Indian Mouthpiece of SAFMA, Najam Sethi joined hands with the notorious Husain Haqqani against Pakistan in a new treason. According to some media reports, the shameless Care taker chief minister of Punjab Najam Sethi  is getting involved into theft by making forged photocopies of critical data of Punjab Government. Husain Haqqani is working side by side with Najam Sethi.

Memogate: Supreme Court Issues Notices

In the case of memogate scandal, Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday issued notice to all the parties. According to a private TV channel, Pakistan’s former ambassador to USZ who was handpicked by Washington, Husain Haqqani and USZ businessman Mansoor Ijaz, along with other involved parties, were issued legal notices. A nine-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry will hear the case on July 12. Previously, memo commission announced the findings of the report which signified that Haqqani authored and delivered the memo.

Memogate: Commission's Report Confirms Traitor Haqqani Wrote Memo

Traitor Hussain Haqqani

Judicial commission submitted its report in the Supreme Court on Monday. A nine-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of Memogate scandal on Tuesday. The larger bench includes Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Jawad S Khwaja, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Tariq Parvez, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Amir Hani Muslim, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Azmat Saeed. During case proceeding, a report submitted by the Judicial Commission confirmed the authenticity of the ‘memo’ and stated that former ambassador to the USZ Hussain Haqqani wrote to Mansoor Ijaz for delivering it to former USZ Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen.

The Supreme Court has ordered to issue notices and forward copies of the commission s report to all the respondents. The case hearing has been adjourned for two weeks. The scandal was unearthed when Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz claimed last year of having received a message from Haqqani to deliver a confidential memo to Admiral Mike Mullen, regarding a possible military takeover.

Why USZ protects CIA terrorism?

Since Pakistan became the only declared nuclear country in the Islamic World, US, India and Israel started acting upon their collective agenda to destabilise it. After the shift of the Great Game from Central Asia to Pakistan, the country has become special target of American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad which have been supporting target killings, suicide attacks, hostage-takings, sectarian and ethnic violence in various cities, and separatist elements in Balochistan. 


These foreign agencies based in Afghanistan have been sending well-trained agents and militants in Pakistan who also attack the check posts of Pakistan’s security forces. Besides Afghanistan, US-led espionage network has also been shifted to Pakistan as intensity of anti-Pakistan activities especially of CIA agents have proved.


In this context, US has openly been protecting CIA agents by pressuring Pakistan. Without paying attention to the fact about the conviction of a Pakistani doctor, Shakeel Afridi, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on May 24, this year condemned his imprisonment as “unjust and unwarranted” for helping in the hunt for Osama bin Laden.


Moreover, to further blackmail Islamabad for Dr. Shakeel Afridi’s release, US Senate cuts $33m aid to Pakistan. On May 29, a US Conservative Senator Rand Paul suggested to suspend all Pak aid until Dr. Afridi is set free.


In fact, Shakeel Afridi has been sentenced 33 years imprisonment by order of the Assistant Political Agent, Bara due to his anti-state activities in accordance with the provision of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and the tribal traditions. The punishment is based on his close association with the banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Islam led by Mangal Bagh. The evidence produced by the Joint Investigation Team before the court proved Dr. Afridi’s clandestine collaboration with the CIA in connection with the May 2 US raid in Abbottabad which violated Pakistan’s sovereignty.


Notably, since 2008, intermittent fighting in Tirah Valley in Kyber Agency between Ansur-ul-Islam, and Lashkar-e-Islam which has been supporting by CIA-led RAW and Mossad, have claimed more than 2500 lives.


Particularly with the assistance of CIA, RAW has hired the services of the Indian Muslims who are on US payroll. Posing themselves as staunch believers, they joined the ranks and files of the Taliban and other militant groups of Tehreek-e-Taliban, Sipah-e-Sahaba and other religious sects. The main aim behind is to continue sectarian and ethnic disturbance in Pakistan besides committing other subversive acts to destabilse Pakistan.


Recently, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik disclosed that the militants of the banned outfits of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Baloch Liberation Army are in collaboration in creating unrest in Karachi. On July 18, 2011, Rehman Malik, while disclosing the involvement of foreign hands in Pakistan, had openly stated, “Over 200 miscreants have been arrested… Israeli and American made weapons including AK-45 rifles have been recovered from them.”


