Tobacco Industry Forced to List Ingredients Used in Their Products

In 2009, the Food and Drug Administration gained authority to regulate tobacco products, and now they will soon be exercising that ability. Already releasing preliminary guidelines for the tobacco industry that can educate consumers on exactly what is in cigarettes, the FDA is making it so tobacco companies will have to report on the amount of harmful and unsafe ingredients used in their products.

  

Within one year, the FDA plans to share information on chemical amounts, while tobacco makers will be required to report on the amount of 93 substances used in their products. This means that harmful ingredients used such as ammonia and formaldehyde will need to be made known to the public. This decision will certainly ignite a slew of ingredient-based information regarding tobacco products.

 

“We are forging new territory to ensure that tobacco companies provide accurate information and do not mislead American consumers. We are committed to stopping such practices that may cause people to start or continue using tobacco products that could lead to preventable disease and death,” FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg said in a statement.

There are over 4,000 individual compounds identified in tobacco and tobacco smoke, with at least 60 of them being known carcinogens. How would you feel after finding out that with every cigarette comes a dose of insecticide, car exhaust, gas chamber poison, ant poison, floor cleaner, mothballs, and nuclear weapon material? The fact is, there are hundreds of chemicals in tobacco products (and cigarettes especially) that people don’t even know about.

     Insecticide – nicotine

    Car exhaust – carbon monoxide

    Gas chamber poison – hydrogen cyanide

    Ant poison – ammonia

    Mothballs – naphthalene

    Nuclear power – radioactive compounds

 

While this kind of information won’t be responsible for ending the bad habit of smoking for the majority of individuals, it may serve to kick the habit for many. Even while smoking and tobacco use is already known to cause various cancers such as lung cancer, throat cancer, and stomach cancer, the health damaging aspects of smoking aren’t enough for people to quit. But now, seeing “formaldehyde”, “lead”, and “arsenic” on the label may just be enough to cause many people to finally quit smoking and tobacco use.

The Insane West: Say hello to Genetic Surveillance

With websites, corporations, and governments peeking at our activities both on and offline, many of us have become more mindful of the electronic footprints our online activities leave behind. But there aren't any privacy settings to deter the kind of surveillance that information artist Heather Dewey-Hagborg is modeling with her new project: a genetic intelligence database of computer-generated 3D profiles constructed from found hair samples.

Premiering last weekend at an open studio showcase for residents of New York City's Eyebeam art and technology lab, the project, Stranger Visions, began with a simple but profound realization: we are leaving physical traces of ourselves everywhere, and tools to unlock the secrets behind those traces will soon become more accessible than ever before.

Dewey-Hagborg says it was a single strand of hair lodged precariously between the glass frame of a painting that got her to thinking about the origins of this ubiquitous human detritus. "I had never considered the emerging possibility of genetic surveillance," she says. "That the very things that make us human: hair, skin, saliva, become a liability as we constantly face the possibility of shedding these traces in public space, leaving artifacts which anyone could come along and mine for information." She points me to a story about a geneticist whose attempts to determine the origin of a murderer from a semen sample caused the Dutch government to pass new regulations on DNA phenotyping in 2003. "It was part of my early research and I think that the issues that article raises are integral to the piece." Today, the Netherlands remains the only country to have explicitly restricted such practices.

The premise might bring to mind the fictional dystopia depicted in Andrew Niccol's 1997 sci-fi film, Gattaca. But Stranger Visions isn't a tribute — it's an actual proof-of-concept. Collaborating with Genspace, a DIY bio lab and hackerspace in Brooklyn, Dewey-Hagborg found herself in the role of an amateur gene sleuth, aiming to make the genetic forensics equivalent of police sketches. Collecting hair samples from bathroom stalls and other public spaces, she extracts known predictive traits from the sequenced genome — race, resistance to diseases, eye color, etc. — eventually using the results to chart ancestry across a large printed map and generate 3D portraits of her unwitting, anonymous subjects.

Dewey-Hagborg's own genetic self-portrait, fabricated into a physical likeness, proves the procedure to be eerily accurate. As for the rest of us, expensive gene sequencing equipment is still preventing mass-adoption of the practice, but it won't be for long: recent developments suggest the costs of sequencing the genome will soon fall below the $1,000 range. For now, a table of petri dishes containing human hairs, with a monitor above displaying computer approximations of their owners, serves as a powerful and chilling demonstration of the bioethical minefield that may very well await us.

