Indian attempts to sell grandson for drugs

NEW DELHI - Police in northern India said Wednesday they had arrested a 47-year-old man for selling his newborn grandson to a local businessman to buy drugs in a deal that was struck on Facebook. Feroz Khan, a resident of Ludhiana city in the northern state of Punjab 300 kilometres (200 miles) from New Delhi, had allegedly kidnapped his grandson shortly after he was born earlier this month. Khan sought help from two temporary employees at a local hospital where his daughter gave birth, who contacted the buyer on Facebook and arranged the deal for 45,000 rupees ($830).

“All three people who conspired to sell the child have been arrested and we will be interrogating the businessman who paid the money to buy the baby,” Satish Malhotra, a senior police officer in Ludhiana, said. Khan, along with nurse Sunita Rani and another person known only as Gurpreet, have been arrested for attempted kidnap. The baby’s mother, Noori a divorcee, had complained that her father was planning to sell her child. Police intervened and rescued the baby from Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi and returned him to his mother. The three accused have been charged with kidnapping and they will be produced before a court on Wednesday. 

If proven guilty, they could be jailed for seven years. Police commissioner Ishwar Singh said Gurpreet had a Facebook friend whose wife had fertility problems. The gang settled on a price of Rs 45,000 (£420). Ranni was found to have Rs 20,500 on her person, while Khan had Rs 24,000. The station house officer at the Basti Jodhewa police station said Khan had arranged to sell the baby to fund his drug habit.

In 2011, the country’s federal police admitted in court that there were 815 gangs comprising more than 5,000 members involved in the kidnapping of children for prostitution and begging across India. In March, a woman from Oklahoma tried to sell her children on Facebook in order to bail her boyfriend out of jail. Misty VanHorn, 22, wanted $1,000 (£670) or $4,000 for her 10-month-old baby and the toddler.

“Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000,” she is believed to have written on Facebook. Police arrested VanHorn and the children were taken into custody of the state.

Indian Army Man 'rapes' law student

MOHALI: Three days after a woman law student alleged rape, police arrested an Army person, Manish Saini, for the offence on Sunday. Saini's name and cellphone number were mentioned in the FIR, which the victim filed on April 11.

Details of the cellphone number led the district police to Saini's posting station in the cantonment area in Pathankot. Saini, who belongs to Patiala, was missing from both his post and his house.

Secular/Democratic India: Woman arrested for clicking 'Like' on Facebook

In India a 21 year old woman was arrested for posting a status on Facebook that was critical of a deceased politician. In addition, her friend that “liked” the status was also arrested, and the post wasn’t even threatening or violent in any way.

According to CSM:

“The offending post against recently deceased leader Bal Thackeray resulted in two arrests, the latest in a string of crackdowns on Internet speech in the world’s largest democracy. The police in Mumbai arrested Monday a 21-year-old college student Shaheen Dhada for a Facebook status update and her friend Renu Srinivasan for clicking “Like” on the update.

The case is the latest in a string of recent crackdowns on Internet speech in India. The update had criticized a general strike called by a political party, the right-wing Shiv Sena, to mourn the death Saturday of its elderly founder and patriarch, Bal Thackeray. The controversial leader has been hailed by Hindu nationalists but also criticized by liberals for leaving behind a legacy of political violence in India’s financial capital.

The party has been accused of anti-Muslim violence in Mumbai in 1992, and Mr. Thackeray frequently made statements against Muslims.” In her Facebook post, Ms. Dhada wrote, “Respect is earned, not given and definitely not forced. Today Mumbai shuts down due to fear and not due to respect.” She also said that politicians like Thackeray are “born and die daily” and the city need not shut down for it, and that people should remember the martyrs of the Indian independence movement.

The article also states that:

“Dhada and Ms. Srinivasan were arrested under section 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code that seeks to punish statements that amount to “creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes.” Additionally the two students have also been charged with Section 66A of the Information Technology Act that criminalizes online speech that is “grossly offensive or of menacing character.”