Now, US is so anxious for the release of CIA agent Dr Afridi that it has set aside, Pak-US ongoing negotiations on the complex issue of restoring the NATO supply routes.


Last year, American top officials urged Pakistan to set free American national, Raymond Davis who killed two Pakistani nationals in Lahore on January 27, 2011. In fact, Davis was an under-cover secret agent of CIA who entered Pakistan in guise of diplomat.


In 2009, the existence of the US private security firm, Blackwater was verified. Blackwater and CIA started recruiting Pakistani nationals who were vulnerable and could work on their payroll. As part of US espionage network, hundreds of the American CIA spies entered Pakistan under the guise of diplomats. They started supervising and guiding the anti-Pakistan activities through their affiliated militants. These spies were also trying to gather information about Pakistan’s nuclear assets.


On the other side, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence agency (ISI) started thwarting the anti-Pakistan activities of the spies of Blackwater and CIA. In this context, with the pre-information of ISI, Pakistan’s security agencies arrested a number of agents. For instance, on September 19, 2009, police raided the Inter-Risk, a private security company in Islamabad, and arrested its two employees, possessing unlicensed arms. While, US embassy spokesperson Richard Snelsire pretended, “The US contract with the Inter-Risk is to provide security at the embassy and consulates.”


Besides, on many occasions, ISI helped in stopping the secret movements of the CIA spies who were traveling in vehicles, covered with black mirrors—showing themselves as diplomats. Sometimes weapons were also snatched from them. On the information of ISI, Pakistan’s establishment expelled several so-called diplomats, operating in the country. On the other side, US withheld $700 million in military aid to punish its military and ISI.


To what extent America saves CIA agents, could also be judged from the famous Memogate case. On December 15, 2011, the Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and former ISI Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha submitted their statements in the Supreme Court in the memogate case. The former Pakistani ambassador to the US, Husain Haqqani who had resigned from his post to face the investigations about the allegations made by Mansoor Ijaz, an American businessman of Pakistani origin in the memo, also attended the hearings of the Court, and joined the concerned judicial commission, but he was allowed to leave the country after an assurance that he would appear before the court whenever ordered to do so.


Mansoor Ijaz also submitted his reply in the Supreme Court, claiming that he sent the draft of the memo to Husain Haqqani for review. Ijaz had assured Haqqani that the memo contained an offer, backed by President Asif Zardari that the US should help to oust the current military leadership—a new national security team would disband the Army unit which collaborates with the Taliban and other anti-Western militant groups.


On a number of occasions, Mansoor changed his statements about his accusations against Pak Army, ISI and the memo. During his cross-examination to the judicial commission, via a video link from London, he refused to comment on the source of the draft.


After going to the US, Husain Haqqani has been using various pretexts, not to face the judicial commission’s inquiry. On January 4, 2012, he sent an application before the commission including a medical certificate, requesting to adjourn hearing. Haqqani also requested the commission to record his statement via video link from Landon. Besides, he also indicated that his mobile phone set was missing.


In fact, while serving as Pakistani ambassador in the US, Husain Haqqani issued visas to many CIA agents to destabilise Pakistan. Besides, Haqqani developed secret links with the anti-Pakistan Indo-Israeli lobbies. This could be judged from his book, titled, “Pakistan: Between Mosque and Military.” In this book, he targeted both military and Islamic ideology, blaming Pak Army and ISI in contact with the Islamic militants. American famous writers and authors, especially Stephen P. Cohen exaggeratedly praised Husain Haqqani’s book as it was in accordance with the hidden agenda and blame game of the US which still continue against Pakistan and its security agencies.


Mansoor Ijaz who is CIA agent was also used not only to create a rift between Pakistan’s civil and military leadership, but also to save Husain Haqqani through the deliberate self-contradictory statements and thus to weaken the memo case. While, former US National Security Advisor James Jones who earlier admitted the receipt of the secret memo denied the same, while the ex-Admiral Mike Mullen also refused its confirmation. The major purpose of the episode was to protect Hussain Haqqani who has absconded as he was also working for CIA.

