Geo's Shame: Mir Shakeel's Mother, Brother File a Fraud Case Against him

After its latest false flag attack on the country's prime intelligence agency, the ISI, Geo has come under heavy fire from all sections of the Pakistani civil society not only on the social media but on-ground as well. What came as a pleaseant surprise was a firm stand against Geo taken by the patriotic elements in the Pakistani Media which have never been this vocal in the past. The blatant attacks based on fabrications and lies against the country's defenders seems to have angered the nation to such an extent that there seems to be no turning back.

There are some startling reports that are circulating within the patriotic circles on the social media that are pointing out at some more disturbing facts against Geo. These might end up increasing the public anger against them even further. There are some reports that Mir Javed ur Rehman, the brother of Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, along with his mother Mrs Mahmooda Khalid are residing in Karachi in the old house of Mir Khalil ur Rehman. Both Brothers (Mir Javed and Mir Shakeel) had 30% shares each with their mother having 40% shares in Jang group. However later, being a dirty player that he is, Mir Shakeel got the shares of his mother transferred to himself through illegal means.

Reports say that Mir Javed has filed a case against Mir Shakeel that he has transferred his mother's share to himself through fraudulent activities and forgery, without the consent of his mother. Report further states that Mir Shakeel's own mother is standing against him with his brother Mir Javed on this case.

Seeing this report, it is no more hard to believe that a person who commits a fraud against his own mother, how can he be sincere to his country or to the nation? This fact is further reinforced by these reports that Jang group owes about Rs. 1 Billion to the National Bank of Pakistan which, upon demand, it has not only arrogantly refused to pay, but also threatened a blackmailing smear media campaign against the National Bank officials. Moreover, Mir Shakeel owns no less than TWO mansions at Emirates Hill, Dubai which are worth no less than Rs. 50 Million each. He not only lives a royal life but also enjoys 2 Rolls Royce cars and a private jet.

Interesting but horrifying to note here is that Jang group has successfully bought off important pawns in major Pakistani institutions who safeguards its illegal activities. Just like PEMRA, Supreme Court, Islamabad High Court and PTA, Mir Shakeel has some notorious FBR officers on his payroll who force FBR to stay mum on the fact that Jang Group is a tax defaulter of no less than Rs. 2.75 Billion. It is also ironic to note that majority of the high rate commercials being telecast on Geo are given to it by none other than the undisputed kings of corruption e.g., Malik Riaz, Mian Mansha and the Punjab Govt itself.

However, the dark age of Media terrorism is about to be over. GEO is continuously losing its rating and the unbelievable has already happened. Dunyia, ARY and Samma have already taken over GEO! Seeing the public sentiments oozing out anger on social media against Geo, it is visible that Jang Group's days of corruption, terror and backstabbing of Pakistani State are numbered.

Geo Insider: "Halakat vs Shahadat" in Jirga was Designed by Mir Shakeel ur Rehman

Mir Shakeel ur Rehman. Owner of Jang Group/Geo TV

It was an early winter night. The small intimate gathering at the rooftop of a private bungalow was a calm affair but a tête-à-tête with a well-known senior media person from Geo Network was red hot! The topic of conversation was the man behind Jang and Geo Group, Mir Shakil ur Rahman, who has transitioned from being a man behind a media empire of various famous anchors and journalist to the man accused of media-tyranny, corruption, disloyalty and treason to Pakistani nation and its solidarity. Usually hiding and firing his shells using the shoulders of his army of opinion makers in Pakistani media, Mir Shakeel has apparently felt the glare of the spotlight he has to face unwillingly.

Known for being the mastermind behind the media policies formed by Jang and Geo yet not coming forward in the limelight, Mir Shakeel ur Rahman, has now become the target of resentment by Pakistani nation and lost his media empires credibility at least in the matters of army and Intelligence. The major game changer in this regard was the announcement of a new media channel BOL that really shook Mir’s 60-year-old media empire in an unprecedented manner. BOL unveiled the anti-army sentiment of Mir Shakeel and with its bold and upfront claim of bringing about a media revolution, it has so far stirred up a storm in the media industry and at the same time making the Mir nervous. With a single full-page Job ad and a heavy online advertising campaign directed targeting  nationalistic sentiment with slogans like “I am BOL- I am Pakistan,” BOL has certainly helped in building the much needed positive sentiments for the country and armed forces. Next in line was the ARY group with its stalwart Mubasher Lucman who didn’t take much time to realize the need to further the dents that arrival of BOL caused in the foundations of the Jang/Geo media empire. Apparently fed up from the anti-Pakistan stance of the Jang/Geo group, Lucman went all out as a one-man army against Mir. In the process he also benefitted from a renewed fame and highest ever ratings.

