At least 12 troops were killed and four others wounded when NATO planes pounded a security check-post in Mohmand tribal agency near Pak-Afghan border on Saturday morning. According to the media reports, NATO helicopters intruded into Pakistan and targeted Sahala Check-post, situated in Baizai tehsil, some 60 kilometers from Mohmand tribal region near border areas.
As a result of the cross-border strike, eight Pakistani troops, including an officer, embraced martyrdom. The wounded soldiers were airlifted to Peshawar. Separately, seven militants were killed in a clash with security forces in Masozai area of Kurram Agency. Four security personnel were also injured. So far more than 100 militants were killed by security forces during the last two weeks in different parts of Kurram tribal belt. Besides, dozens of militant hideouts were also destroyed. Ten troops, including a major, also embraced martyrdom.
