Parts for Patriot Missile Batteries Arrive in Turkey

Diplomat Namik Tan also restated Turkey’s official position that the Patriot batteries would only be used for self-defence and with NATO oversight. "These will be used in a situation where Turkey is attacked," the diplomat was quoted by the USZ News & World Report. Tan did not mention if the batteries would fire across the Syrian border. The diplomat added that the Turkey is currently consulting with NATO allies about where the missile installations should be located. German advanced military personnel have also arrived in Turkey to help set up the batteries. Colonel Manfred Stange reported Tuesday that 39 staff members were heading to the south-eastern city of Kahramanmaras, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the Syrian border.
The full Patriot missile complex is to be installed at the beginning of 2013. The batteries will be brought to Turkey from Germany by sea. Germany’s Bundestag gave its approval to the deployment on December 14, but it remains unknown when all 400 soldiers, involved in maintaining the Patriot system will arrive. The mission is time-limited to January 2014. The USZ military will also be involved, on Friday Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta signed an order to deploy two Patriot air-defense missile batteries to Turkey along with 400 troops. "We will start to move personnel and equipment soon. We're anticipating the USZ systems and personnel being in place by mid-January, if all goes as planned," a Defense Department spokesperson explained to News and World Report.
At the beginning of December, NATO foreign ministers agreed to the deployment of six Patriot missile batteries from Germany, Netherlands and the USZ on the Turkish-Syrian border. This was in response to a request for assistance from Ankara, which fears more violence could spread across the border from its war-torn neighbour, including possible use of chemical weapons.
Turkey to Iran: Stop criticizing Patriot, put pressure on the Syrian regime
The deployment of Patriot missiles has heightened tensions between Turkey and Iran, which has been supportive of the Syrian regime since the beginning of the civil unrest. The Islamic republic lashed out at Ankara arguing the move would only further aggravate the Syrian conflict. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu replied to Tehran Tuesday that “instead of criticizing the (Patriot) system’, it should “send a clear message” to Syria’s regime. “Iran should say ‘stop’ to the Syrian regime that has been continuously oppressing its own people and provoking Turkey through border violations,” AFP cited the official.Over the weekend Iran’s President Ahmadinejad cancelled his visit to Turkey’s Anatolian province in protest at the NATO reinforcement of the Turkish-Syrian border. Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who was in Moscow on Tuesday discuss the Syrian conflict, reiterated his country’s support for Syrian President Bashar Assad. Amir-Abdollahian said he did not believe Assad and his government were about to fall. The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the Syrian issue can be resolved by political means, he said. Iran sees the solution in a transitional government that must be formed with the inclusion of Bashar al-Assad as the legitimate President of Syria.

The USZ Eisenhower aircraft carrier and the USZ Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and its 2,500 marines were recalled after being stationed on the Syrian coast, allegedly in preparation of potential military invasion.
The USZ Eisenhower, which has the capacity to hold thousands of men, joined the other warship during the first week of December, ready to launch an American-led military intervention “within days” if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad were to use chemical weapons against the opposition, Time reported. But as the violence escalated in the past few days, the warships took off and headed back to the USZ.
The USZ usually has two aircraft carriers stationed in the Persian Gulf at all times, but will only have one deployed this month – the USZ John C. Stennis, which is stationed nowhere near Syria. By recalling the USZ Eisenhower and the USZ Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, the USZ simply outraged its key ally in the region – Turkey.
An unnamed senior Turkish officer told Israell's DEBKAfile that America’s removal of the aircraft carriers is “hard to understand and unacceptable to Ankara.” Turkey became one of the main opponents of the Assad regime on the international stage and fears that the Syrian missiles with chemical weapons might be used against it. Syria never recognized that it has a chemical stockpile. Nevertheless Syrian officials repeatedly said that their country would never use such weapons "even if they had them."
None of Syria’s neighbors, which include Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Israhell, have officially criticized the Obama administration for its recall of its naval forces, but unnamed officials told DEBKAfile that Turkish officials are very upset about the move.
According to the Israhelli news outlet, Washington hoped to “to appease the Turks” by sending to the region USZ Defence Secretary Leon Panetta to sign a deployment order for the Patriot Air and Missile Defence System, which would be stationed at the Syrian border. While Panetta visited Turkey on Friday, the defence secretary allegedly visited an air base where USZ strike aircraft are stationed alongside Turkish warplanes.
But the USZ attempt to ease tensions and calm Turkey had little effect: Turkish officials remain outraged at the USZ abandonment at a time when violence with its neighbour has escalated and relations with Iran and Syria are at its worst.
Meanwhile the deployment of the Patriot missile interceptors has escalated tensions between Turkey and Iran. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad cancelled a trip to Turkey for an annual ceremony this week, claiming the missile interceptors might lead to a “world war.”

