Indian Missile Akash Fails; Falls Down after Launch

BALASORE: Misfortune struck the Akash missile project once again during a user specific trial from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the Odisha coast on Monday. The missile reportedly fell down immediately after taking off from the road mobile launcher causing embarrassment for the DRDO. It was the missile’s third trial of the six-trial series.

Sources said the Indian Armed forces had planned twin trials of the missile back-to-back within a gap of one minute to gauge its effectiveness and killing efficiency. As "claimed" by the DRDO, the Akash missile system has a passive phased array radar called Rajendra which is capable of tracking as many as 64 targets and controlling up to 12 missiles simultaneously. It is important to point out that Akash Missile system has an unending history of failures after failures but India's war crazy government is just not ready to give the project up when more than half of its population doesn't have access to clean drinking water.

Leaked letter reveals Indian Air Defences as 97% Obsolete; Tanks with No Ammunition

NEW DELHI: India’s tank fleet lacks ammunition, its air defences are “97 percent obsolete” and its elite forces lack essential arms, the country’s army chief wrote in an explosive letter leaked Wednesday. The letter to the prime minister dated March 12 lists the shortcomings of the armed forces in embarrassing detail in a blow to the government and the Asian giant’s military prestige. Its publication also ups the stakes in a public battle between army chief General VK Singh and the government which began with a dispute over Singh’s retirement earlier this year. “The state of the major (fighting) arms i.e. mechanised forces, artillery, air defence, infantry and special forces, as well as the engineers and signals, is indeed alarming”, Singh wrote in the letter, DNA newspaper reported.

The army’s entire tank fleet is “devoid of critical ammunition to defeat enemy tanks”, while the air defence system is “97% obsolete and it doesn’t give the deemed confidence to protect… from the air”, he wrote, according to DNA. The infantry is crippled with “deficiencies” and lacks night fighting equipment, while the elite special forces are “woefully short” of “essential weapons”. Singh also told The Hindu newspaper this week that he had informed Defence Minister A.K Antony of a $2.8 million bribe offered to him in 2010, leading to embarrassing questions as to why the government did not order an enquiry. Antony told parliament on Wednesday that he was aware of the letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and he would reply appropriately.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan released an Indian army helicopter just hours after it strayed across the border between the two countries on Sunday, officials said. The Pakistani military had forced the Indian helicopter to land and detained four Indian army officials after it intruded into its territory in Olding sector in northern Skardu region near the border in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir. "The helicopter and four officers on board returned around 5.30 p.m. (1230 GMT) after a contact between the director-general military operations of the two countries", military spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas said. The Indian defence ministry said the helicopter had returned to Kargil in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir.

Earlier, Army spokesman Major General Athar Abbas had said that authorities had forced an Indian military helicopter to land and had taken its four-member crew into custody for violating Pakistani airspace. The helicopter intruded into Pakistani territory in Olding sector in northern Skardu region around 1:00 p.m (0800 GMT). According to initial details, it was stated that the helicopter conducted an emergency landing due to bad weather however analysts suspect that Indians had hostile intents and were inside Pakistan intentionally and they just weaseled their way out by bringing up bad weather when caught. Later, however, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said that the helicopter was forced to land near Skardu, a city in northeastern Pakistan fairly close to the border with Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistani hackers hack India's top investigating agency CBI's website

Pakistan Cyber Army has mocked Indian cyber security in front of the whole tech world by hacking the premier investigating agency CBI's website on Friday night. The programmers who hacked the website identified themselves as "Pakistan Cyber Army". The home page of the CBI website had a message from the "Pakistan Cyber Army" warning the wannabe Indian Cyber Army not to attack Pakistani websites in future.

The hackers have made a mockery of India's cyber security by infiltrating into the CBI website, supposed to be one of the most secure websites. The CBI is connected to the command centre of world police organisation - Interpol - 24x7.The message from the hackers also spoke about the filtering controls provided by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), a body which mans computer servers across the country. The Pakistani Cyber Army has also warned that it would carry out "mass defacement" of other websites if attacks continue on Pakistani websites.