“Mir Shakeel wants to just get the Wardi Walas off his trail!” said the media personality well known for his gift of gab while taking a sip of tea, “The direction we have received is simple: ‘get me out of focus… change Mir vs Army to something else vs army’. We initially went positive and aired 3 hours of pro-Armed forces programming on 27 October Kashmir Day this year when last year we barely aired a 2 minute piece in off-primetime”

“But the ongoing Lucman attacks were not heading off the heat from Mir Shakeel in spite of Kashmir stunt – only then Gen. Musharraf’s bail was approved! We were again debriefed to keep Military perspective in the forefront but with the change of direction..” he smirked and said adjusting his hair and specs , “Mir Sahab entrusts such things within his inner circle of reliable friends only, which obviously includes me.. This time instructing again to create a distraction (for Army) by pitching them right against Judiciary and Media! The air time we gave to Musharraf was unbelievable… His bail is no longer a story… People are not interested in him but we still aired his story 100 times in a day amid persistent pressure from Mir sahab. He wanted to fight with army but not on his own personal issues of treason and corruption. He wanted to fight on some other issue where his personal self is not involved and Musharraf was surely a safe bet.”

“Then came the Jirga on Geo! Did you see how Safi’s questions to Munawar Hasan were on the “Halaqat vs Shahadat”? How they brought ghost from the past, Major Sanaullah, in discussion about Taliban? This was all staged by Mir Shakeel ur Rahman to create a smokescreen for himself!” When I smiled at this comment, he sweared vehemently upon the Holy Book, saying,”Giving so much hype and airtime to Munawar Hasan’s comment about Hakimullah Mehsood’s ‘shahdat’ – all part of our strategy! All primetime anchors were assigned to cover this and this story ONLY!“ “(I heard) clear instructions “Shaheedon ko ragarr do!” from Mir (Shakeel ur Rahman)!” Smiling and shaking his head in a astonished manner he said, “You have to give due credit to Mir Sahab’s scheming mind – no wonder he has stayed in shadows for so long despite owning the leading media corporation in Pakistan.”

He added, “ISPR’s response to Jamat-e-Islami’s comment was an unexpected cherry-on-top for Mir Sahab too. He could only wish that a pro-establishment party’s rift with Army will create a distraction of this magnitude to take the limelight away from Mir Shakeel ur Rahman and the revelations made by Lucman.  In short, Munawar Hasan became a scapegoat for Mir Shakeel ur Rahman and us Geo people!”

“Mir Sahab didn’t stop there and once this “shahadat” issue tends to fade, he immediately directed Ansaar Abbasi to write a main story for his newspapers regarding how FIA is afraid to question the army leadership in Musharraf’s treason case. We again covered this as our lead story in GEO throughout the day… How intelligent of Mir sahab!! Reminding people of Musharraf and the present army’s role as his savior will certainly help in mudding that positive sentiment being created for army and the negative one for him….Cheez to buhut oonchi hein wo !!”

With topics transitioning from media to politics to religion, his ramble dragged on and on but my mind pondered on something else: That how accountable is a person like Mir Shakeel Ur Rahman for putting personal gains and security over journalism ethics and more importantly, national security? Is there any limit to his agenda of manipulation ranging from India to U.S and from Army to Judiciary? Will people like him keep relying on distractions and goldfish memory of our public and lurk in the shadows? With these thoughts, the tweet from Mubashar Lucman popped up on my smartphone screen, which resonated what I thought:

An open letter to Geo TV network - جیو کے نام کھلا خط

Dear Geo TV, 
Assalam-o-Alaikum.

I believe you would like to respond to this 'Salaam' with a 'Namastay' after the culture and environment you are heavily under influence of. Anyways, hope you would be doing great; cherishing and rejoicing every new Hindi movie & their entertaining semi-nude dances in this blessed month of Ramadan. Many watch you throughout the year but still many of those abandon you in Ramadan for you pollute their fasts and you know very well how you do it. There are even many more who have completely boycotted you for one reason, i.e., you are not worth watching. I as a Pakistani have countless reservations regarding your channel and  jotting down a few of them here would mean I am representing the views & opinion of thousands of common Pakistanis. First and foremost:

You claim to be a 'leading' Pakistani channel on the NGOs funded - privately owned  media so much that you even started to 'lead' my country by altering / reshaping its foreign policy so covertly that too without any authority's permission under the facade of 'Aman ki Asha' which is your and your accomplice's (Times of India) joint venture. As a Pakistani I raise question, "WHO gave you this right?" This is Democracy where opinion of masses matter cent per cent. Despite the disliking of 90% nation, you kept on running the most abhorred 'Aman Ki Asha' drama. One crucial fact that I seriously fail to understand in this complete episode of 'Aman ki Asha' is, why does only Pakistan welcome Hindu culture under the umbrella of Aman ki Asha? If it were really an exchange of friendship & peace between the two countries, why didn't India welcome our Muslim culture and norms? Was it only a one-sided traffic? Here your entire 'gameplan' of this drama comes to its drop-scene. I mean, it yells itself and tells loud and clear that 'I AM a DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA'! So please stop deceiving the innocent Pakistani nation in the name of 'Aman ki Asha'. 

Secondly: As a common Pakistani, I know a little of my self-respect and self-honor too besides chirp of a humming bird's 'peace & friendship' rhetoric. And when I find your network glorifying one-sided friendship, overlooking all my country's national interests and smashing its dignity and honor, I get seriously disappointed rather enraged. I mean, what the hell yaar? You'll give us the lollypop of friendship, compromising all my country's self-esteem & sovereignity? This is gravely unacceptable to me and tens of thousands like me who love Pakistan. 

You were the first one to accept rather declare that Pakistan was sole responsible in Mumbai attacks to the extent of making a false drama report which not only showed but somehow proved Ajmal Kassab's links to FaridKot, although it was later refuted categorically by other credible channels. And now when your beloved friend India herself confessed the Mumbai attacks false flag, you are NOT even the LAST ONE to show this development. Where you should have even apologized for your false reporting & negative propaganda, you blatantly overlooked it and with such audacity you buried it completely. However celebrating gross (and by the way, FAKE) Katrina's birthday with traditionally professional half-nude broadcasts was a high priority task. 

Thirdly: If I or someone else expressed my anger against your nauseating horse-crap on Facebook or Twitter, it is MY personal choice. Who the hell are you to interfere? This IS Democracy and I reserve a right to free speech. When this free-speech is contradictory to your interests, you start filing cases against Patriotic voices like Zaid Hamid and others. When free-speech preaches vulgarity & obscenity as per home ethics of Mir Shakeel Hanuman, then it is granted and hailed. What hypocrisy?! I express my anger loud and clear on social media against your nonsense and will keep doing it till you end up with your anger-provoking anti-Pakistan policies. And you better get that, the sooner the better for you. There's no XYZ guiding me to do this. I am sensible enough to recognize what's what and who's who! 

Fourthly: You've always portrayed a very negative image of Pakistan. I have seen so many pure, simple minded, innocent middle-aged people complaining that they have become victims of depression and other pyshological problems as a result of watching your channel. This is shameful. There are bad things going on in Pakistan but don't forget there's a little balancing force too of good things which has kept the country intact yet. There are some far worse things going in India and the United States, but you only malign my Pakistan shamelessly perhaps because Indian State Television Doordarshan and US Government gives you heavy funds only for this purpose. God and the SC know it (as revealed in the Media Commission Report). Even if the SC won't do anything, God would do something soon I fathom. 

In the end I would like to 'request' you to please mend your ways in order to continue your 'rozi roti'. Although your masters might get annoyed at you if you do so, but remember there's a Supreme master, above all your masters, and when he takes notice or responds, He does ruthlessly. See if this Pakistan is there, you will remain there and if Pakistan is not there, you'll be doomed in some lowest pits of hell. So it's better to love this Pakistan and give your loyalties to her instead of her cunning and dishonest neighbours. 

I raised voice against your anti-Pakistan activities and policies, now please go and charge a case against me too. :)

CIA agent GEO TV & Hamid Mir exposed with comprehensive proofs!

Rehman Malik meets Hamid Mir! Who is protecting whom? Who is scratching whose back? Who is loyal and who is not? Over the years, Mr. Hamid Mir has been associating with various unsavory characters. Mr. Mir has never come clean on his own links with David Hasinsky (Principle architect of GEO-TV and VOA, Ex US-Navy “Officer” and AJC member), Casper Weinberger (Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire (‘GBE’) in 198), Al-Qaeda or the ISI or the Army. Geo has strategic links with SkyTV of the UK, CNN, IBN-CNN in India and the Voice of America (VOA). Lets just keep it at that–and lets not blow it out of proportion. Mr. Mir is riding the white steed now and is of course playing the game of being more sanctimonious than thou.