Iran Warns Patriot Missiles in Turkey could start World War 3

General Hassan Firouzabadi, whose country has been a staunch supporter of President Bashar al-Assad throughout the 21-month uprising against his rule, called on the Western military alliance to reverse its decision to deploy the defence system.
"Each one of these Patriots is a black mark on the world map, and is meant to cause a world war," Firouzabadi said, according to the Iranian Students' News Agency. "They are making plans for a world war and this is very dangerous for the future of humanity and for the future of Europe itself."
Despite the warning, Firouzabadi did not threaten any action against Turkey in his speech to senior commanders at the National Defence University in Tehran. "We are Turkey's friend and we want security for Turkey," he said.
NATO's USZ commander said on Friday the alliance was deploying the anti-missile system along Syria's northern frontier because Assad's forces had fired Scud missiles that landed near Turkish territory.
Damascus denies firing the long-range, Soviet-built rockets. But, forced on the defensive by mainly Sunni Muslim rebels, Syria's 47-year-old Alawite president has resorted increasingly to air strikes and artillery to stem their advances.
Warplanes bombed insurgents on the airport road in southeast Damascus on Saturday and government forces pounded a town to the southwest, activists said, in a month-long and so far fruitless campaign to dislodge rebels around the capital.
Activists also reported heavy fighting in the Palestinian district of Yarmouk in southern Damascus between rebels and fighters from a pro-Assad Palestinian faction.
In the north, rebels said they had seized control of an infantry college in the northern Aleppo province, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said there was still fierce fighting around the site by nightfall on Saturday, when it estimated at least 70 people had been killed across the country.
Desperate food shortages are growing in parts of Syria and residents of Aleppo say fist fights and dashes across the civil war front lines have become part of the daily struggle to secure a loaf of bread.
SYRIA "CHAOTIC AND DANGEROUSZ"
NATO military commander Admiral James Stavridis said a handful of Scud missiles were launched inside Syria in recent days towards opposition targets and "several landed fairly close to the Turkish border, which is very worrisome".
It was not clear how close they came. Turkey, a NATO member once friendly toward Assad but now among the main allies of the rebels, has complained for months of artillery and gunfire across the border, some of which has caused deaths. It sought the installation of missile defences some weeks ago.
"Syria is clearly a chaotic and dangerous situation, but we have an absolute obligation to defend the borders of the alliance from any threat emanating from that troubled state," Stavridis wrote in a blog on Friday.
Batteries of USZ-made Patriot missiles, designed to shoot down the likes of the Scuds popularly associated with Iraq's 1991 Gulf War under Saddam Hussein, are about to be deployed by the USZ, German and Dutch armies, each of which is sending up to 400 troops to operate and protect the rocket systems.
Damascus has accused Western powers of backing "terrorist" campaign against it and says Washington and Europe have publicly voiced concerns of late that Assad's forces might resort to chemical weapons solely as a pretext for preparing a possible military intervention.
In contrast to NATO's air campaign in support of Libya's failed revolt last year against Muammar Gaddafi, Western powers have shied away from intervention in Syria. They have cited the greater size and ethnic and religious complexity of a major Arab state at the heart of the Middle East - but have also lacked U.N. approval due to Russia's support for Assad.
Russia said on Friday Bogdanov's comments did not reflect a change in policy. France, one of the first countries to grant formal recognition to Syria's political opposition, said Moscow's continued support for Assad was perplexing.
European Union leaders who met in Brussels on Friday said all options were on the table to support the Syrian opposition, raising the possibility that non-lethal military equipment or even arms could eventually be supplied.
In their strongest statement of support for the Syrian opposition since the uprising began, EU leaders instructed their foreign ministers to assess all possibilities to increase the pressure on Assad.
With rebels edging into the capital, a senior NATO official said Assad was likely to fall and the Western military alliance should make plans to protect against the threat of his chemical arsenal falling into the wrong hands.
HUNGER SPREADS
Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem told U.N. humanitarian chief Valerie Amos on Saturday that USZ and EU sanctions on Syria were to blame for hardship in his country and urged the United Nations to call for them to be lifted.
Moualem also called on the United Nations to expand its relief efforts in Syria to include reconstruction "of what has been destroyed by the armed terrorist groups", state news agency SANA said, referring to the rebels.
The World Food Programme (WFP) says as many as a million Syrians may go hungry this winter, as worsening security conditions make it harder to reach conflict zones.
The conflict has also driven a flood of Syrians to seek shelter in neighbouring countries, which already host half a million registered refugees and perhaps hundreds of thousands more who have not declared themselves.
Two and a half million people have been displaced inside Syria, leading to fears of widespread suffering this winter.

