Syria foils infiltration attempt by militants on Lebanese border

Syrian Army forces have driven back a group of militants who were attempting to enter the country from the Lebanese border.

The gunmen, who were riding cars and motorcycles, tried to enter the Syrian city of Talkalakh, located 150 kilometers (93 miles) northwest of Damascus, late on Sunday, but were repelled by Syrian government forces and forced to flee back into Lebanon, the SANA news agency reported.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011.

Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the fighting.

The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