Mr. Rehman Malik is a Zardari loyalist and is responsible for him getting into power. Mr. Rehman Malik’s role in the murder of Ms. Benazir Bhutto is yet to be investigated and Geo has done nothing to investigate either Shehanshah or Mr. Malik.

Mr. Hamid, despite his recent pretensions was a product of the establishment and a product of the ISI and Pakistani Army. As a journalist he had deep links with the underworld, and was rewarded by allowing him to interview Osama Bin Laden. In his recent role, he has been very critical of the Army, the ISI, and the Talibs. At the height of the Bombay crisis, Mr. Mir challenged the government’s story and tried to show that the Indians were right and the Pakistanis were wrong. He made a lot of enemies that day. 

Why was the notorious David Hazinski (more about this scoundrel in this article and the one we wrote in 2008) doing at the Geos HQ? At GEO-TV’s main broadcast center in Karachi, Hazinski built a newsroom around 24 Mac G4s running Final Cut Pro. News footage is captured with 40 Sony PD150s and 15 PD100s. NewTek Video Toaster 2 systems are used at bureaus in Islamabad and Lahore to switch between the main broadcast center. In addition to designing a systems approach for GEO-TV, Hazinski helped teach the station’s staff how to use the equipment and how to produce television news.

Hazinsky is a “US Navy Petty Officer with contacts with the State Department and the American Jewish Committee (AJC).” What are Hazinski’s links with the VOA? See this

According to (http://www.intelligentmc.com/people.html) “Most recently, he re-designed the central International Broadcast Center for the Voice of America in Washington and is consulting on new network launches for the VOA”. Lets see what else is going on at Geo.

Mr. Mir like the CIA and the US was very pro-Talib, and very pro-Army during the first Afghan Jihad. During the 2nd one, Mr. Mir regularly criticizes the Pakistan Army and the ISI–similar to the tact taken by the US and the American intelligence agencies. Mir had his reasons for doing that! Mr. Mir challenged the world on exposing him. We just did, and also have written extensively on the origins of Geo and the usual suspects were involved in its birth, growth, evolution, and monopolization of the Pakistani media. Simply put, Geo will safeguard its commercial interests and not the interests of Pakistan which it has sworn to uphold. That article was published on this site several years ago when Geo was just starting out–and it wasn’t pretty.

Will Hamid Mir explain his and Geo’s connection of Hazinski? (See details in other article or bottom of this article) WHO IS DAVID DAVID HAZINSKI? Why did Geo hire a known Neocon for help in content?

Hazinski owns Intelligent Media Consultants, LLC, a company responsible for training the staffs and helping to launch eight television networks around the world, mostly on the sub-continent. These include Aaj Tak and CNN-IBN in India and GEO TV in Pakistan. He has also consulted for broadcasters and publishers such as the Voice of America, Gramedia in Indonesia, and Alsumaria in Beirut and Baghdad. While on the faculty, Hazinski spent two years as writer, co-host and technology advisor of the internationally syndicated World Business Review with Caspar Weinberger, the Secretary of Defense under Ronald Reagan. Before coming to UGA, Hazinski served six years as an international correspondent for NBC News, covering the U.S., Europe, and Central America — and ten years before that as a TV reporter with stations in Charlotte and Pittsburgh. Some say that VOA ads on Geo, along with Geo allowing the Voice of America permission to air its program on Geo could have been one of the reasons. The Voice of America pays Geo very handsomely for airing its point of view. With Dollars comes influence. PEMRA explicitly disallows foreign TV channels to broadcast their networks from Pakistan, unless the foreign channel has permission from Pemra. Geo regularly broadcasts VOA programming (which openly spreads malicious and false propaganda against China), and perpetuates the US point of view.

That US point of view is also broadcast on Geo in the Pakistani version of the VOA report–the one hosted by Mr.Najam Sethi in Punjabi, Anglosized Punjabi, Pujabish-Urdu with occasional words in Urdu and English. Mr. Sethi’s views (though sugar coated) are sometimes to repugnant to the Pakistani mindset that Geo places an explicit explanation ahead of his program which says “the views of this author do not represent the views of Geo”, and that Geo encourages all points of view.

Geo is also beholden to Indian commercial interests. It started the “Aman ke Asha” wave which simply states, that Pakistan should forget about boundary disputes and make peace with India. Some link Mr. Mir’s investigation into Kassab to his links across the border. The PPP government while really upset by Hamid Mir, is now going through the motions of trying to cover up the ineptitude of the government, the incompetence of the ISI and the inefficiency of the Army.