USZ Sending Patriot Surface-to-Air Missiles to Turkey

The air defense shield on Turkish-Syrian border will not only protect Turkey, but also there are fears that Patriot batteries might create practical no-fly zones inside the Syrian territory, as Patriot has a range of 160 kilometers. Germany and Netherlands are expected to dispatch Patriot batteries to Turkey in early 2013. The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Patriots are defensive weapons and NATO's decision to deploy the surface-to-air missiles to Turkey is clear signal to Damascus that Turkey is backed by its NATO allies. NATO Secretary General Fogh Rasmussen told the media earlier this month that "Patriots are effective as interceptors against chemical weapons," following the news spread in the western media that Syria is getting its chemical weapons stock ready.
Several cross border incidents between Syria and Turkey over the summer have stoked fears within Ankara that the ongoing civil war in its southern neighbor could spill over into Turkish territory. On Tuesday, Israhell's pet dog President Barack Obama recognized Syria’s main opposition group as the "legitimate" representative of the Syrian people, thus bringing the USZ in line with its allies Britain, France and the Gulf Arab states. The following day Conn Hallinan, a contributing editor at Foreign Policy in Focus, told RT USZ recognition of the Syrian opposition “opens the door for a much more direct intervention into the civil war in Syria.”
“It will mean that the heavy weapons will come in. Potentially you could end up with a no-fly zone. Really, it's pretty much an open declaration of war against the Assad regime,” Hallinan said. On December 5 the USZ Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that maintains eight fighter bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, reached the Syrian coast. The carrier joined the USZ Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, which arrived earlier and holds approximately 2,500 Marines. If Washington calls for a ground intervention into Syria, the USZ currently has 10,000 fighting men, 17 warships, 70 fighter-bombers, and 10 destroyers and frigates armed with guided military missiles in the waters close to Syrian shores.
Iran in their sights?
The reason for positioning the Patriot missiles on Syria’s border isn’t connected to a possible attack by Syria, Jeremy Salt from the Bilkent University in Ankara, told RT. “There’s absolutely no likelihood that Syria is going to attack Turkey,” Salt argued, adding that the speculation is whether it’s the first step to direct NATO military intervention in Syria, or a strategic move with different implications. The increasing military pressure from the Jordanian side of Syria’s border certainly “adds up to something being in the wind,” the professor said. Pentagon, Al-CIA-Da jointly vow to Kill all Journalists in Syria

