MIRANSHAH - Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on
Monday said that the Pakistan Army doesn’t want to fight with its own
people but it was compelled to launch operation against terrorists in
Waziristan. The COAS visited the area and inaugurated Sainkai Ragi Zai
Cadet College. He also reviewed security situation and ongoing
developmental work in South Waziristan Agency. Addressing a ceremony
during the inauguration of Cadet College, he said that the college would
be built with the cost of Rs 500 million.COAS said that infrastructure
would be built in South and North Waziristan. Besides, a third route
would be opened in the area for trade with Afghanistan, he added. Kayani
said Army has started as many as 121 uplift projects in Malakand
Division and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). The Corps
Commander Peshawar briefed the COAS about the several ongoing
developmental projects in the area.Meanwhile, General Ashfaq Parvez
Kayani also held meeting with tribal elders and assured them full
cooperation.