After the hanging of Mr. Kassab, Mr. Mir was openly threatened by various militants who blame him for getting Kassab hanged. One such group actually said that “there will be many more Kassabs.”

Most analysts expected an attack on Mr. Hamid Mir — in light of the publication of the confession of Ajmal Kassab, in which he accused Mr. Hamid Mir in particular and Geo TV in general. This revelation came out of an article published in the Times of India which has access to the interrogation of Kassab. Apparently the Indian interrogator asked him about his opinion in the aftermath of the report published by Geo, in which Mr. Mir and is fellow journalists visited the alleged home town of Ajmal Kassab. The Indians thought that Geo had blown the cover of Kassab. Kassab said that Himad Mir and Geo were agents of the raw.

Mr. Najam Sethi in a recent program alluded this fact that Mr. Mir and Geo sent teams to village which Geo claimed were the ancestral villages of Mr. Kassab. This has now been widely reported in the world, Indian and Pakistani media–and surely does paint a target of Mr. Mir and Geo TV.

Why did the PPP government not provide additional security to Mr. Mir? Did Rehman Malik hate Mir so much that he wanted him dead? Malik visited the residence of Hamid Mir in Islamabad and vowed to provide him effective and elaborate security. Earlier, explosive material, detonator and battery packed in a bag and affixed beneath the vehicle of Mir, was found outside his house in the federal capital. Is this a joke?

The interior minister said “that security personnel from police and FC are being provided to the journalist while a police inspector of his own choice will be also deputed for his security.” Malik also announced to constitute a fact-finding committee, including a magistrate, police officials and two journalists, which will probe the incident. Lets see if any of this is in the realm of reality.

STRANGE HAPPENINGS AT GEO THAT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED: Here are some facts about Geo and some example of how Geo demoralizes the population and the general body of the Pakistani diaspora.

GEO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRASH OF THE STOCK MARKET: Geo repeatedly tele-casted false news about the Pakistani economy, the political situation and hence the stock market crashed in PakistanIn a pre-orchestrated campaign. Geo focuses on the negative news and instead of focusing on solutions it shows bodies of dead people in contradiction of PEMRA and all decency requirements. Geo focuses on petrol prices but does not inform the viewers that most private cars in Pakistan now run on CNG (liqufied petroluem gas) which costs $5 for a tank full. Most people driving cars are not affected by the rise in petrol (gasoline) prices.

In a planned manner Geo suppresses and ignores good news like 5.1 billion dollar of oil refinery in Pakistan. Geo usually ignores good news like $28 Billion Emar international island development. Geo is averse to good news about Pakistan–there is no discussion of the Bullet Trains in Pakistan. Geo does not focus foreign interference in Pakistani affairs. Geo did not discuss the 89 separatist movements in India in 2007 …from Seven Northeastern sister states, to the Naxalite insurrection, to Bihar to Kashmir, to Assam etc…
Geo Dramas: 50 percent of the dramas are Indian dramas on Geo and 25 percent are with mix cast (Indian and Pakistani) and Indian film.

Geo focuses on showing beheading of people and other depressing news. Why did Geo not focus on showing 250 million people sleeping on sidewalks in India? Geo did not cover for 36 hours the killing of 3000 Muslims in Gujrat?
Urdu is not used by many hosts. Morning host shows are in English and “Urdlish” ( a horrible combination). The Younger generation is being spoiled by using them as instruments of hedonism. Some of the shows are way beyond the pale on being modern. Nudity is not modernity. Science and Technology is modernity.

Geo plays into the hands of the opposition parties. It does not discuss opportunities for development. When Mr. Shaharayar interviewed the President of Azad Kashmir he interrupted him and did not allow him to speak about the problems with the article of accession of Kashmir to India (which is now lost) if it ever existed. Geo continues to use Indian jargon like “partition”. Partition signifies a temporary dissection of the whole. India was never whole. Even during British times there were more than 500 states in the Subcontinent. Some of them banded together to make Pakistan and others banded together to make India. Discussion of Kashmir, Manvadar, Junagarh are non-existent on Geo. Most Geo maps show Kashmir as part of Pakistan. Azad Kashmir is never shown. Some Geo maps sill show the Northern Areas as part of India or part of Kashmir.

Geo was started with the help of an ex US Naval Petty Officer by the name of Hazinski who has links with Mr. Casper Weinberger and many Indian channels.

