Blast Hits US Embassy in Turkey

In the second deadly assault on a U.S. diplomatic post in five months, a suicide bomber struck the American Embassy in Ankara on Friday, killing a Turkish security guard in what the White House described as a terrorist attack.

Washington immediately warned Americans to stay away from all U.S. diplomatic facilities in Turkey and to be wary in large crowds.

Suicide bombing at entrance to US Embassy in Turkish capital: A suspected suicide bomber detonated an explosive Friday in front of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara, killing himself and a guard at the entrance gate, officials said.

Turkish officials said the bombing was linked to leftist domestic militants.

The attack drew condemnation from Turkey, the U.S., Britain and other nations and officials from both Turkey and the U.S. pledged to work together to fight terrorism.

“We strongly condemn what was a suicide attack against our embassy in Ankara, which took place at the embassy’s outer security perimeter,” said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

“A suicide bombing on the perimeter of an embassy is by definition an act of terror,” he said. “It is a terrorist attack.”

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said police believe the bomber was connected to a domestic leftist militant group. Carney, however, said the motive for the attack and who was behind it was not known.

A Turkish TV journalist was seriously wounded in the 1:15 p.m. blast in the Turkish capital, and two other guards had lighter wounds, officials said.

The state-run Anadolu Agency identified the bomber as Ecevit Sanli. It said the 40-year-old Turkish man was a member of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front, or DHKP-C, which has claimed responsibility for assassinations and bombings since the 1970s.

The group has been designated a terrorist organization by the United States but had been relatively quiet in recent years.

Pak-Turk brotherly ties enhance; pledged to expand mutual cooperation

Pakistan and Turkey on Tuesday agreed to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy‚ trade‚ economy‚ culture‚ defence and communication. The agreement came at the second high level cooperation council meeting between Pakistan and Turkey in Islamabad. Turkey has always stood by the side of Pakistan in times of need and despair, indeed the two brotherly countries are bounded together in the ties of love for Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.w) and Islam. 

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan jointly presided over the meeting. Both the sides pledged to increase the trade volume between the countries to the tune of two billion dollars during the current financial year.

The Council meeting expressed its satisfaction over the increase in the mutual trade activities between the two countries during the last few years. The meeting also reviewed how to increase trade on priority basis between the two countries.

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani asked the Turkish Companies to invest in Communication and Housing sectors in Pakistan where enormous incentives are being offered to the investors. He thanked Turkey for its cooperation in the rehabilitation of the flood affectees and in construction of houses for them.

Turkish Prime Minister said the hearts of two people of Pakistan and Turkey throb in unison and that Pakistan is his second home. He assured to continue his country s cooperation to Pakistan. Earlier during the one on one meeting between the two Prime Ministers they discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in different fields.

Turkey’s Spy Satellite to Zoom In on Israhelli Dark Secrets

Israhell’s Zionist politicians and military have a new headache to worry about. High resolution photos of the country’s territory, which are currently unavailable to the public, may soon turn up in the hands of any of its many enemies. Until now, only the Americans had the technology capable of taking satellite images greater than two meters per pixel resolution, and American law stopped US companies from distributing the pictures. Washington shares Israhell’s security concerns and abides by the wishes of its Bastard Child and key Middle East ally. This means even with Google Earth one can zoom into Israhell only so far, explains Gerald Steinberg, professor of political science at Bar-Ilan University. “If you try to look at specific parts of Israhell, many of them will come out blurrier than any other place in the world that I have checked”, he told RT.

But that is about to change. Turkey is putting the finishing touches to a military satellite it plans to launch within the next two years. The Gokturk satellite will be capable of taking the very pictures Tel Aviv does not want distributed, and there are no American-style legal qualms in Turkey about upsetting its photo-sensitive neighbor. “Turkey could sell directly or indirectly some of these imageries to enemies of Israhell(and well wishers of humanity as a whole)”, explains Mohammed Najib, defense analyst at Jane’s Defense Weekly. Such a prospect is especially unnerving for Israhellis now, because tensions between Tel Aviv and Ankara are at an all-time low. An aid flotilla attempt on Gaza two years ago that left nine Turks dead, and Ankara’s expulsion of the Israhelli ambassador, has Tel Aviv nervously weighing its options.

