Israel Closes Embassies all over the World

All diplomatic missions of Israel, including embassies, consulates and missions to international organizations, as well as the Foreign Ministry itself in Jerusalem, have stopped their work today due to the increase in strike sanctions, the Foreign Ministry trade union representative Yaakov Livne said.

"The sanctions have today been transformed into an all-out strike for the first time in the history of Israel," Livne explained.

Israeli diplomats have been asking the government and the Ministry of Finance to raise their wages for several years now with zero result.

One of the union leaders Yair Frommer accused the Ministry of Finance of "declaring war on diplomatic employees who are struggling day after day, hour after hour, for the future of Israel."

Commenting on the shutdown of the diplomatic missions, Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman pointed out that this decision made by the union "leads to a complete loss of control." He particularly emphasized that during the strike of the FM workers he will personally work to "minimize the damage to the citizens of the country" from the labor conflict it the Foreign Ministry.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan went back on the warpath Aug.20, accusing one of Ankara’s most prominent bogeymen, Israhell, of complicity in overthrowing Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi while telling critics to find dictatorship not in Turkey, but in today’s Egypt.

“Who is behind [the coup]? There is Israhell,” Erdoğan told a meeting of party leaders. “We have document in our hands,” he said, citing an open session between a Jewish intellectual from France and an Israhelli justice minister before the first free elections in Egypt held in March 2011.

As he was delivering multilayered messages concerning both foreign and domestic policy at the meeting, Erdoğan furthermore maintained that those who have been accusing the government of autocratic governance in Turkey should actually look at Egypt, where the coup rulers have been acting dictatorially. “If you want to see a dictator, go ahead, go to Egypt,” he said.

In an apparent reference to moves to topple his government at the time, Erdoğan recalled that Turkey had experienced coup attempts and undemocratic practices. “Here, at this moment, there are those who want to float again the West’s understanding which says ‘Democracy is not the ballot box,’ or ‘Democracy is not only the ballot box.’ But we say that democracy’s path passes through the ballot box and the ballot box itself is the people’s will. At the moment, this is what is being implemented in Egypt.”

“What do they say in Egypt? They say that ‘Democracy is not the ballot box.’”

Erdoğan refers to Bernard-Henri Levy: Claim

A source later told the Associated Press that the evidence on Israhell that Erdoğan was referring to was a video “available on the Internet” of a press conference by Israhelli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni and French philosopher and author Bernard-Henri Levy.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that as far as he knew, that was the only evidence of the claim. A video of the two, dating back to 2011, shows Levy saying: “If the Muslim Brotherhood arrives in Egypt, I will not say democracy wants it, so let democracy progress. Democracy is not only elections, it is also values.”

Pressed further as to whether he would urge Egypt’s military to intervene against the Muslim Brotherhood, Levy said: “I will urge the prevention of them coming to power, but by all sorts of means.”

“‘The Muslim Brotherhood will not be in power even if they win the elections, because democracy is not the ballot box.’ This is what they said at that time,” Erdoğan said.

In Israhell, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Yigal Palmor, said Erdoğan’s comments did not merit a response. “This is a statement well worth not commenting on.” Turkey has been one of the fiercest international critics of what it has called an “unacceptable coup” after the military toppled Morsi last month, lashing out at the West and Arab nations for failing to condemn his ouster.

Touching on the run-up to the upcoming local elections in March 2014, Erdoğan firstly underlined the need for party executives at all level of branches to dedicate themselves to work for the upcoming local elections, instead of focusing on their own political career.

“Thirty metropolitan cities constitute 76 percent. With this aspect, we have to see how important are the votes we will get from these 30 metropolitan cities,” he said, referring to the fact that the number of metropolitan municipalities rose from 16 to 30 after a controversial law on restructuring municipalities was adopted in late 2012 despite strong objection from the opposition parties.

"Morsi is Still My President of Egypt", says Turkish PM Erdoğan

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated that he considers Mohammed Morsi, who was ousted by the military in early July, to be the president of Egypt.

“Currently, my president in Egypt is Morsi because he was elected by the people. Therefore, if we don't consider the situation like this, we would disregard the people of Egypt. Disregarding the will of the Egyptian people means disregarding yourself because in Turkey we respect the will of the people. We would respect the coup regime if they had won at the ballot box,” said Erdoğan at a fast-breaking dinner.

Stating that it is not the duty of the army to govern the country, Erdoğan underlined that the sole role of an army is to protect a country's borders.

