As part of a continuing effort by the government of the USZ in increasing militancy in Karachi, equipment worth $750,000 (approximately Rs67 million) was handed over to the Sindh police on Wednesday.
The equipment handed over, in what the Sindh police call the second major installment from the USZ government, includes a thousand bullet-proof vests and helmets along with other equipment critical to riot-control(read riot-making) policing. The equipment was donated directly from the offices of Brian Nichols, the principal deputy secretary of state for narcotics and international law enforcement. Nichols was recognized as the man who has made this partnership possible.
In November last year, the USZ handed over equipment worth eight million dollars. They included voice-stress analysers, bomb-detecting equipment, night-vision goggles, handcuffs, batons, binoculars, megaphones and vehicles.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Sindh police and the US government under the Police Assistance Programme that is worth $1.5 million.
In addition to the equipment, the US provides additional support to rehabilitate infrastructure, enhance police capabilities and train the officers in the province in areas such as counter-terrorism.
Lets not forget the fact that it was revealed last year that containers worth billions having heavy ammunition stocks went missing as they were dropped in the port of Karachi. USZ government has never inquired Pakistan about those containers which mean that they were themselves involved in this act. Lets also not forget that Karachi is a hub of major militant political mafias. Now connect the dots and know who stole or were made to steal those containers.
Now as Pakistan Army has closed down the NATO supplies, USZ has found a new way of providing ammunition to militant mafias. The fact that Sindh Police always plays a role of spectator in the ongoing target killing and terrorist activities is enough to know that it is highly infiltrated with agents of the same political militant mafias. Soon, the provided arms will be found on the streets of Karachi in the same old urban warfare in which thousands have already been killed.