Memogate: Forensic Reports of Mansoor Ijaz's Laptop, Blackberry prove Haqqani guilty

ISLAMABAD - The judicial commission appointed by the Supreme Court on Friday announced it had completed the proceedings to probe memogate scandal, while the completion of a comprehensive report would take some time. "The commission has completed its proceedings today. We will hold an in-camera session soon, after which a comprehensive fact-finding report would be prepared to be submitted before the apex court”, head of the panel Qazi Faez Essa said, adding that only an in-camera hearing was to be held.

The three-member commission resumed hearing on Friday at the Islamabad High Court. Raja Jawad, the secretary of judicial commission which is mandated to probe the memogate, recorded his statement under oath along with a forensic report of Mansoor Ijaz' Blackberry handset. Raja Jawad said ten companies were contacted to carry out forensic test of Mansoor Ijaz' blackberry sets and laptops, adding that suitable forensic experts were hired to conduct examination, following evaluation of quality standards and ‘the price to hire services’.

He added that only he and the experts were present during forensic inspection, which lasted for eight hours. Mansoor Ijaz had requested to keep record of his blackberry handsets and laptop secret. “We did not break his trust", Raja Jawad told the commission. On Friday, Zahid Hussain Bokhari, the counsel for obvious traitor Hussain Haqqani, did not appear before the commission. Barrister Akram Sheikh, while quoting some media reports, told the judicial panel that Zahid had refused to appear before the commission. It prompted Justice Qazi Faez Essa to remark that the commission did not believe in media reports; however, Bokhari did not give any application to the commission on the subject.

"Zahid Bokhari has not formally informed the commission about not appearing before the commission. We cannot trust the media reports in this regard." Raja Jawad said both Mansoor Ijaz and Husain Haqqani had been notified of the forensic examination, adding that he had issued ordered for in-camera hearing likely to be held after arrival of the foreign secretary, pertaining to the usage of secret funds by Haqqani during his tenure as ambassador to the USZ. During the proceedings, Barrister Zafarullah requested the commission to finalise the report. "The commission is in possession of enough record and it should finalise its report now."

Memogate: Desperate Haqqani Lawyer boycotts Memo Panel

ISLAMABAD - Former Pakistani ambassador to the USZ, handpicked by Washington itself, Hussain Haqqani’s lawyers on Saturday decided to boycott the proceedings of the judicial commission probing into the memo scandal over their determination to do justice. Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bokhari, in a desperate attempt to save his traitor client from the claws of justice said having forensic examination of Mansoor Ijaz’ BlackBerry after the completion of arguments was “against the law”. He said the orders for forensic examination of the handset were issued on March 19, as he asked why the tests were not done till now. “Mansoor Ijaz had the doors for forensic examination shut after handing over his handset”, Bokhari said.

He said Akram Sheikh had admitted that Husain Haqqani was suing Mansoor Ijaz in a USZ court. “Let the case be decided in the USZ court.” Earlier, the judicial commission issued orders for conducting forensic tests on Mansoor Ijaz’ BlackBerry phone in London. Secretary for the memo commission Raja Jawad Abbas had been directed to go to London in this regard. Zahid Bokhari summed up his arguments where he told the court that Ijaz was of “dubious character” and had not been able to back up his statements with proof. Mansoor Ijaz, through his counsel had said that he was ready to present his BlackBerry handset and computer to the secretary of the commission for inspection; however, any inspection would take place in London.

The commission concluded its proceedings after hearing final arguments from Advocate Bukhari, Advocate Akram Sheikh, Advocate Naseer Bhutta and deputy attorney general Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri on Friday. Advocate Bukhari strongly objected to the commission’s proposal for forensic verification on Friday and said no evidence could be ascertained once the arguments were complete. Bukhari argued before the commission that the commission was trying to penalise his client at any cost. When asked why the Pakistan’s former ambassador had relations with a man of doubtful character, Advocate Bukhari submitted that an ambassador was duty bound to watch his country’s interests. “In the line of his duty, he also meets with some notorious people”, Bukhari said.

The commission said Haqqani had been having relationships with Ijaz not during his three and a half years tenure as an ambassador but he was having relations with him for the last 10 years much prior to his appointment as an ambassador.

