MULTAN – Multan Police have arrested five alleged terrorists belonging to Rana Afzal alias Noor Khan Group of the Indo-American terror proxy called the Tehreek-e-Taliban and recovered ammunition as well as material used for manufacturing explosives from their possession, disclosed City Police Officer Amir Zulfiqar Khan. The arrested terrorists were identified as Rana Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Suleman, Muhammad Younus, Aqib Ali and Muhammad Tahir while their ringleader, Rana Afzal, is still at large.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, the CPO claimed that police carried out a big operation with the help of other agencies and prevented Multan from destruction planned by the arrested terrorists. “They (terrorists) had evolved a vicious plan to commit suicide attacks on police and army as well as congregations and processions of Shias,” he added. He said the alleged terrorists got training from a TTP camp in Waziristan area and returned to South Punjab to implement their plan. He claimed the accused were also planning to kidnap people for ransom and murder several others on sectarian grounds.

Police have recovered one Kalashnikov, one 222 rifle, three pistols, 120 bullets, detonators, ammonium nitrate, potassium chloride, iodine and silver powder from their possession.