“Why is there a ballot box? From the results of the box, a government would emerge through the will of the people and that government would govern the country. That government may be successful or not. If the government stops being successful, then the ballot box will come to the fore. When it comes to the fore, then you can say that the government has failed,” said Erdoğan.

Erdoğan underlined that some foreign countries did not financially support the Morsi government during his one-year presidency; however, the same countries have pledged to provide $16 billion to the coup regime in Egypt.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Kuwait have provided a total amount of $12 billion to Egypt following the recent struggles in the country.

Erdoğan, who strongly criticized the Egyptian military for ousting a democratically elected leader, reiterated that Turkey had suffered dire consequences from coups in the past and does not want to see the Egyptian people experience the negative effects of a coup.

“Our heart is beating with the Egyptian people. It is beating with those in Tahrir Square as well as those in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square [a square near the presidential palace in the Egyptian capital where supporters of Morsi stage their gatherings]. I believe that those in Tahrir Square do not know the reality. The moment they learn the reality, they will join their brothers in Adawiya,” said Erdoğan.

Last week, Erdoğan dismissed claims that Turkey is positioning itself against the current revolution because his government was an ally of Morsi. He said that they would have held the same position if the coup had been staged against those demanding Morsi's resignation.

Referring to the Gezi demonstrations, which began at the end of May in protest of government plans for the redevelopment of Gezi Park in İstanbul's Taksim Square and turned to nation-wide anti-government protests, Erdoğan maintained that there the incidents in Egypt and Turkey were not dissimilar.



“The origin of the incidents in both countries is the same. I will declare what that origin is when the time comes. It is saved in our memory cards,” said Erdoğan.

Turkey described the Egyptian army's overthrow of Morsi as an "unacceptable coup," in response to last week's military intervention. This response to the coup in Egypt was seen as the strongest reaction from overseas.

Known for its close relationship with members of Morsi's moderate Islamist party, the Freedom and Justice Party, officials from Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) declared their support for Morsi and denounced the overthrow of the Egyptian president, trying to convince other countries to step up pressure on Egypt.

The Turkish prime minister also continued to criticize Western countries for not calling the military intervention in Egypt a “coup.”

Except for Turkey and a few other countries, Erdoğan previously noted, the international community failed to call the “coup” a “coup” and did not endorse the democratic process in the North African country.

Turkey has also called on the European Union and international institutions, including the UN and the Arab League, and on other countries to step up pressure on Egypt to respect and protect democracy.

In an indication of the strain in diplomatic ties between Egypt and Turkey, Egypt has summoned the Turkish ambassador to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry last week.

Israhelli army moves up to Lebanon Border

The Israhelli military has moved resources and personnel up to the border with Lebanon, installing a barbed wire fence near the occupied Shebaa Farms area on Jabal Al-Shaikh (Mount Hermon).

According to a Lebanese security source in Beirut, the Israhellis have also sent pilotless drones as well as manned aircraft over Southern Lebanon, including the Beqaa Valley.

The source added that several artillery shells were fired from the eastern edge of the occupied Shebaa Farms. No casualties were reported.

Israhell threatens to attack Russian Ships over Syrian Support

Israhell’s long-standing habit of making bellicose threats in the face of neighbors potentially acquiring defensive weapons has reached a new level today, with Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon threatening to attack Russian ships in the Mediterranean if they attempt to deliver anti-aircraft weapons to Syria.

Russia has had a long-standing contract with Syria to provide anti-aircraft defensive systems, and the Assad government is keen to get those shipments completed in the wake of repeated Israhelli air strikes against them. The Russian S-300 system, the best the Russian government sells, is seen as being able to foil Israhelli attacks.

Israhell has struggled to justify its opposition to the deliveries, making ridiculous predictions of a dystopian future in which the whole region is a no-fly zone because Syria is attacking random planes for no reason. Syria’s existing arsenal would be able to do this at any rate, and it doesn’t. The obvious reason for acquiring the S-300 is to stop the Israhelli attacks, and that’s also the obvious reason for Israhelli opposition. It’s just not likely to convince the Russians.

A similar round of Israhelli rhetoric was seen over several years related to Iran, with Israhelli officials first claiming they had super-secret electronics that would render all S-300′s useless worldwide and render Russian airspace defenseless. They later revised that claim and insisted those defensive weapons were an “existential threat” to Israhell. After that didn’t work either, they threatened massive retaliatory arms sales to “Russia’s enemies.”