Memogate: Traitor on the run; Panel to conclude without Haqqani's statement

ISLAMABAD - Contrary to earlier assertions, the Judicial Commission, probing the memogate scam, passed no orders or stricture against Husain Haqqani for not appearing in person to record his testimony. Resuming the hearing on Thursday at Islamabad High Court, the Commission expressed its anger over Haqqani’s behaviour; however, it issued no warrant after it became clear it would not be implemented by any foreign country. The Commission also did not order attachment of Haqqani’s property. Haqqani’s lawyer, Zahid Bukhari told the court that his client was receiving serious threats from some quarters and it was not possible for him to come back. Bukhari also mentioned his client’s health problems, which were among major hurdles in the way to Haqqani’s travelling to Pakistan.

However, Commission’s head Justice Qazi Faez Essa confronted Haqqani’s lawyer and said if a large number of lawyers from across the globe can come to Pakistan to attend a conference, which means they had no security concern, then Haqqani could come too. “A large number of lawyers and legal experts came to Pakistan to attend a judicial conference. They had no safety concerns. How can Husain Haqqani, the national of this country, refuse to travel to his homeland citing security concerns? It’s amazing! Isn’t it?”, Justice Qazi said. On Thursday, revealing the ridiculous details of Haqqani’s property, Zahid Bukhari told the Commission that his multi-billionaire client has a bank account having only Rs. 0.15 Million, expecting the Pakistanis to buy into this rubbish.

Zahid Bukhari told the Commission that his client was "afraid" of losing his life as local agencies were hostile against him, therefore Commission should not put his life in danger by asking him to appear in person. He didn't say that his client was afraid of facing treason charges face to face because he was guilty. ‘Please do not put my client’s life in danger by asking him to appear before the Commission in person. Commission can record his testimony though a video link from Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington’, Bukhari said. Analysts believe the Commission will now reach conclusions without Haqqani’s statement - an option that Haqqani’s lawyer had presented several times during the past three hearings.

Memogate: What's next?

Former ISI Chief Lieutenant General Shuja Pasha recently appeared before the Memogate Commission and recorded his testimony. He told the Commission that on the direction of Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, he had met Mansoor Ijaz in the Pearl Continental Hotel, London, on October 22, 2011. The meeting continued for four hours.

The former ISI chief reiterated that he had briefed both the army chief and the president on the meeting — General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on October 24th last year and President Asif Ali Zardari on November 13.

General Pasha also said he had seen the 35 BlackBerry messages (BBM) between Ijaz and Husain Haqqani during his meeting with the former.

Concerning the issue, one can faithfully deduce the following observations from General Pasha’s appearance and statement before the Commission.

In the context of current events, it gives one an idea that the ex-ISI chief was committed to the affidavit he had submitted earlier and had not wavered from his principled stance. In other words, he did not give any statement that was contradictory to the affidavit.

Significantly, it was categorically rebutted by General Pasha that a coup was planned by the army following the May 2 development in Abbottabad. “The ISI knows about any revolt in advance, and there was no plan of a coup attempt following this incident,” he was quoted as saying in his statement. This is a very important declaration coming from the top spymaster as the memogate was reportedly based on coup rumours.

Moreover, Pasha’s appearance in the court confirmed the army chief’s pledge that armed forces will respect the rule of law without interfering in government affairs.

At the same time, Pasha showed his dissatisfaction before the Commission over the reply given by the ex-envoy to the US. This demonstrates that the army would like the other party to be as forthcoming as the national security institution was before the Commission and contest any parallel version of legitimacy and truth.

Moreover, General Pasha’s appearance also proved that the army still takes the memo issue very seriously despite efforts by some quarters that continue to downplay the importance of the memo for the armed forces and the national security. It is vital to remember that the concerned memo is not about feeding a myth and buying into a propaganda scam. As far as the national security institutions are concerned, there is no doubt about its veracity.

Memogate: Ijaz slams Haqqani's deception of contacting RIM

Mansoor Ijaz, a key respondent in the Memogate scandal, has questioned former ambassador to USZ and an alleged covert operative of NWO, Husain Haqqani’s claim of requesting Research In Motion (RIM) for his BlackBerry data. Ijaz, in an email, revealed that to file a proper RIM waiver consent form, Haqqani needs to submit the PIN codes and the IMEI numbers of his BlackBerry phones, but Haqqani had told the judicial commission that he lost one of his phone, which is contradictory. He added that it was impossible for RIM to give him data on the basis of his phone number and the company had “already stated that they do not generally keep record logs of communications between various PINs more than 3 months, and in extreme, not beyond six months.”