Another law they have been charged with is Indian Penal Code 295A, which makes insulting or outraging religious feelings an offense. The punishment for each count is three years imprisonment each.” This policy of spying on people over the internet and making arrests as a result is currently being implemented worldwide.

Last month, President Benigno Aquino III of the Philippines signed the Cybercrime Prevention Act, which defines several new acts of “crimes” committed online, including, among others, cybersex, identity theft, harassment, hacking, spamming, and pornography.

This has also been happening in the US as well, earlier this year a veteran by the name of Brandon Raub was taken to a mental hospital and detained against his will for controversial political statements that were made on his Facebook page

Fighting Corruption in Shining India: CAG Reports

Shining India full of Corruption

Opposition benches of Indian parliament headed by the BJP-led NDA have asked PM Manmohan Singh to resign, due to his involvement in one of the leading corruption case of shining India. The Comptroller and Auditor General’s reports (CAG Reports) have estimated “undue benefits” of over Rs. 3.06 lakh croer to private parties in coal block allocation without bidding, Delhi Airport development and diversion of coal to a power project. The corruption has been made when Mahmohan Singh was in charge of the Coal Ministry for part of the period between 1993 and 2004. As expected from the first meeting of parliament after the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on coal block allocation surfaced, both houses were adjourned as the opposition parties created a din.

On August 23, 2012 CAG earlier too exposed the weakness in the safety of Indian nuclear programming while initiating the report on India’s nuclear safety and shown great concerns over a weak regulatory body. In its report on the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board’s (AERB) performance audit, the Comptroller and Auditor General have warned a Fukushima or Chernobyl-like disaster if the nuclear safety issue is not addressed by the government. Indian wishful policy of becoming regional power while beating China politically, economically and militarily terribly failed but credit goes to Indian political and military top brass that they remained successful in beating China in the corruption. According to the global anti-graft watchdog, which compiles an annual list of countries based on their ranking on a scale of 1 to 10, places declared India is perceived to be more corrupt than China which is ranked 75th on the list.

Nevertheless, it is not the first case in India, when an elected head of government has been pointed out for corruption charges. Both, Indian civil and military set ups have long rich history of corruptions starting from moral to finical treachery. In 1987, then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and several others were alleged of receiving kickbacks in the deal of Bofors. According to the reports, Mr. Ottavio Quattrochi was a businessman close to the Gandhi family who played as middle man role in the deal of kickbacks. Rajiv Gandhi lost his 1989 elections due to the backlash of these allegations.

Similarly, many Americans’ electric companies have also been exposed for smuggling of the sensitive nature of technical devices and equipment to India. Reportedly, the same equipments and devices were later on used in preparation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), nuclear programme and missile technology. However, famous Bofors scandal till today is known as one of the biggest scandals in Indian politics. The scandal started when India decided to purchase 400 155mm Howitzers (fancy word for really-big-kickass-gun) from Swedish company Bofors AB for $1.4 billion in 1986.

Although, corruption is present almost in every country on various level, yet case of India is of special attention since the local level corruption has overridden the internationalized bribe or corruption. I do acknowledge here that corruption does exist in Pakistan too but state of situation in certain humanitarian affairs as compared to India is still better of due to independent judiciary and media.

According to recently conducted survey by a western NGO most the children are under nourish and almost 40% world’s underweight children belong to Harijan cast (an untouchable person from the lowest cast of Hindu society) of Shining India. Moreover, 70% population’s daily earning is below Rs 20/-. The survey also revealed that 72 % women in India have suffered with sexual torture and most of them were from working class. Bollywood (Mumbai) of so called Incredible India is at the top in the world for prostitution.

Surprisingly, corruption in Indian low and high ranking army officers have been grown quite high. As per Indian media Army officials have been found illegally selling arms and weapons. In this connection, most of the lieutenant colonels and colonels, had faced a court of inquiry in relation to a public suit, filed in the Rajasthan High Court by an advocate who stated that the officers were selling their private weapons to “people of suspected character”. The Economic Times also revealed on July 7, 2011, the weapons were bought by these army officers from the Central Ordnance Depot of Jabalpur and later sold to civilians in violation of the Arms Act, the petition had contended. The Supreme Court is presently hearing the case.