The question of the latest threats is just how desperately Israhell wants to keep its overwhelming military superiority over the entire region, and whether the prospect of one of its would-be victims acquiring defensive equipment is such a threat to their long-term strategy that it warrants risking a war with Russia. Logic would suggest it doesn’t.

Russia warns of counter attack on Israhell in case of more attacks on Syria

Israhelli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, while in Shanghai, was given a sharp dressing-down by Russian President Vladimir Putin, a warning that Russia would not tolerate further Israhelli attacks on Damascus and would respond. Putin did not say how, but he did announce he had ordered the acceleration of highly advanced Russian weapons supplies to Syria. Israhelli Debkafile’s military sources disclosed that the Russian leader was referring to S-300 anti-air systems and the nuclear-capable 9K720 Iskander (NATO named SS-26 Stone) surface missiles, which are precise enough to hit a target within a 5-7 meter radius at a distance of 280 kilometers.

In his phone call to Netanyahu, the Russian leader advised the prime minister to make sure to keep this in mind. Since Syrian air defense teams have already trained in Russia on the handling of the S-300 interceptor batteries, they can go into service as soon as they are landed by one of Russia’s daily airlifts to Syria. Russian air defense officials will supervise their deployment and prepare them for operation. Moscow is retaliating not just for Israhell’s air operations against Syria but in anticipation of the Obama administration’s impending decision to send the first US arms shipments to the Syrian rebels.

Intelligence agencies in Moscow and the Middle-East take it for granted that by the time Washington goes public on this decision, some of the Syrian rebel factions will already be armed with American weapons. That the measure was in the works was signified by the introduction Monday by chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Bob Menendez of legislation allowing the US to provide arms and military training to the Syrian rebels. US military instructors have been working with Syrian rebels at training camps in Jordan and Turkey for some months. So putting the arms in their hands only awaited a decision in Washington, the Israhelli website alleged.

Putin’s message to Netanyahu was intended to reach a wider audience than Jerusalem, such as Barack Obama in Washington and President Xi Jinping in Beijing ahead of Netanyahu’s talks there Tuesday.

Israhell used Depleted Uranium in air strikes on Syria - Report

A senior Syrian official says Israel has used depleted uranium in its recent airstrike against the Jamraya Research Center in the outskirts of Damascus. The official, who was present near the attack site on Sunday morning, told Russia Today that Israel used “a new type of weapon” during the airstrike. “When the explosion happened, it felt like an earthquake,” the official, asked not to be named, added. “Then a giant golden mushroom of fire appeared. This tells us that Israel used depleted uranium shells,” the Syrian official said.

“Several civilian factories and buildings were destroyed. The target was just an ordinary weapons warehouse. The bombing is an ultimatum to us,” he added. The Syrian official also refuted the claims by Western intelligence sources that the airstrike targeted transfers of weapons from the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah to Syria. Jamraya Research Center had been targeted by another Israeli airstrike back in January. The Sunday attack came shortly after Tel Aviv confirmed that its warplanes had hit another target in Syria on Friday.

On Saturday, US President Barack Obama said the Israeli regime has the right to launch airstrikes on Syria. Syria’s Foreign Ministry has sent letters to the United Nations and its Security Council stating that Israel’s aggression shows the link between Tel Aviv and terrorist groups operating in Syria including the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front.Meanwhile, the anti-Syria countries including Turkey and several Arab states in the region have taken a silent stance on Tel Aviv’s acts of aggression against Syria.

Israhell Plans Attack To Create And Occupy 10 Mile "Buffer Zone" Inside Syria

ISRAEL is considering creating a buffer zone reaching up to 10 miles inside Syria to protect itself from fundamentalist rebels on the other side of the border.

The proposal, which has been drawn up by the military and presented to Binyamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, is intended to secure the 47-mile border against a growing Islamist threat if President Bashar al-Assad’s embattled regime loses control of the area.

The buffer would be modelled on the Lebanese security zone, in which the Israeli defence forces patrolled jointly with the South Lebanon army, a militia, up to 16 miles inside Lebanon from 1985 to 2000.

“We’ve presented the prime minister with a comprehensive plan to defend Israel’s border after, or perhaps before, the fall of Assad’s regime,” said a source close to the military planners.

“A buffer zone set up with the co-operation of local villagers lies at the heart of the plan. If the country remains unstable we might have to stay there for years.”

In recent months jihadist groups such as the Nusra Front, which Washington regards as a terrorist organisation linked to al-Qaeda, are reported to have infiltrated several border villages. Two of the villages, Breika and Bir Ajam, are less than a mile from the Israeli border.