Earlier during the day, Haqqani’s lawyer Zahid Bukhari had told a private channel that Haqqani had sent a so-called letter to RIM in order to receive his BlackBerry data. He added that the step was "taken" in accordance with the orders of the judicial commission probing the scandal. “Haqqani has given complete authority to RIM to email the data either to Haqqani or to my email account, so I can present it to the commission after seeing it through. They have a law that they do not share their data with any third party whether it is a court or anyone else. Therefore, we have emailed the request according to the order”, said Bukhari.

Memogate: Judicial Commission gives Last Chance to Haqqani

The Supreme Court of Pakistan

The Memogate Judicial Commission on Friday ordered Hussain Haqqani, the former stooge Pakistan ambassador to the USZ and an alleged operative of the New World Order, to appear before it on April 12 to record his testimony. It directed the foreign affairs and interior ministries to ensure Haqqani’s presence on the date specified. Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari had earlier requested the commission to record his statement at Pakistan’s High Commission in London citing security concerns. A three-member commission on Friday issued a notice to Haqqani once again asking him to appear before the commission along with the Blackberry handset through which he communicated with the scandal’s central character Mansoor Ijaz. Bukhari, however, reiterated that his client had no qualms about appearing before the commission, but could not do so because of the security threats baloney.

The commission, headed by Justice Qazi Faez Isa, directed Haqqani to write a letter to Blackberry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) within 24 hours for a waiver of security. That would mean Haqqani forsaking the privacy clauses which prevent RIM from disclosing its users’ information. Bukhari informed the court that RIM did not keep records older than 90 days. However, Justice Mushir Alam said the commission had made it clear that Haqqani had to write the letter regardless. Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq, who had earlier asked the Supreme Court to let Haqqani leave the country, saying that he would ensure the latter’s presence whenever needed, said: “We (government) are ready to implement the orders of the commission.”

Justice Isa, however, remained unimpressed. “What message are we sending to the world when a former ambassador refuses to come home to record his statement? Is this the credibility of the government that it cannot make former diplomats appear before the commission?” On Justice Isa’s request to assist the commission, Advocate S M Zafar suggested that Haqqani should be summoned through the interior ministry before any action is taken against him. Contrary to Zafar’s advice, attorneys Mustafa Ramday, Akram Sheikh and Salahuddin Mengal suggested that the commission take stringent action against Haqqani including issuing an arrest warrant, filing a criminal case or initiating a contempt of court case against him. These suggestions, however, were turned down by the commission.

Memogate: Tail Tucked Between Legs, Haqqani runs from Judicial Commission again

Alleged traitor of Pakistan and one of the most high profile operatives of New World Order in south Asia, Husain Haqqani has excused himself from appearing before the judicial commission for the Memogate scandal hearing that was to be held on April 5, private news channels reported today. Haqqani’s lawyer, Zahid Bukhari filed a request claiming that his client had to undergo some “tests” in USZ which are obviously more important than Pakisan's sovereignty, and would therefore be unable to appear before the commission.

Earlier, the judicial commission probing the Memogate scandal issued notices to respondents in the case to appear before the commission on April 5. The commission had before that asked the Supreme Court to extend the deadline till March 31, so Haqqani could appear before the bench. However, the court’s deadline to decide whether Haqqani could appear before the commission via a video link passed, so it set a new date for Haqqani’s appearance. On March 29, the apex court extended the term of the judicial commission for another six weeks. It observed that though the commission’s probe is of high importance, it should conclude soon. It is quite obvious to those who have been monitoring court's proceedings regularly that Hussain Haqqani has not even once been able so far to prove Mansoor Ijaz wrong based upon facts. All facts point against him and the American stooge regime of Pakistan.

