SUKKUR – A truck carrying a huge stash of arms and
ammunition was seized and two culprits arrested in a Thursday noon raid
on National Highway near Ghotki district of Sindh province. Besides
hashish, hand grenades, rockets, suicide vests and detonators were
seized from the vehicle. Initial investigation suggested that the
explosive material was being transported to Karachi from Peshawar. Sources
said the arrested culprits, Riaz and Ghulam Hyder, belonged to South
Waziristan, adding that they had been shifted to an undisclosed location
for further investigation.
An excise police team spotted a suspected truck on Punjab-Sindh border and upon search found hand grenades, suicide jackets, rockets, launchers and other arms covered in a quilt in it.
