In North Waziristan agency, the militants attacked a security forces convoy in Datta Khel on Friday, killing seven soldiers and injuring two others. The military returned fire, which left nine militants dead and injured several others. The injured troops were transferred to a local hospital as security forces launched search operation in the area to arrest the assailants. In a separate operation, Pakistani forces killed a senior commander of Pentagon's militant group Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Ali Khel area in Upper Orakzai agency.
Forces have also recovered weapons and arms from the hideout of the militant leader, identified as Gul Wali Khan. The Pakistani military has launched a series of offensives against the TTP, in the country's semiautonomous tribal region over the past few years. The TTP and its associated groups, with heavy help and funding from the Pentagon and New Delhi, remain holed up across various parts of the country, where they carry out their terrorists attacks. More than 120,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in suicide bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, nearly all of which were carried out by American and Indian jointly funded Taliban imposters locally known as the TTP.