Netanyahu, who visited Israeli outposts overlooking the rebel villages last month, watched construction workers erect a 20ft steel wall along the border to replace a rickety fence.

“The old fence was fine for more than 40 years,” said the military source. “We knew then that there was a strongman in Damascus. But not any more. The new wall will be good when it’s ready but without the buffer zone mortar and rocket attacks on Israel would be a daily event.

Major-General Aviv Kokhavi, the head of Israeli military intelligence, visited Washington shortly before the raid and talked to colleagues in the Pentagon and CIA. At the same time Yaakov Amidror, Netanyahu’s head of national security, visited Moscow to brief Russian officials, who are among Assad’s closest allies.

No mention was made of a specific target but the Russians were warned that Israel would not tolerate any Russian weapons falling into the hands of Hezbollah.

Until now, Israel has been careful not to interfere directly in the Syrian conflict. But there are increasing fears that Iran is attempting to retain its influence in the country in the event that Assad falls.

The Sunday Times has learnt that a heavily fortified Iranian signal intelligence facility near Dara’a, about seven miles from the Israeli border, is among the Israelis’ future targets.

“The Iranians are still major players in Syria,” said the military source. “They’ve a defence pact with Assad and for the past two years they’ve been trying to help him. But they know he’s doomed and want to win as much lasting influence as possible before he goes.”

The Iranian monitoring station is just 10 miles from a similar Israeli facility in Har Avital.

“We know they are monitoring our army communication, gathering intelligence and trying to log into our military computers,” said the source. “This is a serious problem for our forces.”

There is growing awareness in the Israeli military that the collapse of the Syrian regime could suck the Jewish state into a long-term commitment in Syria.

“Israel will miss the Assads,” said a veteran intelligence source. In a reference to the mountain range that divides Syria from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights he added: “The Assads, father and son, were very nasty people. But with them, we knew that a promise was a promise, and an agreement was solid as the boulders of Mount Hermon.”

Democracy Now reports today that all 6 former chiefs of Shin Bet – the agency responsible for Israel’s internal security, with the combined powers of an FBI and CIA – have criticized Israeli treatment of the Palestinians:

The stunning Oscar-nominated documentary, “The Gatekeepers” …  brings together six former heads of Israel’s internal security agency, the Shin Bet, collectively speaking out for the first time ever. They detail their methods against Palestinian militants and civilians in the Occupied Territories, including targeted killings, torture, recruiting informants, and the suppression of mass protests during two intifadas. But in doing so, they also criticize the occupation they were assigned with defending and warn that successive Israeli governments have endangered their country’s future by refusing to make peace. “We are making the lives of millions unbearable, into prolonged human suffering, [and] it kills me,” Carmi Gillon says in the film. “[We’ve become] a brutal occupation force similar to the Germans in World War II,” adds Avraham Shalom ….

He was almost beaten to death by his classmates. He felt firsthand what it means to be a Jew under a racist regime. And when he compares that, he compares the Israeli occupation to the Germans, that—like how the Germans treated the Poles, the Czechs, the Dutch, he knows what he speaks about. And I think that his worry is something that had resonance in me, as well, about what—where will it lead, the occupation—I mean, if it will continue like that.

Israhelli Airstrike on 'Syrian Research Center’

The Syrian Army says two people have been killed and five others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a scientific research center in Jamraya, near the capital Damascus.

"Israeli fighter jets violated our airspace at dawn today and carried out a direct strike on a scientific research center in charge of raising our level of resistance and self-defence," the Syrian Army said in a statement on Wednesday, AFP reported.

The attack was carried out against the center, which was tasked with boosting Syria’s resistance and self-defense, "after terrorist groups made several failed attempts in the past months to take control of the site.

"This assault is one of a long list of acts of aggression and criminality against the Arabs and Muslims," the statement added.

"They... carried out an act of aggression, bombarding the site, causing large-scale material damage and destroying the building," the army said.

The Israeli regime claimed earlier that it had targeted a convoy of chemical weapons in Syria.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed in the violence.

The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants fighting the Syrian government are foreign nationals.

And several international human rights organizations have accused the foreign-sponsored militants of committing war crimes.

Israhell Attacks Lebanon: 12 Israhelli Fighter Jets Enter Lebanese Air Space

Lebanon’s Naharnet news site said 12 Israeli fighter jets entered Lebanese air space in the last 24 hours. Flights overflew the Beka Valley.On Saturday, Lebanon’s Al-Mustaqbal daily said a southern weapons storage facility was struck. No official confirmation followed.