According to sources, whatever was published or broadcast against Pakistan's Army and the Inter-services Intelligence in the American media in recent days, Hussain Haqqani and his wife Farahnas Ispahani are involved behind all of it. Sources say that Pakistan's ruling circles have obtained all necessary details about Haqqani's 'mysterious' activities in the United States of Zionism and are also thoroughly investigating the massive contracts worth millions of dollars which are being awarded to Hussain Haqqani's firms.

Memogate: Haqqani summoned in Islamabad on March 26; plea to appear via video-link rejected

ISLAMABAD – The commission probing the memogate scandal has directed Husain Haqqani to appear before the three-member team of judges on March 26 in Islamabad to record his statement. During Sunday’s proceedings, the commission rejected a request from Haqqani’s lawyer that the commission record his client’s statement from London via video-link. “Haqqani has already assured the apex court that he will appear before the judicial commission on a short notice of four days. So, he will have to appear before the commission in Islamabad,” head of commission Qazi Faez Isa said.

During the hearing, an interesting situation developed when Mansoor Ijaz’s counsel objected to his client’s cross-examination by Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq. “Since the attorney general is representing the government, ISI DG and army, so he cannot cross examine my client,” Akram Sheikh claimed during the proceedings. The attorney general argued that he was appearing before the commission on the directives of the Supreme Court. Rejecting Sheikh’s objection, the commission allowed the attorney general to question the prime witness in the scandal. “Attorney General is here to assist us. He has the right to cross-examine Mansoor Ijaz,” Qazi Faez Isa said. The commission stated that if the AG asked irrelevant questions then Sheikh had the right to object.

The attorney general asked Ijaz if he has been writing for some US based news organisations. “Yes, I have been writing for CNN at some occasions, particularly on Eid festival,” he replied. To another query, he said he had met President Asif Zardari in Washington on May 5, 2009 in New York. The AG completed cross-examining Ijaz and the hearing was put off.

ISLAMABAD: Mansoor Ijaz, the man whose revelations see no end, has submitted before the Justice Qazi Isa Commission evidence of yet another startling “memo”, which shows Husain Haqqani attacking Pakistan’s nuclear programme. “Selling nuclear technology beyond its borders became possible only because control of Pakistan’s nuclear programme was in the hands of extremist ideologues, which have escaped domestic accountability for years. By allowing Pakistan’s military and intelligence services to escape international accountability as well, the Bush administration has emboldened Pakistan’s extremists,” reads an article that was written by Husain Haqqani and Mansoor Ijaz for Washington Post and other US papers, which refused publish it. The article also reprimanded former US administration for overlooking the development of Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

It was demanded through the same article that the international community needs to uncover the full extent of the damage caused by Pakistan’s rogue nuclear proliferators. “Full disclosure from Pakistani files is needed about other countries or non-state actors - including terrorist groups - that may have obtained or sought the intricate blueprints and materials needed to make nuclear weapons, or more readily assembled and deployable radiological ‘dirty’ bombs. As last week’s railway terrorist bombings and subsequent electoral loss of the ruling party in Spain show, placing bombs - possibly even radiological bombs - in places frequented by civilians remains straightforward for terrorist consortiums, now with stunningly effective political results.” The e-mail exchanges between Husain Haqqani, Mansoor Ijaz and the Washington Post show HH having being the lead author besides making efforts to get the article published in US newspapers. For a joint byline, HH wrote to MI: “I thought we need to add that you’re an American and I’m a Pakistani, to make the point that this is a joint piece of a Paki-American duo.”

MI submitted before the commission all these emails record after he was accused by HH’s counsel for having being against Pakistan’s nuclear programme. Neither HH nor his counsel contradicted this evidence, whose very reading is mind boggling for a Pakistani. The unpublished article reflected on the thinking of the two writers - one of whom was a Pakistani and later made the ambassador of Pakistan to Washington whereas the latter is a born US citizen.


Before this, Husain Haqqani has inadvertently boxed himself by implicitly admitting that he spoke to Mansoor Ijaz for about 16 minutes on May 9 at 12:35. On Saturday, Mansoor Ijaz jumped on this admission with bravado and claimed that this admission before the judicial commission proves his point in its entirety. That call was made from Mansoor Ijaz’s phone to Haqqani’s hotel in London. Speaking to media here, Ijaz said: “Haqqani was Pakistan’s ambassador to America at that time, there was no way for me to find where he was, when, in which room, at what precise time before that particular date because as Pakistan’s ambassador to the USA, his itineraries were being kept a secret and he was not just available for everyone other than the only trusted people.

