Lawyers: ‘Bhatti's Murder is a plot to pressurize Pakistan over Davis’

The lawyers on Wednesday resented the murder of Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti, terming it a plot executed by the anti-Pakistan elements to put further pressure on the country. They said there was no reason, whatsoever, for any Muslim to kill Bhatti. But they did not rule out possibility of foreign powers behind the barbarous act. Lahore High Court Bar Association President Ashgar Ali Gill, former Bar secretary Rana Asadullah Khan, Pakistan Bar Council Ehsan Bhon and others vehemently condemned the murder and said that the increase in heinous acts in the most sensitive city of Islamabad “shows that some elements want to destabilise Pakistan.”

They also suspected the murder a move to put pressure on Pakistan on Raymond Davis case so that America could take its citizen out of the country. They were of the view that since arrest of Davis, no subversive act took place and that was ample proof that America was directly involved behind chaos in Pakistan but our rulers were paying no heed to this aspect. They called for immediate arrest of the accused persons so that the public could be informed about the actual facts and the country should be saved from anarchy and unrest.