Lebanon’s Daily Star headlined “Israel hits target in Lebanon-Syria border area – sources,” saying:

According to four unnamed Western diplomats and regional security sources, “Israeli forces attacked a convoy on the Syrian-Lebanese border overnight.”

Little further information followed. Israel warned earlier about “high-tech anti-aircraft and anti-tank missiles reaching Israel’s enemies.” Chemical weapons concerns were raised.

Lebanese military sources reported multiple Israeli incursions into Lebanon’s airspace overnight.

According to one source:

“There was definitely a hit in the border area.” Without elaborating, he said “something happened.”

Another said “The Israeli air force blew up a convoy which had just crossed the border from Syria into Lebanon.”

An IDF spokeswoman said “We do not comment on reports of this kind.”

France’s Le Figaro said Israeli aircraft attacked an alleged weapons convoy traveling from Syria to Lebanon. It’s not clear if it occurred in Syrian or Lebanese territory.

On Sunday, Israeli Vice Premier Silvan Shalom said “The entire world has said more than once that it takes developments in Syria very seriously.”

Negative developments would have to be addressed, he added.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said Israel won’t “compromise on the security of the northern front.”

On January 29, Al-Monitor said IDF intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi traveled to Washington to meet US Pentagon officials. Whether doing so is connected to Israel’s attack isn’t clear.

Netanyahu held recent security meetings. Discussions focused on Syrian and Lebanese issues. Cabinet members were told:

“It is necessary to look at our surroundings, both at what is happening with Iran and its proxies, and what is happening in other arenas – lethal weaponry in Syria, which is steadily breaking up.”

Israel Air Force commander, Major General Amir Eshel, said Syria is “falling apart. Nobody has any idea right now what is going to happen in Syria on the day after, and how the country is going to look.”

“This is happening in a place with a huge weapons arsenal, some of which are new and advanced, and some of which are not conventional.”

On January 20, Mossad-connected DEBKAfile said “Israeli aircraft target(ed) Hizbollah missiles in Zabadani. S. Syria.”

 

Israeli aircraft struck “missile and arms convoys standing ready in southern Syria for transfer to Hizbollah in Lebanon, according to Western sources.”

On Sunday, Israel deployed two Iron Dome missile defense systems. They’re stationed on Israel’s Golan border. Their effectiveness is way overblown.

UN observers monitoring Syria’s border with Israel were withdrawn. At issue is why. Netanyahu’s stoking fear. He does it repeatedly on Iran. Whether he’s got something else in mind now bears close watching.

Explosion at Fordow: Israhell's Propaganda or Iran’s biggest secret?

Contradictory reports of an explosion at Iran’s uranium enrichment site have been emerging. Iran denies it ever happened, calling it “Western propaganda” while Israel confirms it, putting tensions around upcoming nuclear talks.

Reports of the explosion at the underground Fordow plant, near the city of Qom, central-northern Iran, originally surfaced on Friday after a former Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Reza Kahlili, published his report on the WND.com website.

Iran has denied the reports, while Israel and some of US media reported that the explosion occurred and caused significant damage.

The West has maintained that the Fordow plant (which was discovered in 2009) has been producing uranium enriched to 20 per cent fissile purity since late 2011, compared to the 3.5 per cent level required for nuclear energy plants, and has been operating 700 centrifuges there since the start of the year.

‘Sabotage’ and ‘propaganda’

Iran has accused Israel and the US of trying to influence upcoming nuclear negotiations due to happen in coming weeks.

"The false news of an explosion at Fordow is Western propaganda ahead of nuclear negotiations to influence their process and outcome," Reuters quoted the deputy head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, Saeed Shamseddin Bar Broudi, as saying.

While Israeli intelligence has confirmed that the explosion occurred and caused serious damage, but the area had not been evacuated, The Sunday Times reported.

Israel is still in the "preliminary stages of understanding what happened and how significant it is," the UK newspaper quoted one official as saying. It is still unclear whether the explosion was “sabotage or an accident”.

Another source within Israeli intelligence has confirmed the same to The Times of London.

“Israel believes the Iranians have not evacuated the surrounding area. It is unclear whether that is because no harmful substances have been released, or because Tehran is trying to avoid sparking panic among residents,” the source said.

Initial report

The first to report about the explosion was Reza Kahlili for WND.com. The explosion “destroyed much of the installation and trapped about 240 personnel deep underground” including scientists and workers, many of whom are foreign nationals, Kahlili wrote.