A very well motivated General V.K Singh, former Army Chief has also failed to stop or eliminate corruption and himself became the victim of corrupt Indian mafia. The track record of Indian corruption shows that Lt. Gen. Surendra Kumar Sahni, Lt. Gen. S.K. Dahiya, Maj-Gen. Anand Swaroop, Maj-Gen SP Sinha, Maj-Gen. Anand Kapoor, Maj-Gen. Gur Iqbal Singh Multani, Brig Guredeep Singh remained involve in unauthorized construction of a golf club building at Ambala cantonment, sexual harassment of female officers and lady wives of their subordinates, possessing disproportionate assets, smuggling of large quantities of defence liquor, rregularities in procuring meat and dry rations for the troops, stationed at Siachen and so on. In spite of court martial against the army officials, malpractices in one way or the other have kept on going in the Indian defence forces.

In 2011, Indian parliament presented a bill due to the hunger strike by anti-graft activist Anna Hazare, emphasising stronger legislation to combat the curse of corruption. Anna movement also claimed that almost all politicians, judges, police including total civil service are corrupt. Anyhow Indian political system successfully delayed the much-awaited ‘Lokpal Bill” and asked their Parliamentary committee to examine it to submit its report by the beginning of the Winter Session of Parliament.

In short Indian political system is the major misfortune for the general masses. In this regard, in November 2011, India’s World Economic Forum (WEF), the participants indicated that corruption has “paralysed New Delhi for a darkening economic outlook.” India is facing acute poverty, crimes and violence of various forms, economic crisis and social strife, resulting in political instability in the country under India’s so-called democracy. As one of the largest democratic state, India has failed in enforcing her responsibilities to end corruption in society, which ultimately gave birth to militancy in Maoists’ areas and others states. Presently, most of the independents movements are result of the corrupt Indian culture which really needs to be changed for elevation of the life of poor people of India.

Second Blackout in India Cuts Power to 670 Million People

India has been struck by its second major blackout over the past few days, leaving 670 million people without power.

The power grids, in the northern and eastern parts of the country, which supply electricity to half of India's 1.2 billion people, collapsed on Tuesday.

The epic blackout has trapped coal miners, left train passengers stranded, and left hospitals with no power amidst the sweltering heat and humidity of India's summer.

This unprecedented collapse is the worst to his India in more than a decade, bringing embarrassment to the government.

Death toll hits 50 in Assam: 400,000 people leave their homes

The death toll from ethnic unrest in India s northeast rose to 50 on Saturday while at least 400,000 languished in relief camps as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited the conflict-hit area.

The national government has dispatched medical teams to Assam to tend to the victims of the fighting that erupted eight days ago between indigenous Bodo tribes and Muslim settlers over long-running land disputes.

The chief minister of far-flung Assam state, Tarun Gogoi, said the region was now calm after what he called "unprecedented" violence as the focus shifted to providing relief to the 400,000 people who fled their homes.

The death toll climbed to 50 as police reported in a statement that the bodies of five more people killed in the riots had been recovered.

Singh, who represents Assam in the Indian parliament's upper house, was slated to tour relief camps on Saturday accompanied by ruling Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi.

The chief minister described the violence as the worst crisis his government has faced, with rival groups from both sides attacking villages, beating people to death with sticks and burning down homes.

People in the camps have said they were afraid of returning to their homes.

Gogoi has blamed Singh s government for the escalation in violence, saying it failed to send troops immediately after the unrest erupted.

Now at least 3,000 extra soldiers and paramilitary personnel are patrolling the region.

The international rights group Human Rights Watch said tensions had been building for more than two months between the Bodo and Muslim communities, which have clashed in the past over access to land and resources.

The group urged authorities to rescind the "shoot-on-sight" orders and "promptly investigate and prosecute those responsible while addressing the underlying causes of the clashes".