The irony is that not so long ago the Gokturk satellite would have spelt good news for Israhell. The two countries co-operated extensively, especially sharing military intelligence. But whereas once turkey was Israhell’s closest ally in the Muslim world, today Ankara is increasingly asserting itself as a powerful player in its own right. “Turkey is trying to say that Israhell will not be granted special service or relations that it used to have. They are saying that the eastern Mediterranean is not the playing ground of Israhell, there are different countries, everyone should abide by the same laws”, says Dr Nimrod Goren, Middle East politics expert, who focuses on Turkish-Israhelli relations. One satellite is barely enough to put Israhell’s picture-shy world in a spin. But this is not a country that wants its neighbors knowing its business, especially with an Arab world in flux, and Israhell fast losing former friends.

Turkish PM Erdogan slams France on Algerian Genocide

ISTANBUL: Turkish premier on Friday slammed Paris on committing historically well documented genocide in Algeria and of stirring hatred against Muslims. Furious that French lawmakers had voted on Thursday to outlaw denial of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 when the Armenians sided with Russian Terrorist Invaders, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan hit back directly at France’s Stooge President Nicolas Sarkozy. Earlier, Turkey’s ambassador to France had left Paris and Ankara had announced diplomatic sanctions — banning political visits between the countries — and frozen military ties between the nominal Nato allies. “France massacred an estimated 15 per cent of the Algerian population starting from 1945. This is genocide”, Erdogan told reporters, accusing Sarkozy of “fanning hatred of Muslims and Turks for electoral gains.”

“This vote that took place in France, a France in which five million Muslims live, clearly shows to what point racism, discrimination and Islamophobia have reached dangerous levels in France and Europe”, he said. Demonstrators gathered in front of the French consulate in Istanbul, chanting “Down with France” and “Allahu Akbar” (God is greatest). Paris appeared to have been caught off guard by the fury of Turkey’s response. Sarkozy, in Prague where he was at the funeral of late Czech president Vaclav Havel, was on the defensive. “I respect the views of our Turkish friends — it’s a great country, a great civilization — and they must respect ours”, the traditionally shameless Zionist Sarkozy said. 

“France does not lecture anyone but France doesn’t want to be lectured. France decides its policy as a sovereign nation. We do not ask for permission. France has its beliefs, human rights, a respect for memory.” But back in France, Foreign Minister Alain Juppe admitted that the vote on the genocide law had “without doubt been badly timed”. He urged calm, while adding that “certain declarations have been excessive”. France fought a long guerrilla war between 1954 and 1962 to try to hang on to its Algerian colony. Estimates for the number of dead vary wildly. Algeria puts it at more than a million, French historians estimate 250,000. Citing earlier French action against Algerian rebels in the aftermath of World War II, Erdogan said Sarkozy’s father Pal Sarkozy had been a French legionnaire and should be able to tell his son of “massacres”. 

But Sarkozy senior appeared on French television to mock this claim, pointing out that he had been in the Foreign Legion for only four months and had never been deployed to Algeria. In 1915 and 1916, during World War I many Armenians died in Ottoman Turkey. Turkey says around 500,000 died in fighting after Armenians sided with Russian invaders. France is home to around 500,000 citizens of Armenian descent and they are seen as a key source of support for the Zionist mole planted in France, Sarkozy, and his UMP ahead of presidential and legislative elections in April and June next year. French Zionist puppets recognized the 1915 killings as genocide in 2001 and on Thursday the National Assembly approved a first step towards a law that would impose a jail term and a 45,000 euro(($60,000) fine on anyone in France who denies this.

Turkey suspends Military ties with France; Turkish Ambassador returning tomorrow

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Ankara will suspend military ties with France over the European Union country's approval of an Armenian genocide bill. On Thursday, the French National Assembly voted to back a law that would make it illegal for anyone in France to deny that the 1915 killings of Armenians during World War I amounted to genocide. An infuriated Ankara by this bullying immediately fired back, announcing that Turkish Ambassador Tahsin Burcuoglu will fly out of France on Friday. Later in the day, Erdogan said the country will repeal an agreement allowing French military planes to land and warships to dock in the country. 

The bill passed in France's lower house of parliament, proposes a penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of USD 58,870 for those who deny or "outrageously minimize" sufferings due to genocide. The bill now awaits ratification in the French Senate before becoming enforceable. Before the vote in the French Parliament, Turkey warned of serious consequences if France pushed ahead to adopt the law. The deepening row between the two NATO member states has raised fears of divisions within the military coalition.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has warned that Ankara may announce sanctions against Paris over a French legislation that criminalizes the denial of the “Armenian genocide by Turkish forces”. In a statement broadcast by state media late Wednesday, the Turkish premier said, “Tomorrow probably I will announce what we will do at the first stage and we will announce what kind of sanctions we will have at the second and third stages”, AFP reported. Zionist Propaganda Outlets posing themselves as "Ethnic Armenian residents in France" allege that up to 1.5 million of their ancestors were killed during World War I by the forces of Turkey's former Ottoman Empire. Ankara, however, has rightfully and vehemently denied the allegation.