West - Where humanity collapses!

When one hears the word “west”, spontaneously an image comes in mind, which has all colours of liberalism, security, luxuries, fantasies, enjoyment and hence a modern life guaranteeing  real soundness, safety and health. Let us analyse a few aspects of the luxurious life that exists in the west.



Let’s first, ponder over the “family life” in West.

According to Custodial Mothers and Fathers and Their Child Support: 2007, released by the USZ Census Bureau in November, 2009, there are approximately 13.7 million single parents in the United States today, and those parents are responsible for raising 21.8 million children. While the Parents in USZ those have divorced are at a rate of 4.95 per 1,000 people while 1.3 per 1,000 people being average. In 1960 only nine per cent of children lived in single- parent families. By 2004 this jumped to 28 percent. The overwhelming majority of single-parent families are mother-only.

Meanwhile, surveys reveal that Americans increasingly view marriage and child rearing as separate pursuits. Among teenagers, both boys and girls have become more accepting of non-marital lifestyles, especially unwed childbearing.

A liberal term "Cohabitation" which means living with a partner outside marriage in a  long term relationship, has played a vital role in destructing the parental and child life massively. Cohabitation in the United States became common in the late 20th century. As of 2005, 4.85 million unmarried couples were currently living together, and as of 2002, about half of all women aged 15 to 44 had lived unmarried with a partner. The number of unmarried, cohabiting couples has increased dramatically over the past four decades, and the increase is continuing. Most young American adults now spend some time living together outside of marriage, and cohabitation commonly precedes marriage.

What do you expect the future of the children of these 4.85 million will be like? They are certainly a part of a broken family, victims of inferiority complex, feeble characters with depressed soul, humans with out  definite religion, lacking ambitions. Despite being innocent, they begin losing their innocence at a very young age in search of living or following the footsteps of their so called parents.

 Asia, mainly Pakistan is notorious for the life safety issues and is considered hazardous for one’s life  as a consequent of frequent bomb blasts, burglary etc. While Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed. Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the USZ and even South Africa - widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries. In the decade following the party's election in 1997, the number of recorded violent attacks soared by 77 per cent to 1.158 million - or more than two every minute.

The murder rate in Latin America is 25.6 per 100,000 people, according to the study conducted by the OAS Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

Latin America has just eight percent of the world’s population, but it is the region where 40 percent of the world’s homicides and 66 percent of kidnappings for ransom are committed, according to the representative for South America with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights . Partial reason for these increasing crimes can be supposed; Increasing poverty, illegal immigrants, rage, desperation, drugs, and downright hopelessness.

I see multiple Train wrecks that are being orchestrated in every State of the USZ through the Bad Acts of their Current Administration. Inapt situation of Civil Rights, Law, Order, Morality, and last but not least Integrity! Political Greed has set the tone to take what you can and just steal the rest. Failed Government and a society with no definite, perfect religion lead the way to rampant crime.

The following table represents the percent of women polled in a survey who replied that they attempted to report they were forced into sex, broken down country.

It is estimated that 1 in 3 American women will be sexually assaulted in her life time. While 89% of the assaults are committed by some one the victim knows. For every sexual assault reported to the police, 3-10 go unreported. 13% of the males will be sexually assaulted during their life time. Furthermore, Statistics and soldier testimonies have revealed that sexual assault has been a recurrent crisis in the USZ military with 11% increase in sexual assaults compared to the previous year, putting the reported number of sexual assault cases at 3,230.

When it comes to the standard of living, Census figures show 43.6 million USZ citizens lived in poverty in 2009 and 19 million lived in extreme poverty. The figures also show that one in five children in the United States of Zionism lives in extreme poverty. Read more 

We have summed up a few of the major aspects of human life which guarantee a sound and healthy life. Where as you can see, the life in west, heavily violates all the conditions that satisfy a healthy, contented life. I don’t mean to blame the people for that but it is merely because humans with no definite ideology and with out perfect code of life as Islam provides, are likely to be animals.

It is wisely said, "Great ideology creates great times."