David Hazinski, associate professor at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, is the principle architect of GEO-TV and managed the station’s launch. Hazinski was contacted by the Jang Group, Pakistan’s largest newspaper publisher and GEO-TV’s owner, after he shepherded the successful launch of a similar station in India in January 2001. Aaj Tak, the first all-news, Hindi-language channel in India, now has a 60% share of the news audience in India. As one of the owners of Intelligent Media Consultants, an Atlanta-based company that helps its clients design efficient and profitable network operations through the creative application of broadcast technology, Hazinski has worked all over the world launching news operations in markets starved for unbiased reporting. “This is really the cutting edge of technology and journalism,” says Hazinski, a former NBC news correspondent who says he and his partners have helped launch at least a dozen news operations in the last 10 years. “These are new markets. They haven’t been exposed to lots of TV.”

Because most of Intelligent Media’s clients are unfamiliar with broadcast news techniques, Hazinski says he is able to tailor unique approaches that maximize their limited budgets. “These people are willing to try new things because they don’t want to pay the outrageous costs associated with news production in the United States,” he says. “Right now, based on what we learned in Pakistan, we’re convinced we can launch a network today for half of what it would have cost three years ago. And no one would see any quality difference on the air – even if we aired it in the U.S.”

At GEO-TV’s main broadcast center in Karachi, Hazinski built a newsroom around 24 Mac G4s running Final Cut Pro. News footage is captured with 40 Sony PD150s and 15 PD100s. NewTek Video Toaster 2 systems are used at bureaus in Islamabad and Lahore to switch between the main broadcast center. In addition to designing a systems approach for GEO-TV, Hazinski helped teach the station’s staff how to use the equipment and how to produce television news. Greg Pope, a freelance editor and producer formerly with CNN, spent one month in Karachi this summer training GEO-TV’s news staff, which primarily consists of newspaper journalists. “We basically had to convert people from print journalists to TV journalists,” says Pope, adding that he had never taught production techniques in a classroom setting to non-English speaking students. “These print people were basically issued cameras and editing equipment and within months were transformed from pen and paper to this new electronic media. Some of them didn’t even know how to use a keyboard when we started.”

Considering the steep learning curve for the Pakistani journalists, Pope says he was amazed at their perseverance and enthusiasm. “These people are tired of having Western news and government news shoved down their throats,” says Pope, who estimates that he taught 100 people to shoot and edit video. “They want their own voice. They want to represent themselves in their own way.” But there is still a chance that the government will shut down GEO-TV. Pope says that while he was training the news staff, it was widely believed that there were spies for PTV within their ranks. However, in recent years the Jang Group has won many battles for freedom of the press, so there is hope that GEO-TV will succeed. “If they have minimal government interference, [GEO-TV] will change the face of Pakistan,” says Pope.

WHO IS CASPER WEINBERGER? And why did Geo associate with a known war monger? Caspar Willard “Cap” Weinberger (August 18, 1917 – March 28, 2006), was an American politician and Secretary of Defense under President Ronald Reagan from January 21, 1981, until November 23, 1987, making him the third longest-serving defense secretary to date, after Robert McNamara and Donald Rumsfeld. He is also known for his roles in the Strategic Defense Initiative program and the Iran-Contra Affair.

Following his resignation as Secretary of Defense, Weinberger was placed under indictment by Independent Counsel Lawrence E. Walsh. The formal indictment charged Weinberger withseveral felony counts of lying to the Iran-Contra independent counsel during its investigation. Weinberger received a Presidential pardon from President George H.W. Bush on December 24, 1992, after Bush had failed to win a second term. In 1996, Weinberger co-authored a book entitled The Next War, which raised questions about the adequacy of US military capabilities following the end of the Cold War. After he published his book, his colleagues from the Reagan administration broke contact and refused to speak with him.

