Pakistan, but the attacks must stop,” Singh added. He said the Indian Army will fully back the actions of commanders at the Line of Control.

Singh’s remarks which came hours before local commanders met at a crossing point on the ceasefire line for the first time since the fighting erupted to try and reduce tensions. Rejecting the allegations of unprovoked attack, Pakistan Army Monday said it strongly protested with the Indian authorities over the continuous ceasefire violations. Hours after Pakistan army commanders met their Indian counterparts, neighbouring country’s troops once again opened unprovoked firing at Battal Sector at LoC near Rawlakot injuring a man. Media reports said the Indian army opened unprovoked firing at Battal Sector but when the Pakistan Rangers returned fire, the Indian guns got silenced. The injured was admitted to hospital for medical treatment.

Former Reporter Amber Lyon Exposes Massive Censorship at CNN

Print Friendly and PDF

I saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldn’t believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.(Amber Lyon)

The Amber Lyon story is just the latest in a series of articles that expose the total Joseph Goebbels like censorship rampant in mainstream media today.  The first one I posted several weeks ago exposed how the NY Times basically just regurgitates whatever government officials tell them, while the other showcased how an NPR reporter covering D.C. had to leave and do her own thing out of frustration.  This is precisely why alternative media sites are taking off.  They provide the only outlets left for genuine journalism.

So back to Amber.  Back in March 2011, CNN sent a four person team to Bahrain to cover the Arab Spring.  Once there, the crew was the subject of extreme intimidation amongst other things, but they were able to record some fantastic footage.  As Glenn Greenwald of the UK’s Guardian writes in his blockbuster article from today:

In the segment, Lyon interviewed activists as they explicitly described their torture at the hands of government forces, while family members recounted their relatives’ abrupt disappearances. She spoke with government officials justifying the imprisonment of activists. And the segment featured harrowing video footage of regime forces shooting unarmed demonstrators, along with the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. In sum, the early 2011 CNN segment on Bahrain presented one of the starkest reports to date of the brutal repression embraced by the US-backed regime.

Despite these accolades, and despite the dangers their own journalists and their sources endured to produce it, CNN International (CNNi) never broadcast the documentary. Even in the face of numerous inquiries and complaints from their own employees inside CNN, it continued to refuse to broadcast the program or even provide any explanation for the decision. To date, this documentary has never aired on CNNi.

Having just returned from Bahrain, Lyon says she “saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldn’t believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.”

After Lyon’s crew returned from Bahrain, CNN had no correspondents regularly reporting on the escalating violence. In emails to her producers and executives, Lyon repeatedly asked to return to Bahrain. Her requests were denied, and she was never sent back. She thus resorted to improvising coverage by interviewing activists via Skype in an attempt, she said, “to keep Bahrain in the news”.

In March 2012, Lyon was laid off from CNN as part of an unrelated move by the network to outsource its investigative documentaries.

“At this point,” Lyon said, “I look at those payments as dirty money to stay silent. I got into journalism to expose, not help conceal, wrongdoing, and I’m not willing to keep quiet about this any longer, even if it means I’ll lose those payments.”

Amber Lyon, I salute you.

Please forward this post to everyone you know.  I for one want to live in a country with some real and free press. Not some CIA propaganda arm that pretends to be a reliable source of news.

An open letter to Ejaz Haider (Express Tribune's 5th columnist)

Print Friendly and PDF

Read on Pakistan Cyber Force Facebook Page

Dear Ejaz Haider (fifth columnist of the Express Tribune):

Ejaz Haider, the 5th columnist traitor
of the Express Tribune
Your open letter to General Shuja Pasha seems nothing to me but a pile of trash with no evidences, facts or logic in the remotest sense. Could you tell the nation on what basis  were you able to pin-point the ISI for this murder even after decisive rejection from ISI's officials? Do you have a finger prints or any other concrete evidence that shows involvement of ISI in this murder? Or is it, just like always, sheer speculation and fancy fiction? And where were you when U235 was obtained from Raymond Davis? I didn't read a single report on your news outlet covering that severe attack on Pakistan's nuclear assets. Seems like your press has forgotten a long time ago, the responsibility it owes to this land, and just stays loyal to your masters (as your press is a joint venture of NY times and the International Herald Tribune) you have even forgotten the etiquette and manners to contribute in a responsible press; You don't have to be so obnoxious and continue with your pathetic rhetoric.

First I would like to ask you to provide even a SINGLE evidence about ISI's involvement in the Journalist Saleem Shehzad's murder. It's a shame that how a learned & a well-informed man like you allegedly accuse the defense institution without even a SINGLE evidence!? The very first fundamental to prove your claim is always to provide a proof. If you don't have sufficient proofs to support your claim and only quote the 5th columnist media; it simply shows the shallowness of your claim and the shallowness of the purpose to write an open letter to Gen. Pasha. Seems like you simply over look the fact that USZ has currently invested 150 million dollars in the Pakistan media and your letters are only to please your masters.

"And what has the agency you head done so far?" once again shows your hollow knowledge because you live in a fool's paradise where all you have to do is to please your masters. ISI apprehended the uranium from Davis (despite severe pressure) which in other case, would have caused serious damage to Pakistan and helped TTP proxies to carry out another false flag drama eventually helping the de-nuclearization of Pakistan. This was a very minute instance that what ISI has done so far just within a month. What have your press done so far except demoralizing the nation by propagating deception, spreading obscenity and indecency in the youth, maligning the armed forces  to please your masters?