India’s Subversive Role in Afghanistan

During his trip to India and Kabul in June, this year, by reviving old blame game, US Defence Secretary of State, Leon Panetta repeatedly stated that drone attacks would continue on safe havens of terrorists in Pakistan, while accusing the Haqqani network for some of the deadliest attacks in Afghanistan.


On the other side, Leon Panetta encouraged India to take a more active role in Afghanistan as most foreign combat troops leave in 2014. India which has already invested billion of dollars in Afghanistan, signed a wide-ranging strategic agreement with that country on october 5, 2011 also includes to help train Afghan security forces.


While taking note of India’s subversive role in Afghanistan, US Republican Senator John McCain reminded the Obama administration that encouraging India to take a more active role in Afghanistan, while simultaneously criticising Pakistan could be a recipe for disaster.


In fact, since the US-led NATO forces occupied Afghanistan, stiff resistance of the Taliban militants which created unending lawlessness in the country has made it a most conducive place for India to play strategic game against Pakistan, China and Iran. For this purpose, New Delhi with the cooperation of the Karzai-led regime and with the tactical support of US and Israel has been obtaining its clandestine aims, while America and Israel are also doing the same.


In this respect, Indian RAW with the assistance of American CIA and Israeli Mossad has well-established its espionage network in Afghanistan. Besides, in a religious Madrassa of Wakhan, located in Afghanistan is functioning under the patronage of Indian officials. It is being used for brainwashing of very young boys who are Afghans, Uzbeks and Tajiks including so-called Indian Muslims. Posing themselves as Taliban, they have joined the ranks and files of the Pakistani Taliban. In this context, India’s several secret training camps are also present in Afghanistan from where highly trained militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons are being sent to Pakistan’s various places to conduct target killings, bomb blasts, suicide attacks, assaults on civil and military installations and forced abductions including ethnic and sectarian violence regularly.


In this connection, on June 28, the released Indian spy from Pakistani jail, Surjeet Singh openly admitted by saying, “I was a RAW agent. Regarding another Indian spy who is in Lahore jail, Surjeet Singh revealed, “Sarabjit Singh is a terrorist and terrorists are not released.” However, both the spies were responsible for the string of blasts in Faisalabad, Lahore, and Multan in 1990 in which several innocent people were killed.


Nevertheless, by manipulating American ambivalent approach and duplicity in relation to Pakistan, China, Iran and even Afghanistan, New Delhi has been extracting full benefits. In this context, US which signed a nuclear deal with India in 2008, intends to make India a great power of Asia to counterbalance China by separating Pakistan’s province of Balochistan due to its geo-strategic location with Gwadar seaport including mineral resources. For these purposes, RAW is assisting CIA and Mossad which have also been supporting subversive acts in Balochistan through Baloch separatist elements like Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and another group, Jundollah (God’s soldiers). These secret agencies are also backing similar acts of sabotage in the Iranian Sistan-Baluchistan including Tibetan regions of China. In this context, Tehran had directly accused CIA and other similar agencies for funding of terrorist attacks, while diverting the attention of Iran towards Islamabad through secret propaganda.


It is noteworthy that in the recent years, several persons died in the terror-incidents and ethnic riots occurred in various regions of China’s Xinjiang-the largely populated Muslim province. For all the incidents, India blamed Pakistani militants for supporting the insurgency in order to deteriorate Sino-Pak ties. In fact, New Delhi which had given shelter to the ex-Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama and his militants has been playing a key role in backing upsurge in the Tibetan areas of China.


During the Swat and Malakand military operations, while hinting towards India, the former Maj-Gen Athar Abbas had revealed in on of the press briefings that 400 foreigners and Afghans, having connections with the enemy countries were captured along with huge caches of sophisticated weapons, made of India and America—Afghan fighters had been infiltrated into Pakistan with the help of some external agencies bordering Afghanistan. Recently, Interior Affairs Adviser Rehman Malik also expressed similar thoughts. Earlier, he has openly disclosed that RAW was behind terror-acts in Pakistan, especially Karachi.