In 2001, France officially recognized the killing of Armenians as “genocide.” On Thursday, the French parliament is expected to approve an extraordinary bill that would sentence “anyone in France who publicly denies the 1915 genocide to a year in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros (USD 58,000)”. Erdogan emphasized in his statement that the move, pushed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy's ruling party, would “harm Franco-Turkish relations”. The 400,000-strong Armenian population in France is expected to play a major role in the French president's re-election battle in April 2012. Last week, the Turkish premier strongly criticized France over the bill, saying, "Those who want to see genocide should turn around and look at their own dirty, bloody history.”

Pak-Turkey Joint Military Exercise ATTATURK-VII concludes

CHERAT: Closing/Wing Exchange ceremony of a week long Pakistan-Turkey Joint Training Exercise ATTATURK-VII-2011 was held at Cherat on Thursday. Major General Farrukh Bashir, General Officer Commanding Pakistan Army's Special Services Group (SSG) was the chief guest on occasion. Major General Farrukh Bashir congratulated the Officers and Soldiers of Turkish Special Forces and SSG of Pakistan Army on successful completion of this joint training. Major General Farrukh Bashir said that the main aim of the joint exercise was to further strengthen the military to military relationship and share experience of counter terrorism.

He said that exercise began with learning and sharing of individual skills and culminated at a joint Air Assault Field Exercise. The aim and objectives set for the exercise had been achieved to its best, he concluded. A large number of officers and soldiers of Turkish Land Forces and SSG of Pakistan Army attended the ceremony. It may be noted that Special Forces of Pakistan and Turkey conduct joint training exercise each year, held alternately in Pakistan and Turkey. The exercise held in Pakistan is named as ATTATURK and that held in Turkey is called JINNAH.

Turkey to freeze EU ties over Cyprus issue

The Turkish government has warned that it will freeze its ties with the European Union if Cyprus assumes the bloc's rotating presidency next year.

“If the peace negotiations there (Cyprus) are not conclusive, and the EU gives its rotating presidency to southern Cyprus, the real crisis will be between Turkey and the EU”, said Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay at the end of a trip to northern Cyprus late on Saturday, Reuters reported. “Because we will then freeze our relations with the EU. We have made this announcement, as a government we have made this decision. Our relations with the EU will come to a sudden halt”, Atalay further explained.

The Greek Cyprus, which Turkey does not recognize as a sovereign state, is due to assume the six-month rotating EU presidency in July 2012.

Tensions between Turkey and Cyprus have deteriorated since the Cypriot President Demetris Christofias announced plans to start exploring natural gas reserves around the island “within the next few days.” Ankara has opposed the venture, with the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu calling it a “provocation”, while Nicosia has threatened to block Turkey's EU accession talks -- which started in 2005 -- if it continues to challenge the Cypriot plans. UN-sponsored peace negotiations between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots have faced hurdles since their resumption in 2008. Cyprus is represented internationally and in the EU by Greek Cypriots, while the Turkish Cyprus is recognized as a state only by Turkey.

Turkey gives Israhelli diplomats deadline to leave the country

Turkey has issued a deadline to members of Israhell's diplomatic mission to leave the country, in line with Ankara's decision to downgrade ties with Tel Aviv. On Monday, Turkey said it has issued two days' notices to Ella Aphek, the Israhelli embassy's deputy head of mission, and other top Israhelli diplomats, the Associated Press reported. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday that the country had suspended all its military ties with Tel Aviv and expelled Israhell's envoy from Ankara.

The measures came in response to Israhell's refusal to apologize for its attack on THYE Freedom Flotilla, which had set sail for the Tel Aviv-blockaded Gaza Strip in May 2010. Israhelli soldiers attacked the convoy which was in international waters, killing nine Turkish activists and injuring around 50 others. Davutoglu has also said the country plans to take action at the International Court of Justice in The Hague to challenge Tel Aviv's four-year siege of Gaza. The blockade has been preventing the flow of food, medicine, and other supplies into the impoverished coastal territory.