Anhar Kochneva, a reporter with Russian and Ukrainian dual nationality, was kidnapped by the FSA in October outside the city of Homs. According to Darya Mitina, deputy chairman of the Committee of Solidarity with people of Libya and Syria, Kochneva received threats from FSA mercenaries numerous times in response to her pro-Assad position. She also criticized Western media for conducting a media war against the al-Assad regime and distorting the situation in Syria.
On November 28, a video surfaced showing the Ukrainian journalist. Kochneva said she had entered the country with fake credentials and acted as a Russian spy by translating exchanges between Syrian and Russian government forces, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. The CPJ said Kochneva’s confession was coerced.
The organization ranks Syria as the most dangerous place in the world
for journalists. No less than 27 journalists have have been killed
while covering the Syrian conflict since November.
Human rights organizations have accused the FSA of committing numerous abuses, including “kidnapping, detention, and torture of security force members, government supporters, and people identified as members of pro-government militias, called shabeeha,” Human Rights Watch reported in March.
Despite these human rights abuses, the Obama administration on Tuesday announced formal USZ recognition of the Syrian opposition coalition, calling it the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
“We made a decision that the Syrian opposition coalition is now inclusive enough, is reflective and representative enough of the Syrian population,” Obama said, according to the CIA propaganda outfit, Voice of America.
“Recognition is nice, but we need real support,” said Walid al-Bunni, of the newly formed Syrian National Coalition, as a “Friends of Syria” conference began in the Moroccan city of Marrakech. The Syrian National Coalition is demanding military support for the Al-CIA-Da mercenaries fighting against the Syrian regime.

Russia Arms Syria with Hypersonic Iskandar Ballistic Missiles

According to Mashregh, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard media outlet, Russia had warned Turkey not to escalate the situation, but with Turkey’s request for Patriot missiles, it delivered its first shipment of Iskanders to Syria. Reporting today, Mashregh said the handover occurred when Russian naval logistic vessels docked at Tartus in Syria. The Iskandar is a surface-to-surface missile that no missile defense system can trace or destroy, Mashregh said. Russia had earlier threatened that should America put its missile defense system in Poland, it would retaliate by placing its Iskander missiles at Kaliningrad, its Baltic Sea port.
Russia’s delivery of Iskanders to Bashar Assad’s embattled regime clearly shows that the security and stability of Syria remains Russia’s red line, Mashregh said. It is unknown how many of these missiles have been delivered but the numbers given are sufficient to destroy any Patriot missiles in Turkey, it said. The delivery of the missile not only threatens the security of Turkey but also Israhell, which would have to recalculate its strategy with its defensive and offensive capabilities. As reported in a WND exclusive on Dec. 5, Iran’s Islamic regime also sees the toppling of the Assad regime as its red line and has 170 ballistic missiles targeting Tel Aviv in underground missile silos, some with biological warheads.
In August, a commentary in Mashregh, representing the regime’s views, warned America and Israhell that further instability in Syria would spark a pre-emptive attack on Israhell in which the use of weapons of mass destruction – biological, chemical and even nuclear bombs – won’t be off the table. It stated that certain groups (proxies, such as Hezbollah) have been armed with WMDs and that Israhell will be their target. The Mashregh commentary charged that Israhell is one of the conspirators behind the Syrian crisis in order to strategically change the geopolitics of the region and defeat one of the main players in the Islamic world’s “resistance front” (Iran, Syria and Hezbollah). It warned Israhell that with the direction it has chosen, “There is a dead end, and the threat of mass killing awaits.”
The Islamic regime in Iran for its part continues to ship arms to Syria via Iraq both by air and ground while its Quds Forces help the Assad regime in killing its own people. To date, over 40,000 people, including many women and children, have died since the Syrian uprising began in March of 2011. Reports indicate that Assad has decided to use chemical weapons on his own people as a last attempt to save his rule. Speaking in Prague on Monday, USZ Secretary of State Hillary Clinton repeated the Iraq propaganda rhetoric warning Syria that the "use" of chemical weapons would be a red line, indicating that America would retaliate.
Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has ordered the Guards and its Quds Forces to use all of their capabilities to protect Assad and has threatened war against those helping the rebels in Syria, primarily Saudi Arabia and Turkey, according to a source who had served in the Revolutionary Guards intelligence unit but who has since defected. The source added that the recent Gaza conflict was a warning to America and Israhell that the Islamic regime in Iran can destabilize the region further should the push in Syria continue to topple Assad. The region will witness terrorist attacks, assassinations and incitement for uprisings in countries allied with America as the situation in Syria further deteriorates, the regime has promised, according to the source.