It's hilarious how you are moaning "accountability" of the armed forces at this critical hour when the country is on the verge of a physical foreign invasion and there is no one except the armed forces to safeguard the borders. Why not call for the accountability of your own corporate 5th columnist press? More or less, there lies serious responsibilities on your shoulders too to defend this land on the international media but seems like you are not a representative of Pakistan. If you so well understand the theoretical and practical dimensions of statecraft better and more deeply than the entire ISI, yet you're wasting your energies in writing nonsensical piece for the 5th columnist, why don't you do something real productive for your country other than big claims?

Let me make it clear, all what is being said about our armed institutions including the ISI is NOT a result of heat-oppressed civilian brain BUT the psy-ops being carried by the foreign funded fifth columnist media! I would like to end up saying that please stop misguiding the nation, the nation is already in enough distress and knows you and your agenda very well.

Saleem Shehzad's colleagues maligning ISI: Who is the beneficiary? - Detailed Analysis

Print Friendly and PDF

Most of Mr. Saleem Shehzad's colleagues have been targeting ISI which forces every patriot, who has links in the armed forces, rethink who was Saleem Shehzad and who was he serving? Ever since day 1, Mr. Saleem Shehzad's colleague at Asia Dispatch website Ms. Carol Anne Grayson has continued her rhetoric of "blame the ISI whether you have proofs or not", quoting articles from the Zionist propaganda machines like Express Tribune, BBC, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, New York Times, The Hindustan Times, Geo TV News Updates and several other 5th column anti-Pakistan media outlets. Solid evidence at-hand clearly shows that Mr. Saleem Shehzad and his international colleagues were involved in high level espionage and yellow journalism against the state of Pakistan, (See Facebook version). However, as some groups and governments use Syed Saleem Shahzad’s death to jack up pressure on the ISI, murder of prominent journalist has left a genuine question: who killed him and why? Statements coming from overseas and from Shahzad’s close friends blame Pakistani intelligence agency but some people have a second opinion: a third hand played the trick to pressurize the ISI and Pakistani government.

Syed Saleem Shehzad (left) & Carol Anne Grayson (right)
Saleem Shahzad’s links were well known to the world and he used to confide in his international friends whatever pressure he faced but it never included a direct threat to life, officials familiar with the issue said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Those who knew Saleem Shahzad say he began a hide and seek game with the security agencies more than a decade earlier when a scandal on Agosta submarine deal and death of French engineers in Karachi surfaced. Shahzad, then living in Karachi, was arrested on allegations that he was handing over a secret Agosta file to undercover French agent Mr. Philips. He moved to Islamabad after being set free. Saleem Shahazad often visited USZ embassy in Islamabad and maintained regular contacts with banned CIA war proxy of Tehrik-e- Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Friends say his profession required these two way links as he filed reports on Taliban.

However, security officials believe Shahzad would not hesitate to translate his wishes into news story - a fact evident in his articles declaring Ilyas Kashmiri as next Al-CIA-Da leader. And ironically enough, just a short while afterwards, Ilyas Kashmiri was "killed" in USZ drone strike showing to the world that butchering women and children with chemical bombs is indeed "fruitful". Shahzad maintained that his close contacts with Kashmiri had enabled him to file inside report. Some sources claim Kashmiri had influenced him into writing some pieces, which proved beyond the facts and annoyed TTP. TTP had conveyed their displeasure to Shahzad, they said. “The ISI is concerned on the assassination of Shahazad and would not leave any stone unturned to find the culprits”, a responsible source in the intelligence agency said.

The source strongly condemned the reports that Shahzad was threatened by the ISI. He was invited to the ISI headquarters for discussion and offered a correct version of information as some of his reporting on Pakistan was not consistent with the facts, the source said. Asked Whether Shahzad was threatened by the ISI’s media wing, the source said agency’s department on media was limited to providing information. “And you don’t invite somebody to your home only to threaten him”, it reacted. Other sources say although ISI never threatened Saleem Shahzad, it did try to persuade the journalist on some issues and he discussed it in a meeting with his local and international friends, hardening impression that Shahzad and ISI were at odds. The belief, they claim, appeared advantageous to anti-Pakistani groups, who planned and killed Shahzad to intensify pressure on the ISI.

Even before the murder Pakistani intelligence faced heavy criticism both from outside and inside the country and under prevailing circumstance it could not commit such a huge mistake of killing someone with international standing , a source in the national security apparatus told journalists. It said Saleem Shahzad’s murder and the way body was dumped showed that “third hand” was involved. It is not hard to guess who the third hand is, but thorough investigation is necessary before naming anyone, the source added. A very close friend of Saleem Shahzad said his murder was just a tragedy. He would not speak more. Shahzad’s wife was contacted through a friend of her husband. She said Shahzad left home on the evening of May 29 and never returned although an anonymous phone caller did say he would, by the next evening. The widow said she did not know who kidnapped Shahzad.

Some people close to the diplomatic circles in Islamabad say the reporter had close contacts with the Americans and would sometime cross their “redline”. “Saleem Shahzad was killed in a CIA battle”, they said. In Islamabad other people, who work for western media and have links with the USZ embassy in Islamabad, are also concerned. They are planning to leave the country. Shahzad too wanted to immigrate to Iran, a newspaper report has claimed.
