Lt. Gen. Zaheer ul Islam to be the next DG ISI

Lt. Gen. Zaheer ul Islam
Lt Gen. Zaheerul Islam has been named as the successor of Gen. Pasha as new Chief of the ISI. He will take over the position on March 18, the day General Pasha is due to retire as chief of the ISI. The appointment of Lt Gen. Islam, who is currently the corps commander of Karachi, may be finalised later today, sources said.

Islam has earlier served as the deputy director general of the ISI as a major general. He was then promoted to the rank of lieutenant general and moved to Karachi. He is said to be a disciplined and focused officer. Consultations had been ongoing between the prime minister, president and the army chief. Sources said that the prime minister had told his cabinet ministers and advisers that they will announce the decision today.

It should be noted that the newly ex DG ISI General Ahmed Shuja Pasha has played a brilliant role in safeguarding country's boundaries despite the treacherous government, the NRO washed parliament and the sold out national media. The anti-Pakistan foreign funded journalists and so called defense analysts have always maligned the premier intelligence agency of the country probably for its nationalist stance and have tried their best to create a false propaganda on the frontline. Recently the entire fifth columnist media was found creating a hype over the "Missing persons" and allegedly accusing the ISI and the MI without any genuine evidences.