Notably, RAW and Afghan Khad have increased attacks inside Afghanistan, particularly targeting American soldiers with the sole aim to revive old blame game of the US against Islamabad and Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI in relation to cross-border-terrorism.


Regarding Indian activities in Afghanistan the then NATO commander, Gen. McChrystal had pointed out: “Indian political and economic influence is increasing in Afghanistan…is likely to exacerbate regional tensions.” It is notable that after the withdrawal of NATO troops in 2014, US has decided to maintain its six military bases in Afghanistan. Thus, America not only seeks to protect Indian influence in Afghanistan, but also control the energy resources of Central Asia as part of secret agenda against Pakistan, China, Iran and Russia. While playing double game with each other, India wants to entrap America permanently in Afghanistan so as to achieve its secret goals by harming the US interests. India also seeks to furhter strengthen its grip there to get strategic depth against Pakistan.


It is of particular attention that Pakistan is the only nuclear country in the Islamic world. Therefore, India and Israel with the assistance of America are creating instability in the country. Besides, by engaging US in Afghanistan and in blame game against Pakistan in connection with safe havens of Haqqani group, both India and Israel intend to divert the attention of Washington from their own atrocities, being perpetrated on the innocent Palestinians and Kashmiris. In this regard, they have also succeeded in distracting the attention of President Obama from the solution Kashmir and Palestinian issues.


In pursuance of its sinister designs, New Delhi is silent over American losses such as cost of war on terror, amounting to 8 trillion dollars, increase in defence budget and acute financial crisis inside the US homeland. Drug and kidnapping are some other source of Indian income in Afghanistan. According to an estimate, world’s 90% heroin is cultivated in Afghanistan. So money earned through drug-smuggling and hostage-takings is utilised in buying weapons, being sent to the foreign agents and the insurgents in Pakistan.


But militants are well-organised from Afghanistan to Somalia and from Yemen to the Indian-held Kashmir. So, if it wants to weaken Pakistan through subversive acts, different war by the insurgents will also envelop India where New Delhi has failed in controlling the wars of liberation in Kashmir and other regions including Maoists’ movement.


In the recent years, a number of conferences were held in order to bring stability and peace in Afghanistan before the foreign troops complete withdrawal from that country in 2014. Another major purpose was to conclude a peace deal with the Afghan militants. After the recent Tokyo conference on Afghanistan, efforts to convince Taliban for talks with the Kabul government have been increased and Pakistan has been requested to play an important task in this regard. During the recent tripartite meeting in Kabul, British Prime Minister David Cameron and Afghan President Hamid Karzai met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, and reiterated Islamabad’s support for durable peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan agreed to redouble efforts in facilitating these talks with the Afghan militants.


Particularly, US should realise that unlike India, there is a co-relationship of stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which is essential for American global and regional interests. In case, Indian subversive role continued in Afghanistan, the war-torn country will be thrown in an era of uncertainty and civil war. In that scenario, all the efforts of the US-led NATO and other western countries will prove fruitless. And Pakistan will not be in a position to help in bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan.


At this crucial hour, Pakistan and US are further improving their relations, after the apology of US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton for the killing of 24 Pakistani troops last September and in return securing the reopening of NATO supply lines into Afghanistan. Especially, America must remain alert as India could conduct any subversive act in Afghanistan to thwart the Pak-US new rapprochement.

Indian Economy Will be Worst Hit In case of EU Currency Collapse or Greek Exit

NEW DELHI: India has prepared a contingency plan for Greece exiting the euro zone and even a collapse of the monetary union, Indian officials said on Tuesday. The euro zone debt crisis has already put a damper on India’s exports to Europe, the biggest destination for Indian goods, as well as capital inflows into equity and debt markets.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government blames Europe’s woes for the slowdown in Asia’s third-biggest economy, although economists say Indian policy inertia is also to blame. Finance chiefs of the Group of Seven leading industrialised powers will hold emergency talks on the euro zone crisis on Tuesday in what was seen as a sign of growing global alarm over the threat posed by the strains within the 17-nation union.