WEINBERGER DISCUSSES IRAN AND THE NEXT WAR: From Publishers Weekly
Weinberger, secretary of defense for most of the Reagan years, collaborates with Schweizer, president of the James Madison Institute, to present five possible near-future scenarios in which the U.S. goes to war. Scenario one is based on a North Korean invasion of South Korea that ends in stalemate after a limited nuclear exchange. Number two casts Iran as a rogue state using ballistic missiles to alter the Middle East’s balance of power. The third scenario postulates a radical Mexican government scapegoating the U.S. as the source of its country’s woes. A fourth describes the conquest of Europe by a resurgent Russia?again with the aid of nuclear weapons. In scenario five, the U.S. and Japan reignite the Pacific War of 1941-1945, this time using “cyberstrikes” against information systems, chemical warfare and a nuclear exchange. The authors tell their stories through the eyes of fictional participants. DESTABILIZING PAKISTAN: Geo has been blamed for participating in and highlighting events per CNN instructions. Why is Geo not reporting Gen. Kayani’s statement that he suspects a foreign hand in the assassination to destabilize and denuclearize Pakistan? Chinese citizens continue to be targeted by individuals pretending to be Islamists, when no known Islamic group has claimed responsibility. . A succession of “religious rebels” with suspicious foreign links have suddenly emerged in Pakistan over the past months claiming to be “Pakistani Taliban”. Some of the names include Abdul Rashid Ghazi, Baitullah Mehsud, and now the Maulana of Swat. Money and weapons have been fed into the religious movements and al-Qaeda remnants in the tribal areas.

Exploiting the situation, assets within the Pakistani media started promoting the idea that the Pakistani military was killing its own people. The rest of the unsuspecting media quickly picked up this message. Some botched US and Pakistani military operations against al-Qaeda that caused civilian deaths accidentally fed this media campaign.This was the perfect timing for the launch of Military, Inc: Inside Pakistan’s Military Economy, a book authored by Ayesha Siddiqa Agha, a columnist for a Pakistani English-language paper and a correspondent for “Jane’s Defence Weekly”, a private intelligence service founded by experts close to British intelligence. The Idiot Box: How TV Is Turning Us All Into Zombies

Television re-wires your mind and alters your consciousness; Studies find that children’s brains are not developing properly While these words are more often than not used as a tiresome metaphor to highlight how much crap we are forced to endure on television today, they do in fact serve as a deadly accurate literal statement. Two separate studies this month alone have found that excessive amounts of television, even if it is merely on in the background, can detrimentally effect the development of children’s brains, to the point where they struggle to socially engage when they become older.

Add to this the already extensively documented impact that the television has on all of us, the power it has to literally alter our consciousness and shut down critical thinking, and it is no wonder that it was long ago dubbed the idiot box. As reported by Reuters this month, researchers from the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), found that background noise emitted from television is so distracting and mesmerizing to children that it is impacting their ability to interact with other human beings and potentially slowing down cognitive thinking and language development.

The study, published in the journal Pediatrics, found that children in the US are now exposed to more than five hours a day of television. Matthew Lapierre, who led the study, explained that children who are subjected to the most TV spend less time interacting with other children and parents.

Lapierre also found that younger children are subjected to the most background television.

“This is a clear warning signal to parents that if they are not watching TV, they ought to turn it off,” said Dr. Victor Strasburger, a pediatrician from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque who has previously studied media exposure among children. “[It is also] a reminder that parents should be avoiding screen time in infants under two.” he said.

“It’s confusing for babies who are trying to get their language together to have indistinguishable voices in the background.” Strasburger also noted, telling reporters that when parents bring their children to him, he can tell which toddlers are over exposed to TV.

“The babies that are being read to are just chattering away, and the babies that sit in front of a TV are silent,” he said. “It means their language development is threatened – they may catch up, but it’s a concern.”

In a separate study, doctors at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in London found that children born today will have watched a full year of television by the time they are seven years old. The study also found that on average children now spend more time watching television than they do in school.

Dr Aric Sigman published the study in the Archives Of Disease In Childhood, a medical journey jointly own by the British Medical Journal group.

Sigman noted that such extensive exposure to television can lead to a void when it comes to social relationships, can lead to attention deficit problems, and can promote significant psychological difficulties.

Sigman also noted that over exposure to new technologies such as 3D televisions and consoles could seriously affect the development of depth perception in children.

The study recommends preventing children under three years old from watching television altogether, and says that all children should be limited to less than two hours of TV per day.

“As health risks are reported to occur beyond exposure of two hours of screen time per day, although the average child is exposed to three times this amount, a robust initiative to encourage a reduction in daily recreational screen time could lead to significant improvements in child health and development.” Sigman noted.

In a report issued one year ago, the American Academy of Pediatrics pointed out that scores of previous studies have come to the same conclusions; that there is a direct link between increased TV time and developmental delays in children.

In 2010, another study published in Pediatrics, found that during analysis of over 1,000 children between the ages of ten and eleven, those who spend at least two hours a day in front of a television screen are 60 percent more likely to have psychological problems than children who spend less or no time. The study also noted that even children taking part in physical activities but still watching TV are still fifty percent more likely to suffer problems such as hyperactivity, difficulty with peers and friends, poor conduct and antisocial kinds of behavior.