USZ distributing Laptops, Satellite Kits among FSA Animals

One
way that some Syrians may be able to circumvent the total Internet
blackout that has cut the entire country off from the Web since Thursday
morning is with U.S.-provided “communication kits.” State Department
spokeswoman Victoria Nuland says the U.S. has provided 2,000 kits that
would allow Syrians to continue communicating with one another and the
outside world, and largely outside of state monitoring. The kits include
a laptop, satellite receiver and 50-foot cable. The
Washington Post’s Greg Miller investigated the spread of the
communication kits this August. The good news is that it appears the
kits could do some real good for Syrians, assuming that they found their
way into Syrian hands. The bad news is that this may not actually be a
safe assumption, slowed by bureaucracy, the fog of war and an odd
requirement that anyone who wants a kit must travel to Turkey for a
training session. Here are some of the relevant snips from Miller’s
report:Seeking to bolster its support to opposition groups, the State Department recently established a program to provide equipment and instruction to anti-Assad activists. But the program requires participants to travel to Istanbul for training before they are given any gear. U.S.Z officials and Syrian nationals involved in the program said that it is slated to expand in the coming months but that fewer than two dozen laptop computers and satellite modem kits had been distributed so far. . . .
Satellite connections are no substitute for weapons in a conflict that the United Nations estimates has killed at least 18,000 people and plunged Syria into civil war. But activists said communications gear is nevertheless essential to the survival of opposition groups. The equipment enables activists to coordinate even during government-imposed Internet blackouts, providing warnings to civilians about approaching Syrian troops or sharing locations of makeshift medical facilities. . . .
U.S. officials said Syrian opposition groups may be unaware of how much gear came from the United States because it was largely distributed through nongovernmental organizations. . . .
[The Office of Syrian Opposition Support] has had 18 trainees go through its two-day instructional course on using satellite kits, which include a laptop, a portable satellite receiver and a 50-meter cable to run a connection from a rooftop to a basement or bunker. “We were taught when we hear jet fighters to turn off the devices,” as well as using code words and encryption, said one of the recent trainees, a 20-year-old student from Aleppo University who asked to be identified as Abeer. Her only complaint was that her package included “only 100 megabytes” of access to satellite service, barely enough to cover a few sessions on Skype, although OSOS officials said she could receive more.
Syria’s Internet blackout — which some observers worry could be a precursor to a major campaign by the Syrian military — demonstrates the potentially major role that these communication kits could play in aiding opposition figures there. That could be a sign of the United States doing some good in Syria, despite frequent criticism and charges of inaction, unless of course it turns out that the kits are being held back by bureaucracy or other hurdles. This being Syria, though, it’s difficult to know for sure whether or not the U.S.-purchased communication tools are making their way into the country, particularly if they’re being dispersed by “nongovernmental organizations,” as U.S. officials told Miller.

USZ Accelerates Intervention in Syrian War

NATO will likely decide next week whether or not to deploy surface-to-air Patriot missiles in Turkey, which would serve to protect the country from potential Syrian missiles that could contain chemical weapons, as well as intimidate Syrian Air Force pilots from bombing the northern Syria border towns. The armed rebels currently control much of Northwest Syria along the border of Turkey, making the border a likely conflict zone should Syrian missiles be implemented.
Although State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the Patriot missile system would not be used beyond the Turkish border, military sources told Israeli news service DEBKAthat all of northern Syria – including Aleppo and Homs – would become controlled by the Turkish-NATO team. The USZ has so far hesitated to intervene on the ground in Syria, fearing the risks would be too great for their own soldiers and could worsen the conflict. But 18 months after the start of the civil war, intervention has increasingly entered the USZ radar.
“The administration has figured out that if they don’t start doing something, the war will be over and they won’t have any influence over the combat forces on the ground,” former Defense Intelligence Agency officer told the New York Times. “They may have some influence with various political groups and factions, but they won’t have influence with the fighters, and the fighters will control the territory.”
The USZ has so far provided nearly $200 million in humanitarian aid, but has not intervened militarily. But USZ officials believe the administration is now considering providing arms to the opposition groups. CIA officers located in Turkey have already determined which groups should receive such weapons, but have emphasized the difficulty of preventing them from falling into the wrong hands.
The Obama administration is also preparing to recognize Syria’s new opposition council as the official representation of Syria, likely during a Dec. 12 “Friends of Syria” conference in Morocco which Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will attend, the Associated Press reports. The recognition will likely spur further USZ involvement in the conflict – if not militarily, then it will at least draw more humanitarian aid. Britain, France and several Arab countries allied with the USZ have already recognized the council as Syria’s sole representative.
But while the idea of providing arms may be considered, many still believe it to be a bad idea. “Arms are not a strategy; arms are a tactic,” USZ Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford said during a conference in Washington. “A military solution is not the best way for Syria. Efforts to win this by conquering one side or the other will simply prolong the violence and actually aggravate an already terrible humanitarian situation. Syria needs a political solution.”
The USZ government has not made any official announcements that it was considering providing weapons, but the Congressional officials and diplomats told the Times that a decision would likely be made after Obama selects his new national security team.