“Yes, India does have a contingency plan. There are different crisis management groups within the government to deal with such a possible scenario,” Kaushik Basu, the chief economic adviser to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, told Reuters.

He declined to give details of the plan, but another senior official familiar with the planning said the Finance Ministry and central bank were prepared to take monetary and fiscal measures if necessary to try to insulate India from the shockwaves of a euro zone collapse. He did not spell out the measures, but they could include lowering interest rates, which are among the highest in the world, and lowering the amount of money that banks have to keep on deposit in the central bank.


The latter step would allow banks to lend more money to firms to keep hiring and expanding. At the moment the banks are required to keep 4.75 per cent of their deposits with the Reserve Bank of India.


Banking on falling oil prices, “We are already preparing technical analysis for different possible scenarios that could impact India trade, stock markets and financial institutions,” the Finance Ministry official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. “We are facing a fast-evolving situation. The question is not only about the exit of Greece from the euro zone, but whether the euro zone will be able to hold as a fiscal entity,” he said.


Finance Ministry officials said the wider group of G20 major economies, of which India is a leading member, were not planning their own conference call to discuss the crisis but were preparing instead for their summit in Mexico on June 18-19. “The next G20 meeting … is going to be an important signal to the world that we are all together and that the governments will try to sort out,” the senior official said.


The Indian government is also banking on lower international oil prices, to help blunt the impact of any European crisis. India imports nearly 80 per cent of its oil requirements and heavily subsidizes diesel and kerosene that is used mainly by the country’s poor and public transport. During the 2008 financial crisis, the Indian government spent its way out of trouble by increasing spending on job-creating infrastructure projects and tax cuts that boosted consumer spending, a major driver of the economy. This time around, with the budget deficit at nearly six per cent of GDP, thanks in no small part to that stimulus spending, it does not have the same room to manoeuvre.

'Untouchable' killed in North India

PATNA - Police in north India said Wednesday they were hunting for a village strongman accused of beating to death an “untouchable” neighbour who broke strict caste-based rules by using a local hand pump. Mohan Paswan, in his late 40s, was lynched in Parhuti village in Bihar state last Thursday when he disobeyed an order by a local thug not to use the pump during a heatwave. 


“Paswan was attacked and brutally thrashed by a village strongman Pramod Singh and his henchmen for taking water,” local police official Saroj Kumar told AFP. “Police have been trying hard to arrest the accused in the case but they are absconding.”


Caste-based discrimination is illegal in India, but abuse is rife, particularly in remote rural areas where the rigid system that places “untouchables” at the bottom of the social order remains in tact.


The low castes, also known as Dalits, traditionally do menial, dirty and often dangerous jobs and are seen as spiritually and physically dirty by the high castes who sometimes prevent them from drinking at the same wells. A fortnight ago there were tensions in the Arwal district of Bihar where Dalits were prevented from entering a Hindu temple where high castes were worshipping.

India - Living Hell Hole for Women; SAFMA lauds female massacre with criminal silence

Inspite of 2 crore + population in the World's largest Democracy, India is truly a living hell for women. Since 1980, more than 45 million women have either been killed as adults, killed as unborn baby girls, or buried alive in sand after birth for being female. Where did this happen? In India. That country is a graveyard for women. The and the judges are complicit because, well, they too subscribe to age-old religious practices. There are entire villages where teenage girls are forced to sleep with older men as part of religious rituals. The world's largest number of underage female weddings are in India. They burn her alive if she brings little dowry to the house of her new husband, and they kill her after birth because they don't want women. Watch the reality yourself!

What more Ironic is the torch bearers of "Freedom of Speech" and the so called humanitarian butchers of humanity never talk about the massacre of women in the living hell hole India!  SAFMA which calls itself a "South Asian FREE media association" never sheds any light to the miserable plight of the pathetically ignored human being - the women. SHAME on the FREE MEDIA! SHAME! This comprehensively exposes the hypocrisy and deception of "Free Media", "Democracy" and "Freedom of Speech"!