The report cites a “source in the security forces protecting Fordow,” who states that the explosion occurred last Monday and that the plant itself is located inside a mountain to protect it from aerial attacks.

“The blast shook facilities within a radius of three miles. Security forces have enforced a no-traffic radius of 15 miles, and the Tehran-Qom highway was shut down for several hours after the blast,” the report said.

The emergency exits have collapsed at the site and regime fears more loss of life due to possible radiation.

On Monday, Kahlili, speaking to the Jerusalem Post, confirmed that the explosion could have been very damaging in terms of radiation leaks.

"This is the center of the Iranian nuclear program. It's essential for the regime, its activities, and its nuclear program. If such a blow was given to Fordow, it definitely harms [Iran] drastically. They were reaching for 20 per cent uranium enrichment, and were increasing output," he added.

Kahlili believes that the alleged explosion will be “receiving more coverage in the US” and that "more information" will become available to verify the incident.

But the credibility of the report has not been confirmed by most of the international media.

And the main problem with it remains that there are no supporting evidence to confirm it, according to Haaretz.

Credibility questioned

The objectivity of the report’s author has been called into question. Kahlili worked for CIA in the 1980s while living in Iran, collecting information, then in a few years he was moved to the US with his family.

“Kahlili himself is a frequent speaker at events in US organized by right-wing organizations and those that support the right in Israel … He also compared the regime in Tehran to that of the Nazis, and called upon Israel to bomb Iran's nuclear installations”, Haaretz journalist Anshel Pfeffer reported.

Right now he makes his living writing books and giving lectures on Iran. Kahlili claims “to still have an impressive network of sources in various government agencies.”

He has never revealed his face, citing fear of retribution as the reason, appearing always in a baseball cap, dark glasses and a surgical mask.

“His employment by the CIA has been confirmed by agency sources and an approving review of his book [A Time to Betray] even appeared on the CIA website,” added Pfeffer.

It has also been pointed out by the media that if the explosion did indeed occur, why were there no satellite photos of emergency vehicles and rescue operations afterwards and no affected relatives speaking out.

Israel involved?

There had been reports of sightings of Israeli aircraft near the facility at the time of the explosion, which Israel has denied, the Sunday Times reported.

Israel’s acting defense minister on Sunday said the news of the explosion is “welcomed” and that any deterrence to Iran’s nuclear program is good news.

However, it has been argued that Israel lacks the capability to penetrate the Fordow site and could not be involved, while the US on the other hand possesses the necessary military technology.

“There have been many references to the fact that Israel doesn’t have strong enough bombs to penetrate [Fordow] from the air, but the US MOP [massive ordnance penetrator] is reported to be able to penetrate it,” Emily Landau, director of the Arms Control and Regional Security Project at the Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies, told the Jerusalem Post, adding that America’s MOP is operational.

The complete shutdown of the Fordow plant was one of the three demands made by the P5+1 Nations (the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany) on Iran during nuclear talks, which ended last year after officials from the Islamic Republic refused to negotiate.

The West has been concerned that Iran is working towards developing a nuclear weapon. While Iran has maintained its program is peaceful and that it needs to produce highly-enriched uranium for medical use.

Israhell’s comatose Sharon for more than 6 years shows brain activity

A team of Israhelli and USZ scientists say new tests on comatose former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon show significant brain activity.

Ben-Gurion University on Sunday said Sharon responded to external stimuli at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.

He was shown pictures of his family and listened to recordings of his son’s voice while undergoing a special brain imaging scan. The university said “significant brain activity was observed ... indicating appropriate processing of these stimulations.”

However, Sharon remains in a deep coma.

Sharon, 84, led Israel from 2001 until suffering a stroke in 2006. Since then, he has been in a vegetative state, connected to a respirator.

Sharon was a military officer who fought in three wars before entering politics. He unilaterally withdrew Israhelli troops and colonists from Gaza in 2005 as part of a ‘disengagement’ plan, which did not however end the occupation of the territory.

Reviled in the Arab world as the ‘Butcher of Beirut’ for his brutal and barbaric role in the massacre of Palestinian civilians in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps during Israhell’s invasion of Lebanon in 1982, Sharon was made to resign as defence minister after being found to share responsibility in the massacre.

He is also seen as responsible for triggering the Second Palestinian Intifada (uprising) which saw thousands of Palestinians killed at the hands of Israhell.

His son Gilad Sharon recently caused international controversy for suggesting that Israhell should “flatten Gaza” during its assault on the territory last November.

Gilad claimed recently that he can communicate with his father by gestures and eye movements, according to media reports.