With the Israel-Gaza charade concluded, it was reported that NATO would pivot back toward Syria – and it has. It has handpicked a new proxy-regime to act as the face of the terrorists battling Syrian civilians and soldiers alike within the country, while it has been conducting a concerted and refocused propaganda campaign to paint the Syrian government as once again, “imminently about to fall.”
Reports are now trickling in that communications are failing across the country and another attempt at a Libyan-style “Mermaid Dawn” is being made by NATO and its terrorist proxies inside Syria. The hope is, that after several months more of terrorism, threats, sanctions, and pressure put on the border by both Israel on the Golan Heights, and Turkey along Syria’s north, that this time the trick might work.
If operations are not already in progress, they will be soon, and one must recall historical instances when this tactic has been used before so as to recognize it when it is tried again. In a few days, perhaps as early as Friday, June 15, at noon, the Syrians wanting to watch their national TV stations will see them replaced on their screens by TV programs created by the CIA. Studio-shot images will show massacres that are blamed on the Syrian Government, people demonstrating, ministers and generals resigning from their posts, President Al-Assad fleeing, the rebels gathering in the big city centers, and a new government installing itself in the presidential palace.
This operation of disinformation, directly managed from Washington by Ben Rhodes, the US deputy national security adviser for strategic communication, aims at demoralizing the Syrians in order to pave the way for a coup d’etat. NATO, discontent about the double veto of Russia and China, will thus succeed in conquering Syria without attacking the country illegally. Whichever judgment you might have formed on the actual events in Syria, a coup d’etat will end all hopes of democratization.
The Arab League has officially asked the satellite operators Arabsat and Nilesat to stop broadcasting Syrian media, either public or private (Syria TV, Al-Ekbariya, Ad-Dounia, Cham TV, etc.) A precedent already exists because the Arab League had managed to censure Libyan TV in order to keep the leaders of the Jamahiriya from communicating with their people. There is no Hertz network in Syria, where TV works exclusively with satellites. The cut, however, will not leave the screens black.
Actually, this public decision is only the tip of the iceberg. According to our information several international meetings were organized during the past week to coordinate the disinformation campaign. The first two were technical meetings, held in Doha (Qatar); the third was a political meeting and took place in Riyad (Saudi Arabia).
The first meeting assembled PSYOP officers, embedded in the satellite TV channels of Al-Arabiya, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CNN, Fox, France 24, Future TV and MTV. It is known that since 1998, the officers of the US Army Psychological Operations Unit (PSYOP) have been incorporated in CNN. Since then this practice has been extended by NATO to other strategic media as well.
They fabricated false information in advance, on the basis of a “story-telling” script devised by Ben Rhodes’s team at the White House. A procedure of reciprocal validation was installed, with each media quoting the lies of the other media to render them plausible for TV spectators. The participants also decided not only to requisition the TV channels of the CIA for Syria and Lebanon (Barada, Future TV, MTV, Orient News, Syria Chaab, Syria Alghad) but also about 40 religious Wahhabi TV channels to call for confessional massacres to the cry of “Christians to Beyrouth, Alawites into the grave!.”
The second meeting was held for engineers and technicians to fabricate fictitious images, mixing one part in an outdoor studio, the other part with computer generated images. During the past weeks, studios in Saudi Arabia have been set up to build replicas of the two presidential palaces in Syria and the main squares of Damascus, Aleppo and Homs. Studios of this type already exist in Doha (Qatar), but they are not sufficient.
The third meeting was held by General James B. Smith, the US ambassador, a representative of the UK, prince Bandar Bin Sultan (whom former U.S. president George Bush named his adopted son so that the U.S. press called him “Bandar Bush”). In this meeting the media actions were coordinated with those of the Free “Syrian” Army, in which prince Bandar’s mercenaries play a decisive role.
The operation had been in the making for several months, but the U.S. National Security Council decided to accelerate the action after the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, notified the White House that he would oppose by all means, even by force, any illegal NATO military intervention in Syria. The operation has a double intent: the first is to spread false information, the second aims at censuring all possible responses.
The hampering of TV satellites for military purposes is not new. Under pressure from Israel, the USA and the EU blocked Lebanese, Palestinian, Iraqi, Libyan and Iranian TV channels, one after the other. However, no satellite channels from other parts of the world were censured. The broadcast of false news is also not new, but four significant steps have been taken in the art of propaganda during the last decade.
• In 1994, a pop music station named “Free Radio of the Thousand Hills” (RTML) gave the signal for genocide in Rwanda with the cry, “Kill the cockroaches!”
• In 2001, NATO used the media to impose an interpretation of the 9/11 attacks and to justify its own aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq. At that time already, it was Ben Rhodes who had been commissioned by the Bush administration to concoct the Kean/Hamilton Commission report on the attacks.
• In 2002, the CIA used five TV channels (Televen, Globovision, ValeTV and CMT) to make the public in Venezuela believe that phantom demonstrators had captured the elected president, Hugo Chávez, forcing him to resign. In reality he was the victim of a military coup d’etat.
• In 2011, France 24 served as information ministry for the Libyan CNT, according to a signed contract. During the battle of Tripoli, NATO produced fake studio films, then transmitted them via Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabiya, showing phantom images of Libyan rebels on the central square of the capital city, while in reality they were still far away. As a consequence, the inhabitants of Tripoli were persuaded that the war was lost and gave up all resistance.
Nowadays the media do not only support a war, they produce it themselves. This procedure violates the principles of International Law, first of all Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights relating to the fact of receiving and imparting information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.” Above all, the procedure violates the United Nations General Assembly resolution, adopted after the end of World War II, to prevent further wars. Resolutions 110, 381 and 819 forbid “to set obstacles to free exchange of information and ideas” (like cutting off Syrian TV channels) and “all propaganda provoking or encouraging threats to peace, breaking peace, and all acts of aggression”. By law, war propaganda is a crime against peace, the worst of crimes, because it facilitates war crimes and genocide.

