Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani

Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani arrived in Karachi on Thursday morning. He later on chaired a high level meeting to review law and order situation in the city here on Thursday. According to reports, the army chief was given a detailed briefing on the situation of the city, which remained tense this week and over 100 people lost their lives to the unabated target killing. Sources told media that the military chief issued important directions for the betterment of law and order in the metropolis, home to at least 20 million people and commercial hub of the country. General Kayani had hinted that the army could provide its services to the government in restoring peace in the port city after demanded by various quarters.