The only way I could have known about this all - which I did - was through the Blackberry Message (BBM) chats.” Ijaz said Haqqani by admission has accepted that those and the BBM chats are a reality. “BBM chats are an entire stream; you can’t take one and replace with the other. Haqqani has admitted that BBM chats are authentic.” It is believed that judges at the judicial commission will admit all the BBM chats into evidence very soon. No one in the Haqqani legal team had any idea that Mansoor Ijaz will dig out nearly eight years old email with convincing back and forth trail between himself, Haqqani and editors of the US newspapers. In that article, which was never published by any publication but was jointly authored by Haqqani and Ijaz, the duo had attempted to pitch a joint article highly critical of Pakistan Army, calling for sanctions on the country as well as opening up its nuclear facilities for transparent controls.

The surfacing of the article, the copies of which Mansoor Ijaz distributed to media persons here happily, dealt a blow also to Haqqani’s claim that he knew Mansoor Ijaz only in passing references and never took him seriously. He also produced an email in which he gave a reference to General Jones about Haqqani describing him as someone who “plays all sides against the middle, always insuring he is standing in the middle”, “certainly has the ear of Zardari for all that he did for their family when Benazir was living in exile and Zardari was in prison”. However, Ijaz wrote, Haqqani “doesn’t have the ear of anyone in the military or intelligence establishment” and further added: “They, simply put, don’t trust him,” also recommending that Haqqani should not be used as a “communications channel for the most sensitive issues”. In the same email, Ijaz advised Jones to build relations with the second and their tier military generals that are ascending the ladder.”

Memogate: I have Swiss Bank Account details of BB, Zardari: Ijaz

LONDON - Mansoor Ijaz has claimed that he holds details of President Asif Ali Zardari and his assassinated wife Benazir Bhutto’s bank accounts. A private TV channel reported the key character in memogate scandal as telling the media in London on Friday that things might go bleak for President Zardari if his claims regarding the memo case were proven correct. The American businessman said he had documentary evidence regarding Zardari’s Swiss banks transactions. He said the presidential immunity would be removed if the case against President Zaradri was proven.

Ijaz accused Zardari of being involved in money laundering, and said that the president ‘did not have the guts’ to challenge these allegations. “I have documentary evidence to support my claims,” he said, claiming that he was putting his own life in danger by ‘revealing the truth’. Kaswar Klasra from Islamabad adds: As the judicial commission probing the memogate scandal resumed hearing later in the day at Islamabad High Court, Husain Haqqani’s counsel Zahid Bukhari got annoyed and refused to continue representing Haqqani after being repeatedly interrupted by commission head Qazi Faez Isa for trying to distract the honourable court away from the matter at hand and wasting court's time.

During cross-examination of Ijaz, Justice Isa asked Bukhari to keep focus on the issue rather than concentrating on the articles written by Mansoor Ijaz. “Keep your questions focused on the issue at hand, and do not try to waste the time by asking questions not associated with the issue”. This prompted Bukhari to announce that he would no longer be representing Haqqani under ‘these circumstances’. Justice Isa told Bukhari that if he had a problem with him, the proceedings could still continue in presence of the other two judges. Husain Haqqani later persuaded Zahid Bukhari to continue representing him and Bukhari resumed his Ijaz’s cross-examination. The lawyer argued that May 9 telephone conversation between Ijaz and Haqqani, while Haqqani was in London, was about Ijaz’s anti-Pakistan writings and not about the memo. But, Mansoor Ijaz intercepted Bukhari and termed his claim as a false statement. Zahid Bukhari said, “Your story about the memo is false”. Ijaz insisted he was telling the truth.