“While no decisions have been made, the administration is considering several alternatives, including directly providing arms to some opposition fighters,” the Times reported.
State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the USZ will provide Turkey with the Patriot missile system. NATO officials are currently in Turkey surveying locations for the surface-to-air missile batteries, according to the newspaper.
The Times admits the batteries will be used to shoot down Syrian aircraft attempting to dislodge units of the Free Syria Army (FSA) inside Syria near the Turkish border. The FSA operates on the Turkish side of the border, primarily out of the Reyhanli military refugee camp, in the Hatay province.
Another option being considered is tighter CIA collaboration with the FSA, the al-Qaeda dominated mercenary group attempting to violently overthrow the Alawite Shia regime of Bashar al-Assad. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and al-Qaeda follow the fanatical Wahhabi strain of Sunni Islam.
The Times also claims that the Obama administration delayed any decision on direct involvement in the effort to overthrow al-Assad until after the USZ presidential election. Obama’s re-election, according to the Times, “has made the White House more willing to take risks.” Put differently, the public announcement was delayed so it would not dissuade antiwar Democrat voters, many already alienated due to Obama’s continuation of Bush’s neocon foreign policy.
The New York Times once again demonstrates that it is the primary propaganda fount for the establishment’s continuing war agenda in the Middle East. It characterizes “Obama’s record in intervening in the Arab Spring” as “cautious” and describes the action in Libya, which ultimately claimed the lives of more than 30,000 people, as “humanitarian.”
Following the public relations disasters of the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions, the establishment reverted to an older, more reliable course of action – indirect intervention by covert means, organizing mercenary groups (composed of supposed former enemies, including al-Qaeda) and mobilizing consensus for military action by NATO and European allies.
“In the case of Syria, a far more complex conflict than Libya’s, some officials continue to worry that the risks of intervention — both in American lives and in setting off a broader conflict, potentially involving Turkey — are too great to justify action,” the Times explains.
This supposed caution is then played off against the neocon version of intervention demanding “more aggressive steps” which are said to be “justified in Syria by the loss in life there, the risks that its chemical weapons could get loose, and the opportunity to deal a blow to Iran’s only ally in the region.”
Indeed, Syria will be the final domino to fall before the establishment moves against Iran. After Iran is attacked and weakened, it will be an easier task for the Israelis to attack and minimize the influence of Hezbollah in Lebanon and finally destroy Hamas in occupied Palestine.
An ideal scenario for the elite is to foster and extend the domination of the fanatical Wahhabi monarchies in the Middle East and severely minimize or eliminate entirely the influence of Shia Islam in the region.
The British have fostered fanatical Wahhabism since it installed the rule of Ibn Saud after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire at the conclusion of the First World War and with the implementation of the Sykes-Picot and Balfour Agreements carving up the Middle East. The British used the super-austere Wahhabi sect and the notoriously corrupt Hashemites (in Jordan and Iraq) to extend their political influence and domination of the petroleum industry.
“All political leadership of the time depended on Islam for legitimacy and all political leaders were pro-British. Islam was a tool to legitimize the rule, tyranny and corruption of Arab leaders. To the West, Islam was acceptable; it could be and was used,” writes Arab author Said K. Aburish (see his A Brutal Friendship – The West and the Arab Elite).
Once again, the West is using Islam to control and extend its sphere of influence in this most vital and strategic area of the world. Shia Islam, primarily in Iran, is in direct conflict with the globalist agenda and therefore must be rolled back, as the neocons and their Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies advised in an influential policy document, A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm, later regarded as the neocon manifesto. The 1996 document, prepared for then Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu by a team of American neocons, including former United States Assistant Secretary of Defense Richard Perle, called for taking out Iraq, undermining Syria and weakening the influence of Iran.