Further studies published in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, found that children exposed to more TV are significantly more likely to exhibit aggressive behavior and perform poorly in school. In addition, the findings noted that children who watch more TV are more likely to eat more junk-food and suffer bullying at the hands of classmates – consequences that have their own brain re-wiring effects.

Other recent scientific studies have noted that many programs produced specifically for children may have even worse effects on their development because they are very fast moving, thus overtaxing the brain and promoting reduced attention span.

Owing to such proven effects of television and video games, children’s minds are being numbed before they have even developed. By the time they reach adulthood, they act according to decisions made to a great extent unconsciously. They are effectively zombies; humans operating with an impulsive, reactionary mind set, at the expense of logical analysis and critical thought.

And kids are not the only ones who are susceptible to television’s ability to create armies of the walking dead.

It is commonly known that television flicker rates induce alpha brain waves, lulling the brain into a more subconscious state that can be compared to sleep, literally inducing a type of hypnosis within the viewer that makes them more susceptible to suggestion.

This has been known since the 1960s, and was most notably proven in an experiment in 1969, by Herbert Krugman. The research, undertaken by Krugman as part of a larger project concerned with advertising, revealed that the brain’s left hemisphere, which processes information logically and analytically, effectively tunes out almost completely when an individual watches television.

The radiant light and flicker rate of television screens cause brain activity to drop toward more of a theta state. Critical thinking reduces, leaving the parts of the brain that hold memories, sensations and emotions the most active. Whatever is coming from the TV therefore somewhat bypasses the logical mind and is embedded directly into the subconscious. In other words, TV appeals more to emotions than logic.

Numerous studies have also found that flicker rates in video games cause altered consciousness. Some have been shown to reduce brain activity to below Delta frequency.

Other studies have also flagged up a link between watching too much television and Alzheimer’s disease. The semi conscious state induced by television is thought to directly contribute to the symptoms of memory, speech and perception problems.

Krugman also discovered that reading and listening to audio increases cognition and builds neuron paths because you have to think critically and envision the “theater of the mind”.

In addition, the crossover from the left to the right brain induced by watching television, causes a release of the body’s natural opiates, similar to a release of endorphins when exercising. This has the effect of making the viewer feel good. Consequently, withdrawal symptoms can kick in if viewers turn off the turn. As with any form of opiate-withdrawal, symptoms include increased anxiety, frustration, and depression.

Experiments conducted in the 1970s found that people who turn off their TVs for long periods after prolonged viewing suffer from depression, with some noting that they felt as though they had “lost a friend.”

A combination of four studies, published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, concluded that television shows can instill a sense of belonging in viewers with low self-esteem and a lack of social relationships. Referring to the notion as social surrogacy hypothesis, psychologists at the University at Buffalo and Miami University, Ohio, found that in order to fill the emotional void of social deprivation, some people forge relationships with fictional characters in TV shows.

TV really is the opiate of the masses.

Of course, what I describe here is only a snapshot. We are today bombarded from all angles with distractions, substances, and conditions created to transform the way we interpret our reality. We are being conditioned from birth to act increasingly without consciousness; the one thing that sets us apart from every other living thing in the known universe.

We are literally being programmed into a waking sleep, a zombie-like existence. We must act vigilantly and educate others if we are to break this programming and preserve our humanity.

Hamid Mir, the traitor

QUETTA - Quetta Judicial Magistrate-III Muhammad Ibrahim Kakar has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Geo’s anchorperson and columnist Hamid Mir as well as the chairman of the group and editor-in-chief of daily Jung newspaper. The court issued Mir’s arrest warrant in a case filed by a senior lawyer of Balochistan, Khalid Khan. The petitioner has taken the plea that in his column of October 24, 2011, Mir had deliberately used contemptuous words against Pashtoon nationality that hurt the feeling of Pashtoon people. Besides the columnist, he had also made the editor-in-chief of the newspaper a party in the case. He has prayed for legal action against both the columnist and editor- in-chief for hurting the feelings of Pashtoons. Notices have already been served on both respondents for their appearance before the court but they failed to comply with the orders. Three lawyers, including Abdul Majid Kakar, Abdul Wali Nasir and Abdul Zahir represented the petitioner in the court. It should be noted that Hamid Mir has continuously been involved in heinous crimes against Pakistan which include his affiliation to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and he is also the main suspect in the assassination of Khalid Khwaja.
