Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Thursday that it was situations like the one in Karachi which lead to military takeovers. The chief justice was speaking during the suo motu hearing on violence in the city. The officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) arrived in court and briefed the five-member bench on Karachi situation in chamber. Counsel for MQM Farrukh Naseem said that a commission should be formed for an impartial investigation. Giving his remarks, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry slammed MQM's request and said that the formation of commission is always demanded to divert the attention from solving the problem. The CJP said that MQM left government for its vested interests. The court later adjourned the hearing till tomorrow.