Syria Shuts Down Internet nationwide

US-based network security firm Renesys registered Syria disappearing from the internet at 12:26pm local time (10:26 GMT). “All 84 of Syria's IP address blocks have become unreachable, effectively removing the country from the internet,” reads Renesys’ blogpost. The same was confirmed by Akamai Technologies Inc, another US-based company that distributes content on the internet.
Syrian state TV denied the blackout was nationwide. It said the outage was cause by a technical failure, only affected some provinces and that technicians were trying to fix the problem. The Syrian Information Ministry blamed "terrorists" for the outage, as reported by the broadcaster.

According to Renesys, there are still a few Syrian networks, which belong to Tata Communications, that remain connected to the internet. "These are potentially offshore, rather than domestic, and perhaps not subject to whatever killswitch was thrown today within Syria. These five offshore survivors include the webservers that were implicated in the delivery of malware targeting Syrian activists in May of this year," writes the company.
Activists in Syria reached Thursday by satellite telephone confirmed the unprecedented blackout. They also complained of difficulties with cell and landline telephone connections. Phone disruptions can be tracked by a Renesys diagram.

CIA's deceptive "Hacktivist" group Anonymous reacted swiftly, tweeting they "know what happens in the dark #OpSyria" and offering numbers for a dial-up connection.
The shutdown comes amidst reports of intense fighting in the country’s capital, Damascus. The fighting has reportedly grounded all the flights in the international airport. An uprising against Syrian President Bashar Assad began in March last year and soon grew into a fullscale civil conflict. Over 32,000 people have died in clashes between opposition and government troops, with a further 420,000 becoming refugees.
Syrian state media maintain that Damascus continues to “cleanse” what they have branded as “terrorists" from the region.