Bukhari read several quotations from Ijaz’s articles and transcripts of Mansoor’s appearances on TV after May 2, 2011 in which he accused Pakistan of harbouring Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda. Bukhari said because the memo affair was directly linked to Ijaz’s credibility, he has been focusing on making clear before the commission that the witness was untrustworthy and had hidden motives. During Friday’s proceedings, Bukhari once again asked Ijaz about the nature of his contacts with several spy agencies across the globe. Ijaz maintained he had links with two dozen intelligence agencies around the world but he again refused to identify the countries whose intelligence services were his friends. He also did not agree to explain the nature of his relations with the spy agencies. Ijaz said he introduced Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik to the then deputy chief (later chief) of India’s RAW intelligence agency. “Malik is a liar,” Ijaz told the commission when he was confronted with a statement by the Kashmiri leader saying Ijaz never told him he was meeting the Indian spy chief. He said he was proud of his link with India’s RAW.

Ijaz claimed his relations with intelligence agencies were undertaken as a ‘private citizen of the USZ and he claimed that he paid for his part-time spy work from his own pocket. But Bukhari proceeded to question Ijaz in detail about several shady judgments against him in New York courts that showed him as someone unable to pay his debts. This cast doubt on his status as a tycoon who spends his money for private diplomacy and intelligence contacts. On Friday, Haqqani’s lawyers showed a video of Mansoor Ijaz’s interview with Fox News on May 3 in which he accused the Pakistan Army of protecting bin Laden and building the house in Abbottabad where he lived. Ijaz had also called Zardari a buffoon in that interview and used the term ‘bad guys’ for Pakistanis. However, the head of commission and the rest of members of judicial commission took least interest in the video. Most importantly, Mansoor Ijaz admitted once again that his main evidence against Haqqani comprises BBM messages, which cannot be verified because Blackberry company (RIM) does not retain data after three months.

Memogate: “Phone data confirms Ijaz-Haqqani contacts”: SC Memo Commission

ISLAMABAD – Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who heads the memo commission, has said that telephone records submitted by US businessman confirm contacts between Mansoor Ijaz and Husain Haqqani. As the judicial commission probing the memogate scandal resumed hearing on Thursday, it directed Haqqani’s lawyer to complete cross-questioning Ijaz by Sunday so the commission could finalise its findings in time. Advocate Zahid Bokhari, counsel of former Pakistani Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani, asked Mansoor Ijaz to reveal the names of intelligence agencies whose chiefs had told him (Mansoor) that Pakistan Army was mulling a coup.

“The question is not related to the case, therefore, I am sorry I won’t answer it,” Mansoor replied. However, he said he has been in touch with intelligence agencies of 29 countries but insisted he cannot disclose their names. Ijaz had told the commission on March 2 that he delivered a memo to the former US military chief Admiral Mullen last year because the spy agencies of four countries had told him about the possibility of a military coup in Pakistan after the killing of Osama bin Laden last year. Zahid Bokhari, while cross-examining Ijaz, stated that the US businessman was always against Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities. Ijaz replied that he was against proliferation and not the nuclear programme. He said that though he had written an article alleging Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan of stealing nuclear secrets, he was not inherently against Pakistan’s nuclear programme.

Ijaz also revealed that he had arranged for a meeting between Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik and officials from the Indian spy agency RAW in a matter related to US security. Ijaz refused to provide details. Bokhari requested the commission to seek Ijaz’s passport so it could be examined for entry and exit stamps and the Mansoor Ijaz was told to bring his passport on Friday. According to a private TV channel, as the cross-examination was continuing, Husain Haqqani also arrived at the Pakistani High Commission in London and appeared before the memo commission via video link. Haqqani has so far submitted his telephone records for the months of May, September, October and November 2011, but said he cannot locate his Blackberry handsets and therefore cannot provide them to the commission.

“Husain Haqqani has lost both his Blackberry sim card and handset; therefore, he cannot produce the complete data sought by the commission. However, he will fully cooperate with the commission,” Haqqani’s lawyer told the commission. Haqqani said that despite his earnest and sincere efforts, he had failed to locate his Blackberry handsets. He explained to the commission that any other contact with Mansoor Ijaz through BBM could therefore not be verified, denied or confirmed on account of the non-availability of the relevant data. The commission confirmed the validity of phone bills provided by Ijaz and also opened a sealed envelope of the draft sent by the US businessman. Justice Qazi Faez Isa, who heads the commission, said that this was not a draft but a part of the information. He observed that the telephone records submitted to the commission confirmed contacts between Ijaz and Haqqani. The commission adjourned proceedings until Friday noon.
